I decided to put this up so people wouldn't just make threads everytime they found a PS3 at Best Buy. Using the 60GB Preorder link from a couple of weeks ago I was able to come up with a search link


60GB PS3 Link


Enter your zip code and it will give you a list of the closest stores. If the stores appear in black then they have units in stock and if a store is greyed out then they are sold out. As of right now many stores seem to have units in stock meaning that they are probably holding them for Friday. Also PLEASE NOTE: This stock checker isn't updated in real-time and so always call before heading out to a store but always ask to speak to a manager as most employees will either be unaware or told to lie.

Hope this helps some of you out and I'll try to find a skuid and productid for the 20GB. If any Best Buy employees know it please post it and I'll add it to the OP.

No, as you can see there's no "Add to cart" button next to the stores so you won't be able to do this until PS3s become permanently available on bestbuy.com (probably some time next year)
 
dammit. Thinking I would never find one until after Christmas, I spent all my PS3 money on Christmas gifts for everyone else last weekend, and now Best Buy here has them in stock. Oh the pain.
 
I just tried the link and it definately shows the availability of PS3s in my area. I just got one from the link.
 
I entered my zip code and it says that every best buy around has them in stock when I know for a fact that most of them are sold out.
 
yep, all the stores show them in stock but after a few calls they are all gone. this does not work very well. not up to date.

Ditto. I even called a while ago and they said they got 30 in but sold out.

As I said in the OP a lot of stores are saying they are sold out but they are actually holding them for Black Friday. But you're right that it won't be real time accurate either

I couldn't generate an actual item page - looks like they learned from the 'accidental' preorders. Also called a couple stores - looks like they both got some this morning and sold out. Unless that's a line.... they denied knowing if there'd be any on Friday.
 
FTI - this in store checker is not accurate - I live in the Chicago area and the finder shows PS3s supposedly being available - however, after calling the store it was not in stock. Call before you fly.
 
Myrtle Beach got 12 in this morning and then 3 in the afternoon. Of course all sold out, but better yet they did get the Memory Card Adapters in :)

Don't expect honest answers on the phone from Best Buy employees. My friend was lucky enough to grab one on Wednesday, but the employees were very hesitant to give it to him. One employee told him flat out that if he thought my friend was an eBayer, he was going to tell him they were out of stock even though they had a number of 20 GB units in the back.

From what I heard there was a memo to hold them for Sunday's ad.
 
Well did anyone get a PS3 today?? I didnt see anything advertised at my local BB. Didnt bother to stop by with all the madness

What an ass! He can't play PS3 God. If someone wants one, sell it. It's not like there is a market for it on Ebay anymore. I saw 60gigs going for $700 all night tonight. Not like last Friday ($2500-3500)
 
I stopped by one of the BB here in Grand Rapids, MI today and the kid working said they had them this past wednesday and may be getting more for sunday
 
Is there a link for the 20GB version? I don't want the semi-rip-off 60GB one.
Every nearby store claims it's in stock, but that's hard to believe.
 
Now this is interesting... If I use the link in the original post of this thread, only 1 of 6 stores is listed as having stock. If I use the link in the thread that I linked to in the PS3 forum, 5/6 stores are listed as having stock. What's the difference?
 
I went to Best Buy yesterday as all the close stores started showing availability mid-day...and they claimed they didn't have any.

I pushed it, I think I was talking to a manager type guy, and he just claimed a manager would be called when they came in, blah blah blah. I asked if it was possible they had come in but weren't unplacked-mentioned that I've had to get games from the back before that are there (Capcom Mini-Mix), and he claimed no.

And the inventory thing still says they're there.

I don't know what's lying. I have 2 out of the 6 stores in my area telling me they have the consoles in stock on the availability checker. I don't really trust Best Buy because I know the shit we used to do when I worked in retail. We had to hold special items until a Sunday Ad came out, or a special sell.

They could have them in stock, but they are holding them for some reason. I just want a PS3. :(
 
I'm pretty sure they're holding them because 2 stores had availability the last 2 days and now all 6 stores close to me have them in stock. I trust this checker since I used it to eBay 6+ 360s after Xmas last year and it was always accurate.
 
Huh, every store in the Austin area says they have them. This seems wrong. Also, I believe the site IS updated in real time as far as receiving, but not for selling out.

When I was at the store for Neverwinter Nights 2 and they hadnt received it yet, it suddenly turned black right after the truck came, but well before they had put it out on the shelf.

Unless they changed it from last year, which I really doubt, it updates once things sell out too. I would get a xbox 360 and watch the availability disappear later on the same day everytime.

I had this same situation with the 360 last year. It would show stock, but it they claimed they didn't have any.

Best Buy has really been pissing me off lately (but Circuit City too...)

I went back yesterday, and again no Playstation 3s. And it STILL shows inventory at all the stores.

The Best Buy (Mt.Vernon NYC) where I work got them in this morning at 10:00 am
they have been on order since Monday.We received 24 60 and 18
of the 20 gigs.So the locator is kinda working it's just a few days ahead
of the store actually getting them in stock.

A friend of mine was finally able to get his from there.....

Mine sold out in 20 minutes in GB, PA. My friend wanted one, but walked out without one.
 
Went to checkout the nearest BB that has shown availability for 3-4 days now and an employee said that when they get them in they hold them until corporate says they can release them?

Yeah my Best Buy sold them this morning, but I noticed that each day a new store would become bold in black. They do hold these consoles until they are officially allowed to sell them which is a load of bull. Once they get them off the truck, and check them into there system then they should be placed out in the store for sell.

The people at Best Buy won't give you an answer if they have them. So here is a tip for everybody that wants a PS3:

When you call your local Best Buy tell them that you waited 15 hours in line on the launch of the PS3, and your console broke and your disc only goes into the disc tray halfway, then spits it back out. Tell them you purchased the warranty, and ask them what you should do since they have yet to recieve anymore in the store. They *WILL* tell you if they have any, and if they are expecting any.

I hope someone finds this useful. :)

That's a bold face lie...the only thing that employees are being told from
corporate is that "we" can not purchase them but if you are a Best Buy employee just go to another store.We don't get discounts on hardware anyway,just buy your games at your store and use your discount if you have to.

Here's a little tip...if you find a "nice" enough Best Buy employee ask them
if they can pull the PS3 up on the RSS.That lets us know if any product is in the store,on order...etc.

If it says it's on order..keep showing up in the morning,that means it's on it's way,it's going to take about an hour for it to received in inventory before they can sell it.They will probably take over to customer service so make nice with the media representative.Grab some games......grab some controllers.

Play the PS3 demo or Xbox360 games like I made my friend do :lol:

If you go back and they tell you that lie again.

Go to customer service or ask for the manager in regards to the PS3.As long as your not acting a fool they have no reason to lie to you about "holding them"...if anything they want to sell as many as they get asap!!
 
Mine had some this morning...for the 2852805th time they sold out 1-2 hours before I got to the store. The employee I talked to said they're expecting more tomorrow or Saturday and to go back at 11am...I'll take this with a grain of salt but could be legit. This particular Best Buy has been getting them in frequent, small shipments. It just so happens that I'm never there at the right time.

That might be a more convincing story if the PS3 had a disc tray.

Yea and what business is it of the BB employee what you do with things you buy after you leave the store.
