Along with Mortal Kombat, it looks like a bunch of other games may be getting the HD treatment, including the Prince of Persia trilogy. Like MK, it'll also be in 3D. Other collections rumored include Splinter Cell, Rayman, and Tom Clancy

This will be a day 1 purchase for me if true, PoP was awesome:

The chances of seeing a Ratchet and Clank collection come to fruition is now the more hopeful seeing collections like this pop up. ;)

Bought all 3 for about $30 used from GameStop last year, haven't got to play them. I wanna be upset, but from the little I've played of the first one, even through component with Progressive scan turned on, it's a blurry mess. I remember renting the first one back when it came out and playing it, and loved it. Guess once this is 100% confirmed I'll trade the 3 games back to GameStop and probably only get a couple backs.

As much as I bitch about how HD collections like these are just ripoffs to make you buy the same thing all over again, I'd actually love to see MGS HDified.

But Prince of Persia? I'd rather take the PS2 versions and play them on my 60GB PS3.

i have all 3 of these sealed for collection.
I love my POPs.
Sands is a GH though.

Well there goes the price of those.

Eventually all your good PS2 games will probably be on PSN anyway.

yeah would much rather have ratchet and clank than this or the mortal kombat one...

MGS would be a good on imo... Kingdom Hearts maybe...

R&C / MGS / KH just seem to make more sense than MK or PoP imo.

man, HD rebranding is catching on. i dont really mind though because they seem to be limiting it to quality titles and not rereleasing garbage. i may end up getting these (after a price drop or two of course).
I see a bad trend forming here...
Me too... getting GoW Collection was awesome because GoW I and II were great looking games which benefited greatly from HD. Team ICO Collection will benefit a lot from HD too. I'm only kinda excited for the Sly Collection but have little to no interest in the PoP and the MK Collections.

I can see this continuing though... I wouldn't mind a MGS Collection but that's pretty much it.

I missed out on Ratchet and Clank on the PS2. I was a Jak and Daxter fan and for whatever reason never picked up the Ratchet and Clank PS2 games for whatever reason, so I would be very happy to see them re-released on the PS3 because I loved the Ratchet and Clank Future games.

I was lucky enough to pick up R&C: Going Commando but my ADD refused to let me finish the game, I did thoroughly enjoy the two PS3 versions though. The ones on PS2 were just as good with most people disowning Deadlocked out of the 4 that came out.

Ugh, well soon as have a set date I'll be trading my various PoP's on goozed it looks like. (already got Shadow of Colossus up and waiting)

Sands of Time is one of my fav. games ever. Without it, we probably wouldn't have God of War (and its "clones") Assassin's Creed and so forth. There are obvious platforming gameplay mechanics in those games that are taken straight out of SoT.

Actually, God of War was originally created to be a Sony first party version of Devil May Cry, which was originally supposed to be a Resident Evil game.

I'm sure the idea was there, but I'm mainly talking from a gameplay p.o.v. I'm not sure if you played one after the other, but I couldn't help but feel a lot of the gameplay in GOW, like the puzzles, and hanging/jumping from one cliff/building edge to the other as it broke off, the fighting, etc.. were heavily inspired by Prince of Persia. Not saying it's a clone of Sands of Time, just that it appears to have influenced the gameplay. Many considered Sands of Time to be a groundbreaking game for the genre so it's understandable. I think GOW took it to another level in many ways with the weapon upgrades and such.

Ubi finds a way to fuck this completely up:

Prince of Persia HD Collection Is Europe Only, In 3D, Royally Ugly

The previously rumored Prince of Persia Trilogy 3D for the PlayStation 3 has been confirmed by publisher Ubisoft today, stuffing three PS2 games onto one Blu-ray disc, which will only be available in Europe. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones will get a visual upgrade for the re-release, but judging by the first three screen shots of the compilation, not a terribly impressive visual upgrade. Either the sands of time have not been kind to the Prince, or we've forgotten what these PS2 games originally looked like.
Sure, the original Sands of Time looks alright, and maybe we've been spoiled by Sony's other HD makeovers (God of War, Shadow of the Colossus & Ico), but Warrior Within... what happened?
Ubisoft says the trio of Prince of Persia games will run in 720p resolution, plus feature new textures, normal maps, anti-aliasing and optional stereoscopic 3D.
Prince of Persia Trilogy 3D hits the PS3 in Europe on November 19, priced at £29.99.

Look pretty bad for an HD port from what the screenshot shows. I hope this is not Ubisoft's quick cash grab. My Sand of Time PC version has much better texture and graphic

Yeeaaaah... guess I didn't waste my money on the PS2 trilogy. Just gonna play those instead. Man, this and Beyond Good & Evil aren't upgrades at all. I feel better for not having to ditch my PS2 copies, but if studios are just gonna start directly porting PS2 games to PS3 without improvements, the market is gonna get ugly. Then again, the God of War Collection wasn't a remake or anything, but it looked damn nice. But GoW were pretty much the best looking games on the PS2 from the get-go.

I'm angry that it's only been announced for EU. Hopefully they'll announce it for NA, otherwise I'll have to import it. Good thing the PS3 is region free.

Heck, I even loved Deadlocked.

I'd love a HD Ratchet and Clank collection.

My question, are we getting a disc with all three of the PoP games on it??? Or must we purchase this via PSN?

The Sands of Time
Warrior Within
The Two Thrones

If each game is $15, the download will cost you $45... Disc probably $30 (a deal or something, otherwise $40 I think). PSN is sharable though...

From what I was reading we are getting each game as download for $15 on PSN, not on a disc. The Collection is 29.99 pounds which is roughly $48 US dollars. So for $45 it is a bit cheaper for us then those in Europe.

Thanks Hell Monkey... Hmmm, I do have a lot to play right now, I'm pretty sure this collection will be on sale as a bundle down the road. Must resist the urge to get everything on release day or week...

Yeah I'm doing the same. I'm actually playing the "new" PoP on PS3 right now (not Forgotten Sands, the other one). Then got AC: Brotherhood and plenty of other stuff. So much as I want this, it can wait.

I love the PoP games on the current gen (two so far, Prince of Persia and PoP: The Forgotten Sands). Both are excellent games, love them! I have platinum trophies for both. For PoP, I even have the epilogue trophies (a true 100% completion).

I hope the trophies for this PoP HD collection are not too difficult  I love to have platinum trophies for all of the PoP games.

I am definitely picking this up. The PoP series (starting with the original I played back on the SNES up tp Forgotten Sands) is one of my favorites in all of gaming. In particular, I never remember being more impressed with a PoP game than I was with SoT. I haven't replayed it since it first launched so this will be a great opportunity, even though I still have my original PS2 copy.
I'm still hoping they release a disc version of the trilogy over here.
Same here... I just got the Sly Cooper HD collection today, sweet stuff!
Holy crap the download for Sands of Time is like 2.4GB
Yep, and it takes about 20 minutes to install.
Is this PSN exclusive? Also, what are the release dates for the other two games?

Warriors Within
The Two Throne
Yes, and they've only said sometime in December.

These games are £11.99 each on the EU PS store, ridiculous when the trilogy disc can be bought at Shopto for £15! I had the trilogy on PS2 but got rid of it before I got to play WW and TT. Might purchase this at some point, as £15 is a steal.

£15 is the retail price? Dang, I just £25 shipped to the US.

I may have to lean on some of you wonderful people in the future if Ubi releases the Splinter Cell triology on a disc in the EU but digital only in the states (there's no disc release of PoP on PS3 in NA).

I'm glad I waited. I didn't want to import it and definitely didn't want to pay $15 each on PSN. Sucks for people who already bought the games on PSN though.
