PS3 turns off/on by itself

I have a dinosaur ps3 that I refuse to let die (60/BC) I play ps2 on it, so I cant afford to give it up. But lately it has turned off by itself numerous times. I understand that to most likely be overheating, even though my ps can get air all round it. Whats weird is that it will turn ON by itself, and my video will be reset, displaying the "HDMI detected...." message. When it does this, the ps is in standby, it will beep on a few secs, then turn back off, and cannot be turned on by the touch button, or the back, or controller...the only way is to eject a disc. Typically after this it stays on a few hrs...shuts off. However I had it on over 48 straight once. Any clues?

It is a problem with remote start and your network settings if I remember correctly. Do you have the newest firmware? On older firmware if you would enable remote start the PS3 would get certain network signals confused and think it was remote start/shutoff or something like that. Do a ging search (sorry google).

Can it do this with Remote Play/Start off? cause I never registered my PSP (Which I now found in my work bag with a broken screen) and I reset the PS3 to default sets when it did this the 1st time. I think I have between 2.4-2.5 firm. whats latest?
