PS3 - Lair - Overstock.com - $38.95 ????

Was looking for some deals for PS3 games on Overstock.com and found Lair for $38.95. Only problem is the MSRP is listed at $39.99 and the release date is wrong compared to Amazon. Not sure if they would honor this deal or not. Is this a place holder for a different $40 game that is supposed to be released on 10/31/07? I was thinking Warhawk is gonna be $40 but Amazon has a different release date for that too. What do you guys think?

Oh yea if you do give it a try you might be able to use a 8-12% off coupon or $1 shipping if any coupons are active.

You could order it and bitch and customer service when "you saw it al wal-mart but your order isn't going to ship until november" :)
 
Actually, judging by EB Games and Amazon, the MSRP is the typical $59.99. This is an excellent deal if Overstock will actually honor it.

Seems like a good deal, $20 off retail. You get to ride dragons and the previews shows a lot of combat with dragon.

Release date Aug.14th, according to GameStop & GameSpot. I'll have to think about this one, since I didn't know this game existed until today.

Factor 5 (developers of Rogue Squadron on GameCube and N64) are making this game so yeah, they know a thing or two about aerial combat. ;)

$20 off retail is pretty good (Overstock also doesn't charge tax in most states) even if it is 3 months late. You could always buy one from Best Buy and return the sealed Overstock one to reduce it to a 2 month wait.

great deal but ive wanted to read some reviews on the game before i get it though. the trailers havent looked so good.
 
I had a $5 off coupon from a messed up order :) I couldn't ever get it to work on any games..but it applies to this game. Up for 1

They have all looked amazing, especially the latest E3 trailer.

Hope I can last however long it takes them to ship it...I really want this as close to release as possible.
 
Thanks for this great deal. Still debating whether to get it. I guess we can preorder it and cancel later if reviews are bad as long as game hasn't shipped. BTW, are there any coupons that work w/ videogames? All the ones I've seen for new customers don't work.
 
I see they bumped shipping up to $2.95 now. I wonder if that's going to afford an extra dimension to the shipping package, or at least a few extra plies of cardboard...

I'm waiting, too. I really want this game to be good and the trailers have *looked* good for sure, but I'm not convineced it's going to be fun to *play*.

The fact that they're waiting until after the game releases before they put out a demo set the warning sirens off in my head.

Its coming out next month. This appears to be a game mixup like the Buy.com Alien Syndrome deal...that is why they have MSRP @ $39.99 & release date at 10/31. You might need to contact customer service the week the game comes out...

I'm temped to do this buy I really want to get a new tv before I buy any more ps3 games that aren't cheap >_
 
Play gave it a 9 (just like they give everything a 9.)

they said the graphics are amazing, but from what I understand, they weren't too hot on the gameplay.

...last week, the UK version was delayed by a pretty hefty chunk of time; but, from the sound of the announcement, the US version wasn't affected. However, seeing as how this is being developed somewhere in Europe, a delay in the game's home territory doesn't speak well for our chances of getting it in August.

Either way, one thing is for sure: the PS3 needs some original games, and it needs them NOW.
 
Well I went ahead and placed an order. Hopefully it'll go through.

Man I'm having some luck with my new PS3. Got in on the free remote and blu-ray movie at amazon. Was able to exchange the resident evil movie for another one at circuit city. Plus I got Resistance for 40 from the amazon dotd. Now it looks like I'm gonna score a copy of Lair for cheap. Way to go PS3!!

Next find good deals and preorder GTA IV, Assassin's Creed, and Stranglehold and you're set. :D
 
Placed my order.

Awesome my first PS3 game.(7 months later)

Its from factor 5,it has big dragons, and 7.1 PCM(awesome). I don't need a review. I really hope this game has gore. Dragons are effin violent Era-suck.
 
Excellent find OP. I dont care if this does come a bit later. I have a backlog of at least 30 games I need to play.

Then again you actually liked Sonic PS3. You're opinion when it comes to PS3 games (or just games in general) is less than moot.

Trailers looked okay, but there's far too much negativity stemming from the preview builds to blindly pay more than $20 for it. Don't get me wrong, I want the game to run out awesome. I like the concept, and more importantly, the PS3 is really hurting for a good exclusive at the moment.
 
only order if you are willing to risk them shipping the wrong product and probably after a month to get to you.

Overstock's incompetent Customer service comes well into the range of buy.com and ecost.

Well, I've been looking forward to this game. Previews in the mags have looked really good and I'm starving for good PS3 titles anyway. Thanks, in for one too! Hope it works!
 
Ordered one via ebates.com, 4%...

$42 shipped for a new PS3 release is not bad at all. The trailer is good for me, the game can't suck that bad...

If you're ordering other things along with Lair from Overstock, don't do it... you will be charged for Lair if the other items are in stock (Overstock charges the entire order at once, sucks, but...)

It does ship early, so yes, you'll get this on or before the release date. I got my Harry Potter on the release day, but if they didn't print that "HP book, do not deliver before 7/21" on the box, i could have gotten the book a day or two earlier...
 
Wow...was on the enter credit card info page, hit submit...the confirmation page showed they charged me $58.95! WTF Overstock.
