Anyone else having this problem?
I'm in the same boat, what's even worse is that I just bought the last of us yesterday. My 1tb slim got screwed because of the update. Can't use it until new update comes out.
Ditto for me. Got The Last of Us for Father's Day. I was just hoping to play a little before bed and foolishly agreed to the update on my slim. smh. Even tried formatting my 1 TB HDD this morn...of course it didn't work.I'm in the same boat, what's even worse is that I just bought the last of us yesterday. My 1tb slim got screwed because of the update. Hopefully you can't download update 4.45 at all at this point (Sony supposedly removed it) but if you are prompted, yes by all means, avoid it.So I shouldn't download this new update for a few days?
From everything I've read on the interwebs, I must be the ONLY person to be able to downgrade to 4.41 after the 4.45 update. PS+ auto-magically downloaded the 4.45 update for me (PS+). I started my PS3 only to have it hang at the pre-xmb wave screen like everyone else. I booted into safe-mode and picked the system update option (#6?) and it asked for firmware 4.41 or higher - which seemed odd to me - but I download the latest 4.41 from Sony and installed it via USB and now all is well with my PS3. Problem solved.
All I can figure at this point is that the automatic update/install failed to complete somehow and even though it "bricked" (wrong term) my box, it never finished completing the 4.45 update; which allowed me to downgrade.
Just for the record, this is a fat PS3 with a 1TB drive.
I'm curious to know this as well... considering trying it out myself. Were you able to sign in? I downloaded and installed the new firmware fine (4.41) but then when I turned my system back on I couldn't sign in, but I'm not sure if it was my wireless acting up or if was the PS Network.
