ps3 slim warranty/protection plan?

so im planning on going to gamestop tomorrow and buying a slim 160gb ps3 with the free $50 gift card and was wondering if anyone had any info on the gamestop product replacement plan,i've read that they only have a year policy and im guessing they only replace it once,if they still even offer the plan that is.anyone know how much it would cost? im thinking i would be better off to just get the extended 2 year playstation protection plan for $59.99 from sony.what do you guys think?:whistle2:k
 
I personally would go through sony if i were to buy a protection plan. I generally never buy them, however if i were to buy one, i would go through the manufacturer instead of a retail store.
 
I would get it through Sony. I know in the past if your a PS+ member you could get a 2 year warranty after the manufactures runs out for $44.99. I don't know if this is valid anymore but its worth looking into.

It is still valid.
 
The $50 Product Replacement Plan warranties from Best Buy used to be the best, since you could just go in at the end of the two years and grab a brand new one for the cost of the plan. So if there were hardware revisions that made the system better within that time you got to take full advantage of them.

Yep yep :D Half the time Squaretrade has 30-40% coupons. I got a 3year warranty for my PS3 120GB slim back in july for $27

Just be sure to put the exact price - don't round :) For example, if you paid 299.99 for the PS3, use that value. Putting 300 as the value would bump you into another price bracket and raise the warranty about $10-15.
 
Sorry to bump a month later, but I wanted to purchase a warranty for my ps3 slim.

I was just curious and wanted to know if anyone here personally dealt with squaretrade and had to file a claim with them? I was thinking of going with a squaretrade warranty on my slim once I can find a usable coupon. I believe I have 90 days after original purchase date to insure my slim and its close to the 60 day mark.
