Did 3 more chapters of Bloodrayne last night, they introduced a new large enemy hulker type but they skimped on the animation frames for him so his movements are kinda choppy and therefore hard to read compared to the smaller enemies. I find it's easier to just pogo stomp his head repeatedly if the ceiling isn't too low.

Did get a little frustrated in a platforming section which featured, basically Bullet Bills, periodically rising columns of acid, and very narrow platforms (wide enough to stand in place is all) which moved vertically. Then I realized you don't have to get the jump just right to land on top, you can aim for the wide vertical part of the platform wall kick up it and then land on top. Even if you overshoot it and skid off the top you can turn around and wall kick off the back to regain your footing. Difficult, but not "this is completely luck if I make it through" cheap.

So I'm either starting Outland or Guacamelee today. Leaning towards Outland right now.

Might go for the plat in Guacamelee. How unforgiving is hard mode? Can difficulty be changed mid-game? If not I'll just start on normal. I'd hate to hit a wall hours in and have to restart.

while I haven't been in years, it used to be that there were kegs strategically placed along the streets during the monthly art crawls so you could just grab a beer while you walked.

Difficulty can't be changed mid game. There was a glitch though where you could upload a normal save file to the cloud and then switch your file over to hard and then redownload to only have to do the final boss on hard to get the trophy for it, don't know if it still works though.

I played through about half of the game on hard mode though and it wasn't so bad after you got the mechanics down. I'm not too great at platformers though so I got annoyed with platforming related deaths and just did the cheat to get the last couple trophies to pop. Really fun game though-- I just got impatient with the second play through.

what do regular folks call that thing that cities do where people go out, drink and visit art galleries? I've only ever known it as first fridays, and monthly art crawl is admittedly an asinine phrase.

I'm sure mild pete only goes to art crawls for all the bra-less girls there.

HE WANTS TO SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS YOU SEE

Art is a tricky bitch. The thing is there are some things you look at and admire immediately and you can see the work that went into it, then there is stuff like giraffe spoons.
there's nothing tricky about determining the artistic value of a giraffe spoon. it is worth precisely four hundred dollars american in art value.

I loved Guacamelee but got a little bored in Outland (I'll go back to it eventually).

If you are going for the plat, (or even if you aren't) I would recommend doing 2 playthroughs. Normal is a good primer for learning the ins and outs of offense as it is much more forgiving on getting hit, then with that knowledge Hard will be about perfecting defense via avoidance, throws, and the dodge roll. I would recommend starting normal and doing all the side-quests and collectables in that playthrough. Once you beat the final boss you can restart the game just before the point you fight the boss so you can always clean-up the sidequests and collectables at the end of the game if you don't want to follow a guide the whole time.

If you are playing the PS3 version there is only one save slot, so what you will want to do is disable auto-upload to the cloud (if you have PS+) and then once you finish your normal playthrough upload it to the cloud. Then delete your normal playthrough and do your hard playthrough, all you will have to worry about in the hard playthrough is beating the game. Once that pops pull your normal save back down (which will delete your hard playthrough) and clean up any other trophies you missed.

The reason you want to save a normal 100%ed playthrough is if you decide to get the DLC, there are a couple of trophies which require beating the final boss with different characters which will be much easier if you do it on normal with full upgrades rather than on hard. If you are playing the PS4 version then it is moot as it has more than one save slot.

Gee, I wonder which section is giving you the most trouble?
dude, it's not even the 4 harpooners, it's even earlier when you are in the 2 story building waiting for joseph to open the doors.

Joseph goes from being super badass in easier difficulties, to what the fuck is wrong with this guy in akumu... ill go try again...

Only ever heard them called first fridays around here. Last one I went to had a bunch of awkwardly staged "photoshop my head/arm out of this creepy woods" photos.

Last Friday, First Thursday, Sunday Parkways, Art Walk Wednesdays. Pretty sure Portland has one of these for every day of the week.

Far Cry's list similar to FC 3 or no? Looks like a spoiler-y list, so I'm not reading it.
A bit worse IMO--there are a few co-op-only trophies that aren't just "complete ___" like FC3's co-op trophies plus something involving multiplayer (which I don't think we've seen yet?), but maybe it won't be as bad as it sounds.

...That's exactly the part I meant.

Does anyone else have a hard time using the Playstation app? It will work like one or two times then never work again even after I clear cache as it suggests to do. I love the app when it works but that's not very often.

Outland is great! Guacamelee is great too! I did the hard boss cheat for the PS3 plat but when I rent hte PS4 version from Stotch next week (I think) I'll probably play it on hard. I'm not sure if the PS4 version even allows the cheat.

I wonder if tyler is going to pop in here soon and say 'lol art'.
Art sucks, no doubt. But my brother is an artist so I get it the benefit of the doubt when I can. But yeah, art doesn't do anything for me unless it's sweet ass pixel art of video game characters.

I think they patched the hard boss cheat out in Guacamelee, not sure though. May just play Outland first and start Guacamelee when I feel I have more time to dedicate to it.

I've heard people complain but it always seems to work well for me. I have a Galaxy Note 3 not sure if device matters but the phone is a beast, don't have problems with much of anything.

I'm in for Costume Quest 2 at $14.99. Would be nice if there was a PSN $ card deal, but lack of that won't stop me.

It's NOT crossbuy, incidentally.

I really enjoyed Costume Quest but if it's more of the same (which isn't a bad thing) I might just wait until it's cheap rather than picking it up Day 1. Maybe next Halloween?

Can't blame you, but it was such a joy to play and it's been long enough that I'll happily take more of the same. Costume Quest 3 is going to suck, though.
