Problems with Blu Ray

I have a 20GB PS3. I have watched a few blu ray discs on my PS3 ( probably 4 or so). I just watched Spiderman 1 on Tuesday and it worked fine. The next day I was watching Spiderman 2 and it starts freezing. I thought it was the disc so I put back in Spiderman 1 and it froze on that one too. After about 20 minutes it freezes regardless of the blu ray disc. I tried several.

My PS3 is updated so I don't know what could be causing the problem. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?

Is it well-ventilated?

It could very well be the PS3, if you call Sony they're going to have you restore the whole system first. So just a heads up.

It is well ventilated. I thought maybethe problem was I had it vertical, so I changed all my systems around... still no luck.

I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to the PS3, what would restoring the system do?

Useless.
Yeah, a busted PS3 is like a Busted 360, except it costs more and repairing it is a pain in the ass.
That's funny because my PS3 repair was free and painless.

Trying a PS3 game may give you a clue to the problem. Your system may have trouble reading Blu-ray media as it's playing PS2 games fine. If you can't get your hands on a game you should just give Sony a call. Like I said before, they'll probably have you run system restore on your PS3 (Formats the HD, so back up anything you want before doing it). Maybe Sony will have some troubleshooting techniques that will help.

Thanks. I'll try that.

Get bent. The PS3 is the most solid console available, in terms of hardware reliability. I've gone through 3 360s until I got one that was "good enough" -- it red-lights on boot sometimes but doesn't crash during games -- and yet my single 60GB PS3 has been functioning perfectly since day one.

just wondering, did the movie freeze during the "Raindrops keep falling on my head" sequence during Part 2? For some reason, it stops for a brief moment, similar to that of a dual layer disc changing sides...

It was when Peter met Octavius. And it flat out froze. It wouldn't let me do anything. I had to force the PS3 off and then I tried other discs and it froze in random spots. It never really froze in the same two spots.
