Some CAG's are reporting the rebate is bad, read on for their accounts. Sorry for the bad deal...

I found this over on FW. I'll be going after work to pick one up if it's still available here in the city.

Now to find a good deal on KH 1 & 2

Mod's note: Supposedly requires purchase of 2 $19.99 or higher games for rebate to be valid. As no one's posted any copy of the rebate, we're just guessing here. :whistle2:s

edit: There's no need to purchase any other games, at least at the FYE in midtown, Manhattan.

1. This original completed form.
2. Original TransWorld Entertainment cash register receipt dated 04/08/06 - 04/26/06
3. Original UPC bar code symbol from the package. No photocopies accepted. (Can I send in the price sticker, which has the UPC code on it?)
4. Submission must be postmarked by 05/26/06
5. Make copies of rebate form, UPC, etc. etc.

last time i checked sam goody is not a part of the fye company. i had to deal with that a lot when i worked at suncoast. :)

still a good deal, though i'm not a big fan of rebates. any idea when the offer ends?
 
I'm very tempted by this (I just posted a request and this is the best deal around) BUT ive had a lot of trouble with FYE and their rebates. Make SURE you scan all proof of the rebate before sending in it or they will try to rip you off. I did a king of the hill rebate that didnt ask for a UPC and when I sent it in they denyed it because I didnt include a UPC. Luckily I saved all my information (including the form that didnt ask for a UPC) so they said they validated the rebate but Im still waiting. I submitted this in early December but since it was invalidated and now fixed (found this out in March) I have to wait another 4-8 weeks or whatever.

Sure it is. TWE just bought them earlier in March. That's why there's been all those Sam Goody/Suncoast closings (The Media Play closings were before the purchase).
 
Word? I got an Xbox rebate from them just fine.

If I didn't have to work in 20 minutes I would have a hard on for this deal. It'll wait until tomorrow.
 
ah, yeah i stopped working at suncoast in january. i had to go back to college and such, plus the company was going under so i didn't want to deal with that too. :lol:
 
The rumor from over on FW is that you need to purchase 2 $19.99 or more games to go with it.

That should weaken the deal a bit.
 
Well I just got back from FYE and picked up a brand spanking new slim ps2 for $129.99 + tax. At the register, the rebate printed out and there's no mention of having to buy two games with it. I'll edit the first post with the details.
 
Nice to know. No one had confirmed yet, and someone on FW brought that up. FYE has done rebates in the past where you had to buy games to get the MIR, though it's nice know you don't have to do that.
 
Yeah, I was actually surprised too. Although I did get my NES Classic SP with a $30 rebate without having to buy anything else. My friend was also convinced I would have to buy something else though.
 
I'm still waiting for about 4 rebates from FYE from back when they had it for the Seinfeld season sets. Don't remember how long ago that was but I guess that it hasn't been that long. I would definitely go for this if I didn't already own one.
 
LOL fatbeer, like I did? I swapped something like 8-10 copies of Powerdrome to various Fye stores, plus 2 copies of Geist, for a grand total of $107 in credit.

Thing is, all those games combined, only set me back $32 to purchase(and I think even less because I used my Gamer card and EB Edge card to buy them, not to mention the credit I had from trading in a broken PS2 and XBox controller to EB).

Mind you, I had to add 30 bucks to pay for the rest of the cost, but after getting the rebate back from FYE, it'll be like I got a slim PStwo for $32.

I told a few Gamestop employees over the weekend about the somewhat insane prices FYE gives for trade ins. LOL I think the one clerk is gonna buy up their 7 copies of Powerdrome to trade in.

BTW, for whoever posted that info, it's good to know about wherehouse.com being a good indicator as to what FYE/Strawberries/Coconuts/etc will give for trade in's.

Either way, I'm happy with my slim PStwo now.

Meh- whats the point in picking up a PS2 at this point- 100 bucks wasted in my opinion- sure it has great games, but since I don't have one yet, I can wait until the PS3 goes through it's first price reduction in 2008.

I'm going to get an XBOX 360 4 months after the "new" ones are in stock- I.E. better processor :D
 
u are lucky that your local FYE doesn't care, one of the FYEs here KNOWS what they have in stock and reject trade-in from time to time (Powerdrome for sure) and the other FYE checks their stock before doing trade-in ;o

i got one because i want to play music games, a lot of rythm games controller are using the regular PSX/PS2 controller ports that PS3 lacks (well, i'm sure there will be adapters but still...i don't like the 'uncertainty' plus i really wanted to play Taiko)
 
Actually Mackaikai, my local FYE stores did that too. I ended up having to trade in copies of Powerdrome while I was on a trip to Atlantic City. I think we must've stopped at 2-3 malls(and the Best Buy and EB stores near/in them).

Mind you, I did eventually get my credit built up, so I'm happy about that.

Either way, I got my PStwo and the rebate form and the rest of the rigamarole is sent out, so I'm on my way to my $32 PStwo.

Now, all that I need to figure out is, what to do with the $100+ in credit from Walmart that I amassed.

And, to Friedram, I picked up a PStwo because I still have most of my PS2 game collection and want to play them and not watch them collect dust.

hmm $100 or $500+ ? I already have a 360 but as we all know the games are fairly expensive. A Pstwo is a great alternative system to the 360 because you can pick up many great games for less than $15. I don't plan on buying a PS3 for a loooong time anyway (atleast 3 years).
 
FYE will only give me $6.00 for each Power Drome and I could get them for $3.00 from EBgames/Gamestop. Plus I was told before at an Gamestop that Indiana has some stupid trade law that states that you can only trade in one of each title per day. So if I could only trade one Power Drome for credit today, and then have to wait until tomorrow to trade in another. Since the deal expires tomorrow, my effort to trade in the two games would only save me $6. Pointless in my opinion.

But I still will go ahead in pick up a slim PS2. I have an original from launch day and has never played CD games and lately has been being picky with DVD games. Plus progressive scan DVD playback will be nice to have. Thanks for the deal!

I'd say I get more than $50 out of my PS2 each year. That's the point.

So I imagine that the current promotion ends tomorrow (er, today, depending on where you're reading this). There may be another one that starts up on Thursday, although with the price drop happening in the middle of this one, the next might not be $30.
 
I just picked up a PS2 (to replace my broken one) from Sam Goody tonight, and my dates were slightly different. It said:

I just got off the phone with an extremely helpful FYE employee who told me that the rebate offer was still good. I'll be headed there tonight to pick up a PS2 and to verify the offer.

So the FYE rebate has also been extended to 5/17/06.

I was not required to purchase anything in addition to the PS2.

I'm going to fucking kill Transworld. The sob's 'screwed up' my PStwo slim rebate paperwork, listing it as a $3 CD rebate. WTF!!!!!!! Now, I have to send in a copy of the paperwork I sent in originally to the 'resubmissions' dept. Buncha fucking BS, if you ask me.

I should've stapled those forms together.

Hmm when I look on www.rebateshq.com mine also shows up as an Invalid $3 CD rebate. I will be calling and bitching them out tomorrow, this is ridicilous. This isn't the first time it has happened so I made sure to keep scans of everything. No wonder they offer such good deals after rebate, they fucking rip off half the people who submit them. I'm tempted to report them to the better business bureau but I doubt it would do any good.
 
Ok im really starting to get pissed now. The number is supposidly 1-800-779-6219 . The first time I called an automated thing answered then quickly disconnected me. I called 4 more times and it just rings through. Does anyone have another number I can call?
 
I think you have to input some options, then wait a bit and it'll offer you an option to speak to a rep by pressing I think 6.

It took a couple tries, but I got through.

I'm glad I got the postcard or I'd have kept ignoring the emails I was getting about the $3 cd rebate deal.
 
Thinking its a good thing I passed on this deal.. FYE and Transworld in general are such scumbag companies, I remember getting burned by them on a rebate for GTA: San Andreas where the rebate they put out at the time of the promotion implied you could get $30 back just for buying the game or GTA double pack. Then they realized they screwed up so instead of honoring they sent everyone letters saying we messed and went online and changed the rebate coupon to reflect what they meant initially after the promotion was over which was buy both games not either. I remember not too long ago a class action lawsuit was brought against them as well for bad rebate practices.. seems like they haven't learned.
 
God they drive me insane. I finally got ahold of them and of course it was some foreign person who could barely speak english. They tried to convince me that my $30 rebate was really a $3 one, after getting pissed I demanded to talk to someone who spoke decent English. I talked to someone else and after about 10 minutes of arguing with them I have to fax them all my stuff again. This is ridicilous, they are the most crooked company I have ever dealt with. How in the world could they honestly think there would be a $3 rebate on a $130 item?!?

Have you tried going to the store to complain? I remember hearing once on FW they had problems with their rebate, so they went to the store to complain and got their money on the spot.
 
Well they called me back when I wasn't home saying they didnt get the fax. I calleed back and they said the lady wasnt working and to call back in 72 hours which really pissed me off. I went ahead and faxed them 5 copies of my proof just because I'm gettng so frustrated. I think I might just file a dispuite on them, would I be best to do this with the attorney general of my state?
 
I'm definitely going to the FYE I bought the PStwo from tomorrow and asking them to fax in the forms or whatever. See if maybe putting in a complaint there will save me extrenuous steps later on.

I know when I tried filing against one of those 'offer' sites for not fulfilling their end of the bargain on a Dell computer deal, the BBB did squat. They sent emails and letter back and forth and contended that I had misread the offer.

Thing is, I took a screen capture of the page where the offer was and printed it up prior to doing the offers.

I offered to send in a copy of that to the BBB for verification of the start page where I got the 'idea' that I had to do 3 offers to get a PC for 'free'.

But I got one last letter from the BBB, which said they considered it resolved, etc, etc.

Now, the complaining in store and states attorney general route, I might contemplate, as people have said stores HATE bad publicity and people making a scene.

And if that don't work, I'll just go to the SAG step and hope the state will get their act together for them.
 
Ok situation solved. They called me back today and refused to give me the rebate. They said they received the fax but it was a misprint and was only suppose to be for $3. Of course I was pissed and argued with them for about 10 minutes but they still wouldn't honor it. I told them I'd be filing a complaint on them and the foreign half-english speaking guy just say do whatever you want. I then went down to the store ready to raise some hell but I got no resistance what so ever. I told the guy they wouldn't honor the rebate and he just shook his head and said "this is a crappy company." He refunded my $30 + tax and I was on my way. I suggest anyone else who got burned to go down to the store it was purchased at. I will not be buying anything else from FYE.. terrible company. What are some good sites to rate their company?
 
Sounds like this "rebate" is not worth the time. No way should any of us have to go through these measures just to get a $30 mail in rebate honored. Oh well this explains why FYE is in the shape they are.
 
But yet, Demolition Man, wasn't it FYE that bought up the remnants of Sam Goody? They can't be in THAT bad of a shape.

But, I didn't get out today, so I'll DEFINITELY be going tomorrow to the store I bought the PStwo from to see if I can get my $30 at that level.
 
The $99 sign is still up in fye, bot a ps2 with my fye credit. after the rebate it is like $50 for a new ps2. great. rebate form says valid from 5/18 to 6/7
 
They re-did the rebate, extended it, if you can call it that. I was given a number yesterday to contact FYE corporate directly regarding my problems with the rebate deal. I got a recording, saying they 'couldn't help me at this time, but to leave a message, yadda yadda'.

I certainly hope I DO hear back from FYE's corporate office regarding this, as I'm still rather annoyed. And I DON'T want to resubmit the rebate info until I know I won't just get the run around AGAIN.

EDIT: In case no one figured it out yet, I got stonewalled at FYE yesterday and given a number to call regarding my rebate. Supposedly, now I'm going to be talking to someone from FYE corporate(when and IF they call me back).
 
Thanks for the heads up guys... I haven't thought about this falling through.

Looking back at my email, I see that my rebate is being tracked through rebatetrack.com. It confirms that my rebate is valid for $30, and it was received on 5/25. The bad news is that my rebate has been in "final processing" for a while now.

It's odd that we're dealing with two separate rebate companies it seems.
 
I'm about to mail my rebate form out, but am not sure which UPC they want---the pricetag or Sony's UPC? Which one(s) did everyone else send?
 
Just checked my rebate status and it's listed as invalid. Reason: Invalid Purchase Location. How the funk is that possible when I bought it at a sam goody. This is really lame. It's the first and last time i'll buy anything from them.

I cut out the UPC from the box itself (so I guess that's Sony's UPC). My rebate has been listed as "valid and ready for processing" for about 6 weeks now. Next week will be the 7th week, and I will then send an email to them to complain. This shit is getting out of hand.
 
my rebate showed up invalid as well, they claimed it was not the same model number, wtf. anyways, here is their number 888-221-4692. the rebate center is parago, which also takes care of staples rebates. chances are a phone call will resolve it, they validated mine on the spot and it's showing "Your rebate has been entered and is scheduled for final processing."
we should all think twice about doing fye/transworld rebates going forward.
fyi - i bought mine at wharehouse music.
 
I was just about to send an email about my rebate processing for over 6 weeks, but I just checked on the status and it says that the check was put in the mail yesterday. So maybe this rebate was legit after all?
