That game is consistently in the top 10 in sales every month. Its an essential for any Vita owner. Its also been that price before, so waiting just gives a chance for a better sale or PS+.

I always thought of getting LEGO The Hobbit until I found out it doesn't cover Battle of the Five Armies.

This indeed is the biggest drawback for it. I remember people saying Traveler's Tales and Warner should have waited until the final movie was released before making/releasing the game.

I had passed it up multiple times when it was on sale after I had traded in my physical copy for PS3 a few years ago. It's one of the few LEGO games I enjoy, even though it only covers the first two movies.

On the survival stages i'd usually set up Tesla towers for perimeter defense and drop mechs to cut down the bugs that got through. No other game from the past generation surprised me like Helldivers by how much i enjoyed it. Never would have even given it a second glance, but said friend bought it and loved it so much he gave me the digital content code from his disc copy that allowed me to download the PS3 version(and the game supports cross play). A month later i'd bought a copy for myself, along with three more copies for friends for Christmas gifts(it was $16 for Black Friday in 2015, RIP GCU).

I too had a lot of fun with Helldivers. I used the laser tanto mostly which is like a medium range, one-handed laser sword. It's decent for a main gun and frees you up to carry quest items and still contribute at full power since it can be wielded one-handed. That game is a blast with friends as it is easier to laugh about it when you have friendly fire mishaps.

It looks like Shadow Complex is at its lowest price ever for PS4. Is this game worth playing in mid-2018?

Nex Machima is super fun. My favorite shooter since Resogun. Great graphics gameplay and music 10/10. Just got it for $6 in this sale.

I've started playing a lot of Metroidvania games but Shadow Complex is the only one I've ever stuck with from start to finish so that should tell you something. But I was unemployed when it came out so I had all the time in the world to play it and no money to buy other games so that might have had something to do with it. Still I say awesome game and my favorite of the genre.

To chime in on the entire discussion: (I love twin stick shooters)

Nex Machina (2p) is good, but it's just a very fast-paced and twitchy arcade game. So fast, you don't realize you're done an area fast. It's also really short, meant to be played over and over for a better score.

Jydge (2p) is for Neon Chrome (4p) fans: smaller task-based quick missions at a slower pace; quite fun and satisfying to replay for different missions (I enjoyed first clearing everyone out, then replaying to kill objective ASAP & GTFO alive under a certain time amount)

The real comparison to Helldivers (4p) would be Alienation (4p). Long map-based objectives/missions with RPG elements.

I'm on the fence about Tesla (4p) (the only one in this post that I don't own), since it's closer to Crimsonland (4p) or I Made A Game With Zombies In It (4p), arena-based, rather than exploring/moving like Dead Nation (2p) et al.

Special nod to Ruiner (1p), which I am very excited to try but haven't yet, but that one is single-player story based. (also see: Livelock (1p))

I think that covers most of the quality multiplayer twin stick shooters that aren't true rogue-like on the side of Isaac or Gungeon.

In summary, every game I've mentioned is great, none of them have disappointed, and they're all worth picking up when on sale.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PSP) is missing from the list. I think it's at an all-time low of $1.94 (per pspprices.com). It will work on the Vita if transferred via a PS3 system.
