Problem with EB changing your shipping method and charging more?

I recently placed an order using saver and cag15 for free EB Saver shipping. My order confirmation showed that I had used EB Saver, but when it was shipped, it changed to 3 Day Shipping and I was charged an additional $5.99. I called them up about it and they said I had incorrectly chosen the faster shipping, but had no idea why my order confirmation showed free shipping. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Same here, I order 2 or 3 times a week due to SAVER and that's never happened to me. Did they at least credit youback the 5.99?

Their email reply to me was:

Records indicate after entering the EB Saver free shipping code you
selected another shipping option from the shipping scroll down menu.
When this happened the code was negated. Sorry, but your order has
shipped and there is no way to alter it.

Before it had shipped, free EB Saver shipping was still showing.

Just before Christmas, my bf ordered one new game and one used game from EB and then used the SAVER code. I was there when he placed the it. EB broke his order up and then charged shipping for the new game. He had to call them up to get the charges refunded.

hmmm... i recently saw something that said you can get 3 day shipping with all used games. i don't remember if it said it was for free or for the same price as their cheapest shipping option. i think i saw it in the ebgames newsletter. :?:

maybe they fouled up and didn't give it to you for free???

i've ordered from them plenty of times and never had a problem. best of luck to ya.

This happened to me on my Steel Battalion order. Hmmm....didn't think anything of it at the time, because SB has that monster controller, I figured no big loss if I had to pay some shipping.

I did order a SF Aniversary Controller, and the packaging for that is pretty big. Maybe that's why they made me pay more. However they should tell you so in the checkout process. It's only $5.99, but it does leave a bad taste in your mouth.

I just checked and my confirmation email lists no shipping charge, and a subtotal that is less than what I was charged. About to get on the horn with them.

From the EBGames.com website:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/help/shipping/shippingRates.asp

If you use SAVER for the free shipping, and they choose to upgrade it, it's their nickel, not yours. Their shipping charges are based on cost, not weight, and the only time I've seen it has been for Steel Batallion, where they list an extra ship charge on the page itself.

Somewhat unrelated note, if I preorder Jade Empire Special Edition, and also order a used game with SAVER, then will Jade Empire be shipped free?

I'm pretty sure with pre-orders you can't do that. They won't actually hold the preowned (saver elgible) game for you until the preordered game comes out. They would ship they separtly (charging you for the shipping on the preordered game).

That would be a big no:

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/help/products/preOrders.asp

Orders containing combinations of pre-order items and in stock merchandise will be broken into separate orders. Each of the separate orders will ship as soon as the merchandise becomes available. Shipping charges will apply to each of the orders independently.

This also applies to multiple pre-ordered items on the same order.

My bad for not seeing it myself. I appreciate you actually answering me politely and not jumping all over me, even though I actuall deserved to be bashed. Oh well, guess I'll go order in store to save the 2 bucks.

On the SF Anniversary Controller page, it states there will be a $10 additional shipping charge, but it may not have stated that before.

No reason to jump all over you for not seeing it. Honest mistakes happen. Also, posting the link and the text means someone else will see it.

I purchased the control pad, not the joystick.

This just happened to me today also. I ordered 2 used games on 1/30 came out to $18. Used the SAVER code. I noticed on the next day under carrier it didnt have the USPS logo, it was blank, yet it was still being shipped and had no tracking number. I woke up today 2/2 with the FedEx guy droppin a box at my door. I wasnt expecting anything other than my games. I was suprised when I opened it and saw my games. I then went to My Orders and noticed it still said $0.00 for shipping. They didnt charge me anything extra.

I've had them break the order into multiple shipments (one with a used Blinx, one with a new Call of Duty), but they did not charge me shipping for either.

As for the OP, I would suggest giving them another call and politely insisting they refund the shipping amount. If they absolutely will not do that for you, call your CC and explain the situation. (Assuming you paid with CC and not with EB gift vouchers, etc.) I'd say it's pretty much total crap that they're claiming even though your order confirmation shows free shipping they must charge you for it.

I just placed an order last week using saver. The preowned game came today via media mail...but the other game that was new hasn't shown up yet. They didn't charge me for shipping the other one, but I'm wondering where the game is.

This appears to be an itermittent problem. The shipping on my order of Rygar+used PSOne game was correct (free with SAVER), and it came after Steel Battalion.

Well, I sent them another email, but this time providing pictures of my order confirmation email and checkout confirmation page. I did pay with both vouchers and credit card, but you can't use vouchers on shipping.

PsyClerk, what was the difference you were charged on SB?

My confirmation email showed zero shipping. I was actually charged $6.99, the two day rate.

I just called customer service, explained it to the rep, and was credited the $7. Took less than two minutes. Props to EB.

Special note: The guy I spoke with seemed a little disinterested. The several hundred dollars in purchases on my account in the past two or three months might have also had an effect.

hey neonglow..did the sf controller boxes have any of their eb stickers on them? i was also planning on getting them but im kinda worried about their condition..thanks
