Ps2/Guitar Hero II for PS3?

I just ordered a PS3 and plan on selling my PS2. The problem is I want to sell my PS2, but play Guitar Hero II. I read online that you can't do this b/c there is no "playstation" button on the guitar controller.

Anyone know if there is a fix for this (sony pls firmware update!) or if the new upcoming Niko Play Adapter will fix it (I dunno cuz it doesn't look like it has a "playstation button" either.
 
I have a great hypothesis....

We know that when playing ps3 games...you can use ps2 controllers, when using the usb adapter - I got my controller to work w/ Resistance... no problems. Only time the usb adapter doesn't work is when the ps3 is in ps2 mode and playing ps2 games.

I'm thinking that when they start emulating ps2 games, that the ps3 will stay in ps3 mode, because it's using emulation, and thus there's a likelihood that the GH controller could work w/ an adapter.
 
harmonix.com.. they have an usb adapter for their products... but I'm wondering why they would have an adapter... (usb) they say its for the computer but I know it was supposed to be for the ps3... but they found out that it doesn't work.
