There's no way. Besides, prices in Australia are way higher. Games are like $100-$120 over there on release.

I'd say it's safe to say it'll debut at around $300.

They can always lower the price, but it would be painful to honor a lower price if it launches higher. But I'm confident that Nintendo won't repeat Sony's biggest mistake with the PS3, and Nintendo should also have learned from the 3DS pricing fiasco (although I'm sure the Australia price will be higher than Japan or the U.S.).
 
Like the guy above said, I'm pretty sure the Australians get shafted with really high prices on all things video games.

I'd bet on $300 to $350.
 
Hoping for $300-350 as well. I paid $400 for the Xbox when it first came out, but even then i was hesitant. $500+ is an instant turnoff.
 
Nintendo's had the lowest priced system since the Gamecube. I'm pretty positive the Wii U will be cheap, too.
 
Unfortunately Nintendo seems to be pulling a page out of Sega's playbook and trying to release their next console while the other manufacturers are still chugging along with their current gen ones. Why they feel the need to join MS and Sony in HD land is beyond me, since sales of the Wii system earlier in this gen proved that people like their entertainment to be reasonably priced.

So if Nintendo releases anywhere above $250-300, then I imagine we will be seeing them join Sega in being a software developer only on the home console front, while maybe retaining a spot in the handheld market for some time.
 
Oh I know. Hopefully that's not the standard controller for the system either or they're going to have quite a few very pissed off families complaining about how it cost them $500 just for controllers for the whole family. I can only imagine the hell they'd get from people from those same families trying to replace one that the kids beat the snot out of.

This is why Nintendo really should've stuck to their guns and did their own thing and let MS/Sony go whole hog if they wanted to.

It was said that the Wii U could only support one of the touch screen controllers per console.

Also, again, this is Australian pricing, and it's not even set in stone as far as we know. I expect the system to run from $300-350 in the states, $400 at the very most.

Nintendo is targeting the casual market. They're not going to follow in Sony's steps with a $500-600 launch. That was miserable.
 
I assume its going to just be Console + Tablet + Mii Mini Game Disc, all in one box. I'm thinking at least a $350 price point, minimum.

Has it been confirmed that more than one tablet will even work with the console at the same time?

And I doubt they'll feel the need to pack in a Wii Remote (Plus) since there are millions out there and they can just continue to manufacture them on the side.

It's going to go right up there with the 3DO, Phillips CD-I, Neo Geo, and PS3 if it does. The PS3 hurt my wallet!!! Especially since I purchased 2 Wiis at launch also, my head hurts now. >_
 
I read somewhere that Nintendo was considering adding support for a 2nd tablet. I think this is essential, but I'm sure they were thinking most people would balk at a $100 additional controller.
 
When you think about how much an actual wii controller cost you to begin with people were buying them.

Wii Mote: $50
NunChuck: $20
Classic Controller: $20
Wii Motion Plus: $20
 
Well, you could get away with $60 for an extra controller + nunchuck at launch. The other things didn't come until later. Plus it doesn't hit you as hard when you piece it together compared to paying all at once. Not saying that Wii controllers don't add up to a lot if you get a classic controller (which isn't required--and don't count WM+ separately now), but I still think there will be resistance to $100+ regardless of the past.

I balk at paying $54.99 as it is for Sony's controllers. That's why I waited till some hit clearance or I got em with those controller/game bundles from GS during a trade-in glitch. Each extra one I have cost me no more than $20 each.;)
