PS3/360 Dark Souls CE pre-order $49.99 @ Newegg w/ free 3 day shipping

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/606312-dark-souls/59953295

It's different for NA and the UK.

NA you get-
Metal case
Art book
Digital Bonus Features
Digital Soundtrack
Physical mini strategy guide (with option to download it)

UK you get-
Folded box case
Art book
Physical Bonus disc
Physical Audio CD
Digital guide

There's some that will tell you otherwise, but check out most stores in each region and you'll find that this is the case. Not sure if the CE or LE covers will get the knight helmet cover or the knight with bright souls cover.

Some people mentioned "steelbook" but that was never explicitly stated by anyone. "Metallic case" was as specific as they described.

I find all this speculating funny....has anyone actually contacted Namco to try and clarify this confusion?

More or less the same thing... But since it's in question now, so even "metallic case" might not be the case.

Man, now I'm worried about my pre-order at Newegg.. sounds like this release cancellation is a fairly common issue.:whistle2:k
I find all this speculating funny....has anyone actually contacted Namco to try and clarify this confusion?
I emailed them when they originally said that it was no longer a physical guide and the response I got was something along the lines of, "Thank you for contacting us about Dark Souls. I do not have any information about your inquiry."

I'm sure many people have contact them but I doubt anyone got a response. If they had, it would've been posted everywhere.

But my money's on a just the special box (probably cheapo cardboard) and artbook being actual extras, with the OST, making of, and guides being digital.

I was under the impression that is was going to be a metal slipcase large enough for the standard plastic game case and artbook to fit into and that Europe gets a cardboard slipcase. Where is the source of everyone's doubt that the metal case is included? By looking at the promo pictures, the EU gets the videos and soundtrack on discs and a regular strategy guide to download. The US gets dlcs for the videos, soundtrack, and mini strategy guide and the metal case.

I did a lot of snooping around about this awhile ago. As of 2 or so weeks ago, this is the state of the CE's, and the things we are not sure about. Different sources say different things are included, so until Namco says definitively what is included, NO ONE KNOWS. Yes the metal case could be included, but it is unlikely in my opinion. If i remember right, Namco has taken it off the list of included items in their official pre-order listing.

US CE
Game - physical
Artbook - physical
Slipcase - physical, probably cardboard

Soundtrack - digital
Behind The Scenes - digital
Guidebook - Unclear if it will be digital or physical
"Metal Case" - Conflicting information, but it is almost certain that this will not be included

EU CE
Game - physical
Artbook - physical
Slipcase - physical, probably cardboard

Soundtrack - physical (possibly digital)
Behind The Scenes - physical (possibly digital)
Guidebook - digital, confirmed by a UK retailer. Still not confirmed by NB, but even more likely to be digital than the US release
"Metal Case" - Conflicting information, but it is almost certain that this will not be included

At the risk of sounding like an incredible geek, even by this site's standards, a metallic case could also mean a Metal Pak (e.g. some copies of the Dragon Age CE) or the much more common bulky tin box (Mass Effect 1 CE, Prey CE, Gears of War 1 CE, etc.).

It definitely wasn't going to be a steelbook even if the case was metal. It was likely going to be some sort of cheap metal container to house everything rather than a case specifically for the game.
wonder wish version is gonna be Better, PS3 or 360? I already got Demons Souls
This is one of the few instances where I am definitely getting the PS3 version of a multi-platform title. I'm quite certain that the 360 version is being handled by a different team at Namco, while From Software themselves are doing the PS3 version.

Edit: Am I the only one who'd be relieved if it just comes in a normal case? I like my games to look uniform on the shelf, not stand out. A metal case definitely stands out.

Thanks for the heads up.

I canceled my amazon pre order because even if amazon drops their price 10 bucks to match it I still dont get charged tax at newegg and neweggs free shipping is twice as fast as amazons free shipping.

I never pre ordered from them before but Im not worried. Ive spent thousands of dollars in hardware over the years and they always have excellent top rate service.

It's still going to come in a box that would be the same size as the metal case. Would you still choose the cardboard box over a metal one?

Thanks OP, placed one on Newegg but I am also keeping the order on Amazon to see how things shake out... also waiting on a confirmation for what the hell is actually coming in this CE lol

NewEgg doesn't have a physical presence nor a distribution center in their state.

Similiar to how a lot of people get tax free on Amazon.com but I get charged tax because Amazon is based in Washington State and I just happen to live there.

Same here. I also preordered a UK version from GAME. I like that the bonus video and soundtrack are on discs and the dlc guide isn't referred to as a "mini" guide. Not sure that these differences are worth the extra money though. I'll probably just keep my Newegg order and cancel from amazon and Game. It would be nice for some clarification from Namco Bandai on both US and UK versions.

So... which version are you guys going to get?

I usually buy the 360 version of multiplatform games (except for Final Fantasy XIII) but Demon's Souls was PS3 only...

My OCD is confusing me!

There is a good chance this will be better on the PS3. From Software is handeling the PS3 version as the lead console for this game, and the port is being handled by another company. I saw a few quotes from them saying the game data would have to be significantly compressed for the 360 version.

Plus, i would expect the online community for this game to be better on PS3 since lots of people that played the original will want to buy the sequel for the same system.

If you have no other reason like a 360 preference or more friends on 360, then definitely get it on PS3. There probably won't be much difference, but it will be slightly to significantly better on PS3

From what I've read, the PS3 is the lead platform so it will be more than likely be superior. The 360 version is also being heavily compressed to fit on a single disc from what I'm hearing. Ultimately I'm sure both will look fine so just go with your controller/console preference

I read about this online as well as characters being able to jump now. It probably won't be that big of difference between PS3 and 360. We will see once it gets closer to release.

I'll be getting this for PS3 anyways. Not sure about day one though
