PS1 GTA'S waste of time?

In my opinion, they are good for atleast ten hours. But I haven't played since the PS1 age, so the outdatedness of it might bring down the fun factor.

They original games are a lot like the PS2 games but only in the mission selection, things like rampages and putting out hits on people and property damage, the only thing is its all from the top down perspective the graphics are hardly impressive and the story is no where near as cinematic. Most missions are relayed be text windows when you pic up a phone (almost everything is a "phone mission".)

If I recall correctly you can actually find the pc version online for free (legally!)

I played the PC version to death which is probably why I was disappionted with GTA 3

and its still fun just to gather up cars and watch them blow

I wasn't a big fan of the old school ones, but my brother loved 'em. Wow, look at that, I was absolutely no help!

I guess it wouldn't hurt to just pick them up real cheap used or something... I hate playing games on the pc (but the free is so very very tempting), other than Myst from back in the day, I'm a diehard console gamer, for better or worse...

i actually like gta 2 the best. i remember when this game was so rare. tons of fun, as long as you dont expect great graphics.

who else here was pissed they took out the overhead view in vice city?

I remember there was this free downloable game. You got this little red car and you tried to drive away from the cops dodging traffic and having to stay on the road, you'd pick up all kinds of random power-ups like spiked-wheels and super-speed... it had a top down view and reminds me so much of gta2 screens. It was a shitload of fun, the game had about 4 free levels and I played it to death... The best was when you got hit by the cops or went off-road the car would just explode a'la San Francisco Rush... Anyone remember this game or am I the only one to waste time on it?

No it wasen't a big name game at the time. It was just some little homemade program that you could download for free. Who knows what happened to it, good times.

Graphics DON'T make the game! Ever!

There's a reason why Pong, Donkey Kong, and Super Mario Brothers are still fun today...it's called gameplay. Who cares what a game looks like? As long as it's fun to play, graphics shouldn't matter. At all.

for about 20-30 bucks you can get 1,2 and london in one box. look at trus for it.

My penguin buddy here says it best.

Don't get your hopes up if you want graphics too similar to GTA3/Vice. But, if you're looking for hours of mindless fun doing bad stuff, download away.
