PSN+ is it worth it?
at 3.33 a month its not too bad of a deal. I think I may have to give in
It's now ~$4.17 a month. The 3 month bonus ended.

I cant say for others but its not worth it for me

If i want a psn game ill buy it, not wait months after release while hoping what i want goes on sale/free.

The $50 I would have spent on plus is better spent on the games I want when I want them for me.

Dont let other people mislead you on this it basically boils down to two things for most gamers.

Do you want a lot of content for a low amount of money or would you rather have less content but complete control over what you get.

Its simply quality or quantity and while Im sure that you get quality in the psn plus games you dont get choice and you have to wait before the thing you want hopefully goes on sale.

For me nothing would piss me off more than spending $50 on plus and then the things I want either not going on sale or gambling that it wont go on sale and buying it at regular price.

If i had plus and bought something at regular price and then it went on sale in a week or two id be so pissed off.

Plus not having a significant known release schedule kills it for me.

I will never buy it as is.

You can buy any game and risk it going on sale the week after you buy it. + is not for everyone but some of the excuses just make no sense. If you don't want it that's fine just say you don't want it but making all these odd ball excuses about stuff that can happen without + makes no sense to me.

Having plus just means you get access to More sales not that you are locked into only buying games when/if they go on sale. If I want a game and it isn't on a + sale, I just buy it as if I didn't have +.

I guess I see value in the other features and not just the games that come along with +. Again, not trying to talk anyone into it but at least try to look at a different perspective. People keep looking at + as being all about "free" games and being unable to pick those games.

I have several magazine subscriptions, I certainly can't pick the content of those magazines. Some times I pass over articles without reading them and other times I read about stuff I would have never looked for on my own without it being presented to me.

thats not an oddball excuse. you dont know when the sales are going to happen so if theres a game you want, you can either buy it and risk it going on sale for later (and if it does you just defeated the point of paying $50 for ps plus for me at least)

or you can wait eternally and pray it goes on sale.

that right there is what i hate most about plus, its the deal breaker of all deal breakers.

if you like saving money and dont we all, then why would you pay money and then be held hostage by those kind of sales where you cannot make an informed decision.

Its perfectly logical and if you find fault with my logic, there is something wrong with you instead.

I don't believe you can gameshare the automatic download feature however gamesharing aside, i subscribed to PSN because the auto download for patch updates is so convenient. whenever i turn on my ps3 i never have to worry about waiting another half hour to play a game. it's just ready to play. the time saving aspect is worth it to me alone.

The point is a game can go on sale at any time, I almost bought dragon age 2 full price then what 2 weeks after it came out it was on sale for $39. I don't subscribe to + for the occasional sale prices, they are an added bonus to me. If I want a game and it's not on sale I am not going to put off buying the game and hope for a sale. If I do buy a game and it goes on sale 2 weeks later, guess what that's life.

However you are right, there must be something wrong with me because you're so logical. It's obvious with the your lack of punctuation, capitalization and serious ability to form a sentence that I am no match. :error:

About the PS+ sales, it seems that the trend is that many new releases will be discounted for plus users. Then, there will be the normal price drops, but plus users get an extra discount.

So, if you buy a lot of PSN games either when they're first released, or wait for sales, being a plus subscriber will typically get you an extra discount.

So I guess what a lot of plus subscribers are saying is that if you add it all up, the $50 pays for itself. Just like I said before, plus is only good for people who buy a lot of PSN games, or people who just got a PS3 and have no PSN games.

If you buy one PSN game here and there, PS+ probably isn't for you.

Guess im in the minority... but I think plus is worth it. If you gameshare the games and use the features, theres no issue at all. There are unlimited ways to break it up, but there have been several good free games.

Littlebigplanet (all but US)
Stacking (release day)
Sega Genesis games prior to normal release
Sam and Max complete
etc

Naturally the program will have up's and downs, but you can rationalize it many ways and in the end get nowhere.
How dare you, sir!

I spent 1/5 of $49.99 for your information! =)

But seriously, drop the hostility. There's nothing wrong with gamesharing things as opposed to paying full price just for yourself, doesn't make you special, just means you're in better financial standing or you foolishly waste money.
My point was that if PSN+ kept everything they ever offered, people could game share a 3 month subscription and pick up everything that has been available from Day 1. There would be zero incentive to sign up yearly or to re-new subscriptions.

Considering I have both patience and a giant backlog, I wait for all PSN games to go on sale before I buy them. It's not like they're going out of stock anytime soon.
Nice! Welcome to the club :D
Add me to your list if you wanna hit up some online play sometime

You seem to keep forgetting the part where you lose all free games if Plus expires. Unless you suspect someone will play and beat all those free games in 3 months and don't care about losing them... in which case I couldn't even do that if you paid ME.

No, I really don't think it is worth it.

With gamesharing, that $3 a month put towards PS+ could be used for $15 worth of content.

Content that you choose freely and whenever you feel like purchasing.

Content that you can keep for an unlimited amount of time (barring a freak hard drive accident).

If you can gameshare PS+ it may be worth it, but if not $3 a month is not worth exclusive game demos and/or themes in my opinion.

I got plus the first month it was offered. Of all the "free" games offered, I probably already had half of them.

The other things included have been well worth it for me. Between the betas, game trials, and the rest of the "free" things, I definitely recommend it to anyone who plays on PSN.

Most important things to me are Cloud service, automatic updates because we all know how long it can take at times, and early demo access. Also getting free or cheap games is a plus but I'm not in it for that really.

sounds good man will do. i've only played black ops online over the last couple of months. reason being is i'm working on my backlog of single player campaign games (currently playing: Spiderman Shattered Dimensions). i'll start playing Killzone 3 in the next couple of weeks since I just beat that campaign.

1) My username what, is awesome?
2) The lack of ability to communicate shows the lack of intelligence which I guess in this case equals superior logic?
3) Finally something that's free and has a lot of use to me.

^^^please take this elsewhere

Anyways, I subscribed just in time to get the extra 3 months added. I started my subscription early Tuesday so I could get one weeks free stuff and then when the store updated at night I got the new weeks free stuff. Pretty smart on my part....wish I actually planned that on purpose though, it was an awesome unintentional thing.

I have never tried any of the mini's before. If I still had a psp I could see the point in these but the few I've played I have no interest for and would rather put that few bucks towards something bigger and better (but they were free so can't really complain). Really wish I could have got in when Stacking was being given away....oh well.

We'll see how the next 15 months play out but I'm happy with it

Really screwed up how badly the PS3 handles minis vs the PSP.
