PSN Name Change

Should Sony allow players to change their PSN name?

I really think it needs to happen. Perhaps, do it like Microsoft and charge so much to change the name. So, people are changing it every 10 seconds. I know can just create a new account and terminate the account you no longer use but I'd rather keep the trophies I have worked so hard to earn. Just really wish we could change it because I do think about how stupid my PSN name is wish to change it.
 
I recently changed my PSN name and yeah it sucks you can't carry over trophies. If I start getting home sick, I just log into my old account and look at my trophies, LOL! Maybe Sony can at least let you carry all that over to the new PSN account being that they are on the same console. I hope they don't start charging for things like that. I really enjoy playing online for free and hey, they have Plus to get those that don't mind paying extra for stuff.
 
I deal with this everyday, i hate that i have to use my psn name that i have now, i would gladly pay 10 bucks to change it. I want all my names to be the same across all platforms.

I try to keep all my usernames (sites, XBL, and PSN) similar. Obviously, "Organization XIII" is taken on PSN and XBL, so I had to come up with an altered version. Overall, I like my name across platforms.
 
Yeah. I wanted just 2SD-Out. But when PSN told me I couldnt start my name with a numeral I had to switch it up. I stupidly realized a few hours later I could have spelled Two instead.
 
I actually kinda like that they don't allow you to change them... gives you pause before you go about naming yourself after something you won't care for in a year. Should've thought things over before calling yourself SSJGoku69, Slipknotrulz666 or Johncena420
 
I think achievements and trophies are insignificant and thus if I wanted to change my name I would just create the new account and let it be done.

The only thing I would not like is losing save files, but I'd make sure to do the switch after beating whatever game I was workign on
 
not really. you can always make another psn log in if youre not happy with the name you chose but i like my psn name. i took my time figuring out what to choose and its cool imo. ever since hackers i realize your handle is important.

:applause:I completely and totally agree on the trophies. As for the save file thing, I am a bit perturbed by publishers(looking at you, EA) who have save files locked to a specific PS3 or PSN name, though I guess they do that so people can't cheat and copy each others files to get trophies they didn't deserve to get or whatever.

I ran into this issue when switching from my 40gb fat PS3 to my 120gb slim. I had JUST finished a particularly difficult mission in Mercenaries 2 and wanted to switch my save file over to my new PS3 from my old one.

So I go to copy it and found out it's copy protected. The only way I'd have possibly been able to copy it over would've been if I had an external HDD(or large enough USB drive) and copied every game save and file on my PS3 at that point.:roll:

I'm ok with my main PSN name, but I have several alternate accounts which I only made for the lulz, including one that says Playstation Sux but with a capital I in place of the lower case L as that name was taken or whatever.

Exactly. My name will be awesome from when I made it till PS4 and so on.

People say they're willing to pay good money to do this but I think losing your trophies is a fair price to pay.

even though im not a hardcore fan like i once was, i enjoy my psn name...

I play Mag with a guy that goes by the name of SpicyWiener......yea...so jelly right now.
