So I stumbled across this little gem late last night. Google Media Server (Beta) is a gadget that you add to Google Desktop (you know, that cool side bar) which allows you to share your music, photos, and even YouTube videos to any uPnP device. This supposedly works with the PS3 (as long as you have uPnP enabled) but I couldn't try it out because it was so late. Anyone else want to take the plunge with me?

Google Media Server Gadget for Google Desktop.

You'll also need Google Desktop if you don't already have it.

wow, it's insane what you can do with igoogle

my pc is hooked up to my tv anyway, so I don't have much use for it, but this is intriguing. I guess I'll try it out later.

edit: dur, google desktop, not igoogle! I don't have google desktop...

I'd like to try it, but no Mac version yet. From what I've heard it still has a few kinks in it, and youtube streaming isn't very smooth at all.

Well, i've spent some time with this app but my experience hasn't been very successful. While the PS3 is able to see my laptop as a media center device, it is unable to actually see any of the media I have shared. The PS3 keeps giving me all sorts of DLNA errors. I'll have to spend more time with it but I can't say I am impressed thus far. I think the interaction with the PS3 is where things are going south. Usually google apps, even their beta ones, work really well.

I've used this and the only problem i run into is that i can not view any pictures on my ps3 at all.It always comes up NO IMAGES no matter what kind of folder im in.NOt sure if its because the pictures on computer are saved as DELL IMAGE EXPERT TYPE or not but i've tried changing to bitmap and that doesnt help at all.

Anyone have any ideas?
