Those metal slug games have crazy input lag, check a review before you buy it.
That's what I read about Anthology but that's a bad PS2 port of the original games. XX is a newer version of Metal Slug 7 which was a PSP game, probably runs good on PS4. Metal Slug 3 (PSN standalone version) should also be alright.

I don't get how the Mafia 3 Deluxe Edition is on sale all the time but the DLC itself never is.
I’ve actually found that it’s actually kind of rare that Season Passes or standalone DLCs go on sale on their own, they are almost always only discounted when paired with their games. And after a while, cheaper than the standalone passes.

I wanted physical Odin Sphere (PS4) for $20, but that probably won't happen at this point so I might get the digital version. Also considering Metal Slug XX, Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins, and maybe Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (not sure about the quality of the remake) and Power Stone Collection (not sure if it has decent single player).

Question: how RPGish is Borderlands? I've always stayed away from this game because I really just like to shoot stuff and blow things up, but I've heard so much amazing stuff over the years that I'm genuinely curious. Are the RPG elements overwhelming here? Will I spend 90 percent of my time upgrading my character and weapons and all that other boring stuff? Or is there enough explosions and things going boom to keep someone with a very short attention span (such as mine) busy?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty light RPG. If you like shooting stuff, this is for you. The RPG stuff is just collecting new loot and comparing it to what you have and equipping it if it's better. There is a skill tree but it's relatively basic. It's hard to know what your frame of reference and tolerance is for RPG, but Borderlands is definitely not heavy or in-depth. No spells to learn or potions to drink, etc. It's definitely made for a mass audience to appeal to non-RPG players.

I've seen people get gravity rush 2 for $7 new at walmart clearance so I'm holding out for a physical copy under $10

It’s been a while since I’ve jumped into Borderlands so my memorry may be a bit rusty on the RPG mechanics, but from what I remember it doesn’t have much deeper progression than your average action game does nowadays. You don’t have to worry about how you’re building out your character like if he’s a proper Mage or anything. You pick up guns as loot from fallen enemies. There’s no large scale dialogue to get through. No moral choices. It’s basically Diablo in its RPG elements and it’s a true FPS in its gameplay. There are side quests, and it’s an open world, but the action stays heavy throughout.

Okay, I'm sold, thanks for the info. The game always looked like fun but I was worried it was all crafting and skill trees and what not. Sounds like Borderlands is an FPS first and an RPG second, which is more or less up my alley.

Borderlands 2 is awesome, and the progression comes natural. Picking a skill tree is actually a lot of fun!

Don't think, just buy. Physical is consistently on sale for $15 though.

Borderlands 2 and its DLC is pretty awesome. Pre-Sequel is pretty good but not as good as 2.

Wow, I was in for Creed, but fuck that noise now.

Would jump on creed if it dropped again..
One of those times where waiting until after work when everything is settled on the ps store backfired. Oh well.
Yup, and now I refuse to buy it until it falls to $8.99 or under. Same thing happened with the price glitches for Bioshock and Borderlands Collection earlier this year ($11.99 each). And now I'll never get them because they'll never fall that low again.

Edit: Unless Sony unclench their assholes and offer us a 20% off code this weekend.

Edit 2: Sorry for complaining first thing in this thread. Thanks for your work typing this up, Frisky. I'm in for Gravity Rush 2 and Subject 13, but that's it.

Weird, Unravel Bundle is $3 more than the 2 games together. Unraveled 2 is cheaper than it was in the BF sale; think I'm going to grab it along with Gravity Rush 2 and Nidhogg 2.

I was curious the last time I really spent money on PSN and not counting VR games, I've only bought 2 games on PSN in the last 20 months. Kinda crazy I'm looking at buying 3 games this sale.

Unravel Two is on my list as well, but I bet it's going to fall to $4.99 by Christmas. I feel like I should learn my lesson after Fe kept dropping and dropping and dropping all year.

I read this thread and there is no mention of Monster Monpiece.

Clearly this is either:

  • A mistake
  • Everyone owns it already and knows the joys of rubbing their Vita
Also, I am bummed about the price change for Creed. Was ready to get sweaty.

For anyone that doesn't have Talos Principle yet, give it some consideration for$10. Definitely the best puzzle game I've played since Portal.

I'll second that. It's great too to learn all the backstory from the computer terminals.

You can't beat it for $3

also i'm home alone watching game play on youtube and i turned the volume down

I'm thinking EA family bundle (which includes Unravel 1) plus buying the second game separately.

i can see gravity rush 2 being free soon. crystal ball told me so im gonna pass on that
Yeah, I could see all 3 games I bought being free soonish. That holds me back from buying a bunch, but these were all cheap enough that I felt like I might as well grab them now.

I think the point is, you can beat it for $3.

Monpiece really is a good and fun game; if anything the rubbing feature actually drags it down a bit, because it's tedious and you need to do it with every card you want to power up.

Rhetorical question: If I buy the Disney Afternoon Collection, will I actually play any of them?

I wonder if by shutting off the servers for gravity rush 2 that might mean they will never give it away for ps +. Even though the online treasure hunt mode is small, would be strange to inject a large player base now.

Had forgot about Talos. wanted to play it as I love puzzles games.

Might get the hitman GOTY upgrade. Gotta look into what all it is and if it's worth it
