PS3 60GB Buying Advice

I'm not sure if you were agreeing with me or saying that Delivery Confirmation = tracks the package. But I am fairly sure that in this case the seller used Click N Ship (since I was notified at midnight on Friday), and that it only has Delivery Confirmation and not actual tracking. From USPS website:
Some USPS® products provide Tracking, while others provide only Confirmation of Delivery... Lower-cost products, such as Delivery Confirmation™, only include Confirmation of Delivery.
I believe Click N Ship (which, by the way, is a TERRIBLE name for a service - reminds me Gulp N Blow) only has Del Conf and not actual tracking.

Dude. Calm down and wait for your package. If it's not there in two weeks, raise hell.

You're acting like the crazy kid on Goozex that starts threads demanding where their package is after two days.

:lol::applause:

It's like the people who complain that their game from X company isn't showing it's shipped out....at 3am when the office/warehouse isn't open.

Really? Is that what this is like? A seller takes five days to ship, not for me to receive my item but to ship it, and USPS possibly doesn't show tracking so I can't even be sure it has shipped or is simply 'prepared to ship', and I am wrong to be a little anxious? It's not 3 AM the day I bought the item. It's fucking 5 days later. I am not being unreasonable to expect that someone that has feedback reporting they ship quickly might, I don't know, ship quickly.

Paying $270 for something, I like to keep tabs on what's happening with it. For a $40 game from Amazon, who I trust implicitly, I don't worry about it. It gets here when it gets here. I also usually don't want something so badly. But I guess looking forward to getting a new console is the wrong way to act. Sorry to be so uncool.

the op has a right to be pissed his package hasnt been shipped out after 5 days. thats what i think some of you are missing its been 5 days and the guy hasnt shipped it out at all. dc should be tracking though but that said usps tracking is pretty shitty sometimes it works and other times you get the package while the site says its still in transit.

keep trying to contact the seller and if by 2 weeks its still not there yet start considering your options on what to do to get either what you paid for or a refund.

I haven't contacted the seller yet at all - I am giving him the benefit of the doubt right now. I was mostly just updating this thread with info on how the whole thing was going - for some reason I thought people might like to know - but I won't do that anymore since people seem to think I am 'over reacting'.
I am upset that the PS3 took so long to ship (if it shipped at all), but am waiting until tomorrow to send an email and ask about the status.

Shit happens and people have lives outside of worrying if buyer A or B is getting their panties in a wad because they didn't get their Ebay item they sold out for shipment a nanosecond after it sold.

Something could have happened in the seller's personal life that made immediately shipping the item and contacting buyers to let them know impossible.

You're right, I should never expect someone to ship in a timely manner because their time is more valuable than mine.

Their hypothetical problems in their personal life means nothing in this instance, and neither do mine. If I wrote to the seller and said, "Someone just died and I can't pay you right now, sorry have to cancel", how much sympathy would I get?

Dude sells something on Sunday, takes five days to ship. That is slow in my book. What constitutes slow for you?

I am not saying he is outside his agreement to ship necessarily - the auction had a 5 day window stated right there. And I expected he would ship around wed or thur. But whenever I do business, I do everything the best that I can, in a timely manner - I would have had the console out the door the next day, myself. Three days would seem average. Five days is slow.

But, I digress. If you think I am being unreasonable by expressing my opinion, the unsubscribe link is on every page and every auto-email.

I didn't mean for my last 2-3 or so posts to come off as 'god you're impatient', just that sometimes people WAIT until they have SEVERAL things to ship or that stuff might've happened that had the seller away from their computer for quite a bit.

While I do admit that I too would be getting antsy over spending so much for an item and it not shipping within a couple of days, I have learned to realize that sometimes other things come up and people can't get those packages to you yesterday no matter how much you'd want that to happen.

I know, and I think at this point I'm seeming more impatient than I am. I am pretty excited to get this. I thought people might want to hear how things are progressing, I guess, and the constant status updates probably come off as "WHERE IS MY PACKAGE". (I don't think I ever wrote that... lemme go edit some posts real quick heh).

Also, all of my impatience has been confined to this thread as well. I didn't think emailing was necessary unless I didn't see notification of shipment within 5 days, which I saw on Friday, although it still doesn't actually show shipped. I'm giving USPS until tomorrow to update their tracking, probably email mid-afternoon, just to see what's up. I'm sure he's shipped but it's just not changed in the tracking status.

And although I will be marking him down on shipping, it will most likely be somewhere around average speed. I hope I didn't give the impression that I was going to mark him as terrible, just, well, a week still does seem like a long time to wait to ship. Can't sellers write somewhere which days they ship in an auction? Even an email after winning letting me know would have been nice. I didn't ever email because I am really not that worried about it, and I know people do have better things to do than to write "I will ship within 5 days".

Anyway, another heated discussion, brought to by Grilled and IATCG.

I definitely understand being annoyed at where your package is when so much money is in limbo with nothing to show for it. That I definitely agree with. Hope you get the PS3 and all is well.

What was included in the auction? I love my 60GB as well, but I worry about its longevity. Though doubt I could bring myself to sell it.

Five days might seem like a long time but would you rather get a well packaged system sent out in a week or a hastily packaged item that got sent out the next day.

I just hope you don't get the worst of both worlds. Crappy packaging, slow shipping, and not a word of apology from the seller.

Just the stuff that comes with a new PS3, av cables, power, 1 controller. I know, I know, I overpaid :p

Geez I hope not!

I think 3 days would have been plenty of time to get it ready to ship. I mean unless this guy is adding one new piece to the box each day, I just don't see how packing it can take more than an hour, tops.

However, I guess if there is serious cleaning involved, I can give leniency for that. Bought a Saturn once from eBay and it REEKED of cigarette smoke! Here's hoping this arrives in the best of conditions!

An update (if anyone cares to know):
USPS website updated, I DO get tracking for this item as others have said.

Item says it went through sort facility Sunday the 15th, so seller may have shipped it out Friday. I don't really see how anything could happen on Sunday with USPS, so I give the benefit of the doubt here.

Looking forward to it :D At least during the week I've got work to keep me busy :p
:whee:I can't take it anymore, did you get it??!!!!
Haha, yes I did get it. Wife and I have had a busy weekend, didn't get a chance to check in.

System came Saturday morning, everything is in decent condition. The controller had some weird white stuff on it, looked sorta like dried milk.

Spent most of the weekend playing Uncharted, had one point early on where it froze up trying to load into Home. To me it seemed sort of just like a 'normal' freeze, whatever that might be, but it just didn't seem really bad. We've been trying to really play it rather hard, for long periods, to make sure it works well. Borrowed a PS3 memory card adapter today so I can transfer my game saves over and check out PS2 games.

I think it's a fairly decent transaction, although having the system ship 5 days later only to arrive having the controller look a little suspect and myself having to wipe the HDD (it was very simple but would have been a nice touch to have the seller simply do it themselves - I mean they took the time to erase or transfer all their info, and the quick wipe took about 5 seconds), but I feel like the seller could have taken that time to clean these things up. In my opinion what would separate a great seller from a good one. No real complaints.

If you're still experiencing a bunch of freezing issues you could always try a file restore.

You can find out how to do that at this site: http://playstationlifestyle.net/2009/10/14/keep-your-ps3-safe-with-this-guide/

tl;dr version: Hold the reset button on the PS3 until the PS3 shuts off the first time, then press and hold a second time and select option 3(file restore) when you get to the safe mode menu.

This option also makes games load in faster from what I've seen.

I do this once every two weeks to a month depending on how often and for how long I use my PS3.
