I have a super crappy DVD player and was wondering if anything is known about the PS3's DVD player. Will it upconvert to higher resolutions?
EDIT: Ah, google is there anything you don't know?

Another thing I was wondering...what does Sony plan on doing about a remote? If one of our motivating factors for buying a PS3 is supposed to be Blu-ray movies, are we going to have to pay extra for a real remote? It sure looks that way.

from momitsu page
This player will upconvert DVD video to high definition and support resolutions varying from 480p to 1280 SXGA with varying scan rates. Being a full-spec DVD-I machine, this player will easily support high-resolution analog video output at resolutions up to 1080i, via standard component output, or with optional HD-15 VGA adapter. If you don't have a HDTV, the V880-DX will support your current television now, and your future TV or monitor.
The Momitsu DVD-V880-DX will support the following media types: DVD, DVD-R/DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, VCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, SVCD, and VCD. It will support MPEG-1, MPEG-3, MPEG-4, MP3, and JPEG file types.
