Well sort of, but it's a lot larger which I don't like. Want something small.

15.04" (W) x 4.13" (H) x 13.78

vs.

7x7x2 (Alienware)

PC gaming is cool and Steam is awesome. I'm just more of a console guy. I gave it a sporting chance. I figure if I ever get back to it my games will be there. I'll also probably boot some smaller games up on my laptop from time to time so it's all good.

what are the other super convenient methods of managing a digital library of hundreds of games on the pc that manages patching, cross game chat, purchases and of course actually launching? valve's got shit pretty sewn up as best I can tell - even if they did make a dumbass business decision how many people would really ditch them? people have sunk literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars in to their steam library. everyone would ditch their whole library because 'fuck valve'? no way. pc gamers would take it just to maintain access and justify the new monthly cost.

not everyone of course, the principaled legions would certainly be vocal as hell and start coding an alternative or whatever, but you're nuts if you think everyone would just split en masse. and that's all assuming it was some giant fuck you business decision, not something shrouded in benefits like free games and extra special sale benefits.

is origin still a thing?
this is an argument about digital ownership, not pc gaming you fuckwad!

*sigh*

Here, I've shared this probably a half dozen times already, but apparently you've missed it: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInput-Wrapper-for-DS3-and-Play-com-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller

Install it and your DS3/4 is now plug and play and works as a 360 controller. If you're going to say that saving 2 seconds from performing this install is an advantage for consoles, then I'll accept that I'm wasting my time and people will simply make up silly justifications why they prefer one platform to the other.
Thanks, I'll check it out when I get home. I'm not joining in on some anti-PC brigade so sorry if I've made you feel that way. I agree PC gaming is cheaper in the end while still managing to outclass consoles. I'm simply saying I spend so much time with them at work as well as other things I prefer to not game on them. I like that "divide", as irrational as it seems. Consoles allow me to not have to think about anything. It's a Tradeoff.

Not you, the gifs.

I haven't even been reading what you've been posting.
Well I haven't been paying attention to the gifs, so I guess there's some irony here.

I didn't mean people would ditch the platform entirely, but the most popular MP games on the platform are F2P games that either can be found outside of Steam or have tons of alternatives outside it. Dota 2 makes Valve million, but League of Legions is also incredibly popular and if one of those decided to start charging you to play, how many players (many of them teenagers and others who aren't going to bother paying a monthly fee) will switch over to the other because now that one is truly free?

There are so many other reasons why they wouldn't start charging for access though I find the notion crazy to even consider. They'd have to deal with the thousands of different online structures in games (many of which don't even use Steam for MP and have either built in or pier-to-pier online), abandon their F2P initiative which has one of their most profitable moves in the last few years, sort out issues with all the publishers who would likely feel entitled to some of the MP money, and then suffer the wrath of thousands of people who now have to pay extra for something they've had free forever.

I'm not saying it absolutely couldn't happen, but it's been tried and failed before, and Valve isn't stupid enough to try it again. I think you'd see a considerable drop off in the number of players playing F2P games on Steam, which already make them millions, and it would only be a short matter of time before people hacked the games to allow for free MP.

Gabe Newell is famously quoted as having said "to counteract piracy you have to provide better service than the pirates". Charging for online MP isn't a better service, and I don't think Valve has any plans to ever attempt it.

Here is why I hate PC elitists... I agree you can get the absolute best a game can bring on PC... but to my point, I know I will get 10 years of gaming on my PS4 without having to worry about upgrading or paying anything beyond the 400 I spent on it. PC, to last 10 years I will have to buy upgrades every few years... not worth it!
Console gamer: I want to coast on an old machine and play games with sub-standard graphics for 10 years.

I gotta say that this totally legitimizes him being shot a bunch of times. Shoplifting is despicable. He deserved to die. He was fat anyway so he had no reason to be hungry. Man, what a joke.

Well you're looking at it from the angle of a steady bar going up in the quality of visuals, which is how it always is on consoles. On PC though you're getting the peak of the bar, but you're getting it now instead of seeing a constant rise in the quality. That doesn't mean you're somehow getting worse performance as the years go by, you're just not seeing the constant increase in the quality of visuals because you have it from the start. Those that want to see that boost only have to throw in a new graphics card every few years (which if you look at it as costing $100-$200 is just what you would be paying to play online on PS4). You're still paying the same amount of money, you just aren't putting it in the same place.
I pc gamed for ages. I had an apple II, II+, IIgs, and a pile of pentiums. Everything from Wasteland to Counterstrike. The reason I mention both is because it's quite similiar to the console issue... the Apples never really needed 'upgrades' till the next model came out years later. The PC/Pentiums were always lagging behind, always needed upgrading, always felt 'old'.

I hate that feeling.

I also disagree about your assessment of the 'peak of the bar'. That implies I buy cutting edge at the time of purchase, which is always considerably more expensive. But if you wait a year, you get a far better deal but are never 'peak'.

Then, for the next 3 to X years, I always need to worry if my current PC can handle the latest FPS/driving game, or if I'm going to need to outlay cash on some upgrade.

Or... I can buy a ps4 and never think about any of that. When I used to spend days tinkering with my PC, altering my boot screens and otherwise futzing around with optimizations, PC was viable. Now? Just give me a ps4.

I responded to your point about "no racism in any games".
Then before you insult someone for their [assumed] race, how about you learn some reading comprehension?

I said: "I didn't think one racist thing during that game. Or any game really."

This was in response to someone saying:

"There are a ton of stereotypcial / racist things that I want to say while playing Sleeping Dogs and its only been the first hour."

Never, once, has a game made me want to say "racist things". I stand by that. Nowhere did I say a game can't be racist.

My god, you're unbelievable. Seriously. The only thing actually racist in this conversation was you -- you're the only person assuming race and judging people for it.

"I was trying to be understanding despite vehemently disagreeing."

Yeah, by insulting me and my opinion by inferring my race. I repeat, go fuck yourself you condescending holier-than-thou prick. no offense. 'trying to be understanding'... my god, you really do think you're fucking ghandi or something.

in what fucking way is implying i'm white therefore ignorant to the issue somehow being 'understanding'? it's bottom of the barrel sophomoric level race 'debating', both rude and fallacious.

Yeah and that was just for $50 in cigars. Imagine if he tried stealing a car or had a weapon. They would have to pull out the bazookas.

but i was just saying this is the first time that video has been seen. It kind of destroys the whole innocent teen walking down the street. and 6'4 290lbs wasnt about him being fat, but that he was a very big figure and the cop probly didnt think he was just out of highschool. and the fact he uses force and intimidation to strong arm rob the store doesn't help.

Pretty much where I stand despite this new development. I can only imagine how hard a job cops have, but that's why they are trained. Shooting an unarmed individual several times? I don't care how big he is. Don't we have some people pushing 290 lbs in the thread?

Plus, the officer who shot him didn't know he was the suspect at the time. Unless I'm reading wrong.

I got my PS4 tax free.  And got MLB 14 with it.  And got $60 credit for a future purchase (which I bought a $50 PSN Card and a Beavis & Butthead DVD).  True story!

I wonder if Amazon would do preorders at no tax too. Hmmm...

The Destiny bundle would be $449.99 without tax. It would be $459.98 to buy a PS4 + Destiny. Plus the bundle comes with fun things like a 30 day Plus trial and $10 PSN credit. So including the credit, it's about $20 savings for the bundle.

But if they don't do tax free on a preorder, the Destiny bundle bumps up to $478.11, while a PS4 tax free + Destiny is $463.70. Add $10 PSN credit if I wanted to just make my own bundle and it's $473.11. That'd basically be like a $5 fee to get a white console vs. a black console.

But there's no racism in video games, so it should't matter if I get white or black, right?

I thought all PS4s come with the credit and Plus trial?

No, you're unbelievable for attempting to make it something bigger than it needed to be. If I misunderstood why not just correct me instead of getting upset? Who implied anybody here was racist? I said if you can't see WHY it could be then it's probably because you've not dealt with much. That is it. You've been dismissive of this kind of thing before ("artistic castration", I believe is what you coined it) so I assumed wrongly. I am sorry.

Same here. I'll get one if they dont sell out and it can be had later on at a discount/clearance. Should we make a list for this? Or a poll?
Not me, I have no need for a 2nd PS4 unfortunately. I'm happy with my deal, especially since the only way to get the white one is with the Destiny $450 bundle. But I really like how the white console looks.

It's killing me that I am not getting a white one. I wanted a white PS3 for ages but could never justify it. One of my coworkers had a White PS3 Fat, that he picked up when he was in Japan and wanted to sell it to me, but I regretfully passed.
