I would assume you don't need a Sony card. Also shipping was free when I tested it out, maybe ymmv.

PS3's havent had PS2 playback for over a year. The 80gb that you have seen in store for the past year and half dont have ps2 playback. I see alot of people think all 80gb had ps2 playback. Honestly i havent really missed ps2 playback. I had a 60gb but returned it b4 my extended warranty exspired and got the new 80gb and honestly its basicly the same system.

The ps2 playback (yes even on the 60gb) wasnt to great. I had a ps2 and a ps3 playing ps2 socom both side by side and the ps2 really did play it much better. This was after the so called ps2 fix btw. i got a ps2 at a yardsale like new for $30 a month ago lol

It's free shipping unless its an international shipment, I love free shipping, but I will have to pass on this deal because I already own a PS3.
 
I have an 80gb non-BC, which as you know is basically the same thing as the 160gb and it has no problems with noise. I think all PS3's are quiet.
 
Yes, but i think yours came with the controller... so that is important to you than this really isnt much different - my guess its just a cheaper alternative for those that dont need 2 controllers.

As for the 2nd controller, I called SONY and was told that the banner was a website error (as i assume we all expected), and they do not plan to honor the 2nd controller as part of the deal. I know people have taken screenshots and gotten it in writing that they will get a 2nd controller; i would be interested to know if this actually happens

Anyone getting shafted by Sony on this? I ordered because I got the 160gb drake edition and and extra controller for $318 and it showed both when I ordered last sunday. Today it finally is delivered and it does not have the extra DS3 controller. I call and am told it was a mistake and sorry. I ask to talk to a manager and get hung up on. Call back and am told that it was an error and they will not honor it and there is no managers to talk to at all ever in terms of already placed order. Wow worst customer service ever. Called back got sales manager Liz and she said it was there in error Sunday morning and they took it down and refuse to honor any sales that were made be4 the error.:bomb:

When I saw it I did not see the extra controller included and it wasn't supposed to. Only when it was $350 was the controller still included. That does suck however, but you still got a good deal.

It did include it when I ordered! It still had the banner saying that you got a feww DS3 controller with a purchase of a PS3 system. They later took it down that day but never ever sent me anything that stated they were going to fail to honor my order according to what they had up on their website during the morning.
 
I ordered this last Sunday and on Wednesday my order was still "Processing". I called Sony Style and was told that they didn't know when they'd have the bundle in stock. Screw that. I canceled the order and bought the slimline 120 GB system instead. Price was the same and I still get the 50 buck statement credit for opening a Visa account and using it to buy the system. Yeah I don't get Uncharted but I rented it from GameFly and should have it before my system gets here.

For anyone who did order. Apparently if you email CS asking for the controller they'll email you one. I didn't order it as by the time my CC was approved it was OOS

Correct and false. The PS2 playback on the 60GB is fantastic. Have you never used one for anything other than SOCOM? It's the best PS2 ever made.

Unfortunately it seems like between a year-and-a-half and two years they start developing issues with their fans constantly running at high speed, even when idling at the XMB. It's so bad that I'm actually considering selling mine and picking up a slim. I haven't played a PS2 game in months and it's giving me an anxiety complex.

You're right that they've been out of production for a long time, however.

yes, the size of the tubes are so large now that it allows you to receive physical items though it!

But to correct myself in order to handle any confusion, they will mail you a physical controller (not a coupon, in case anyone though that was implied)
