Ps2 Slim wont work, anybody know what's up?

my ps2 slim is acting weird as shit. If i turn it on with the top lid up it goes to the browser i can check the memory card and all that, when i put a disc in and close the top, nothing happens, the lens doesn't move, nothing. If i turn on the ps2 with the game already inside, all it does is go back to the standby mode, wtf? anybody know what's up,. I tried google and all i found was problems with the lens still moving but it not reading the disc.

nothing happens to that side of the ps2, any help without me calling sony...and are they gonna charge? actually pretty pissed because I barely ever used my ps2 and i treated it damn well, i have a white one too ;_;

Does it read PS1 games? The only time my game didn't load was when I did not snap the game in the spindle completely.
For those big phat PS2 systems, you could turn them sideways and they could read the game disc.

the lens does not move at all to even attempt to read anything. i snap everything in perfectly, DVDs, Ps1, Ps2 games, nothing. it doesn't even move :(
 
looks like ill have to pay 60 bucks to get it fixed if that, and i have to ship it using my own money. you know as much as the 360 gets bashed on for dying so much, at least MS fixes it for free and ships for free both ways, and i've never had to wait more than 2 weeks for a return on it. but Sony's charging $60 for a 130 console seems way too excessive...but fuck i do love my white slim ps2...argh...thinking of just buying one on ebay maybe..
 
That sucks, you might want to get the store's warranty for this kind of thing (Target or Best Buy give you up to 2 years of free exchanges).
 
so i called again, just to see if i could get a cheaper service, turns out i can get a replacement for $45 bucks. thinking about going ahead and doing it...it's not too bad and its better that paying more for another system and all that...bleh...i've invested in too many games i don't play to let this one go lol.

Check if you have 2 tabs sticking down underneath your lid. Usually when a tab or two is broken off the lens will not move because it thinks the lid is still up and disc will stop spinning.
