OMG guys, I'm totally getting a free $40 and any PSN game I want! I logged into my PS3 and had a friend request from a CurtisBret who says:

Not a bad deal at all. Times like these make me wish I didnt have responsibilities with a wife and kid. Without them I could buy anything I wanted at any time.

 
Weird, after sending that guy my email and password, I can't log back into my PSN account. Is there maintenance today or something? Maybe it's because they're busy giving me my free shit.

On another note, I have to call my credit card company because there are a bunch of random charges to my account. No idea what that's about.

Infamous was my very first plat so it holds a special place in my loins. But some of those stunts at the end. I think the throw a bunch of people off a building all at once was the one that fucked me the most. And I proudly used a guide to get all the remaining shards after getting all the other trophies.
 
I never had an issue with anything really in Infamous.  None of the stunts etc.  The shards were a pain like any collectable but that was about it.  Loved every minute of the game otherwise. 

If you guys havent played it, Infamous 2 made some nice changes to make the collectables attainable without a map/guide.  Still one of my favorite PS3 games of all time.  The graphics were also noticeably better.

I started it but got distracted by other shit so haven't played it in awhile. I think I'm halfway through maybe? Just got the

power. Was enjoying it. I should make like The Oceanic 6 and go back.
 
I took our boys and one nephew to see the new Transformers movie last week. It was pretty incredibly terrible, but they liked it and two of the tickets were free-ish, so it's alright. PG-13 F-bomb surprised me. Didn't know they could do that. I was envious of my wife hanging out at Starbucks while I watched this abomination (in 3D, no less), though I'm not actually qualified to declare it that because I didn't have any love for Transformers as a kid. I think that was probably equally terrible, though perhaps with fewer F-bombs.

I've been watching the Dell TV deals, they've been having different ones for a few months now with varying gift card offers. I've so far been able to convince myself to hold off for Black Friday, but they are really tempting.

@thermo, your quote was gone for some reason...but I never had the old model Vita to compare the two, but I have the slim Nyko. I definitely recommend it. There were some people *cough-Eld-cough* with complaints, but I haven't experienced any of their issues so far in about 2 months of use.

PG-13 movies can use a single F-bomb. 2 or more require an R rating.

 
I mentioned on Reddit that the 3DS has a terrible screen quality and gives me a headache. Somebody responded by saying that the top screen has a near-Vita resolution, blah blah blah. Here is my response, which you guys may appreciate:

I've tried to use the 3DS--it only takes a few minutes to give me a headache regardless of whether 3D is on or off.

As for the resolution...the top screen's display resolution is 400x240. The "800x240" is a common misconception--the way the 3D effect works is by taking a 400x240 image and displaying two copies on overlapping LCDs that are slightly offset from each other. The dual display takes advantage of the difference in perspective your vision offers from each eye you're looking at the screen with.

The Vita has a 960x544 native display resolution. Granted a number of games don't run at that resolution and use something a bit lower in order to achieve higher performance, but that's the same thing that is done on 360/PS3/XB1/PS4 games, so it's not unexpected. Offhand I'm not sure if any 3DS games use this same approach.

For games running at full resolution on either screen, this is how the pixel math works out:

3DS: 400x240 = 96,000

Vita: 960x544 = 522,240

The resolution on a Vita screen is over 5x that of the 3DS. From a technical standpoint the Vita has by far a superior screen. Whether that's important is a subjective call, however; to me the quality of the 3DS screen is simply too bad for me to play games on it. Which is a shame because the library has quite a few quality titles that I'd love to play if they were available on better hardware.

Edit: By the way, this may be of interest:

PSP: 480x272 = 130,560.

The PSP came out in 2004, a bit over 6 years before the 3DS, and still has 36% more pixels than the 3DS's top screen. I've never understood why Nintendo used such low-quality hardware in the 3DS.

That's what you think, but a Nigerian Prince emailed me this morning and said I'm the last descendant in his family tree and am now the beneficiary of a vast inheritance. They're wiring the money to my bank right now, and only needed my social security number to confirm it was me.

In Backlog's defense, that deal went live earlier in the day than Gamefly has done for past sales--12:30pm EST-ish vs. 3:00pm EST--so maybe he just didn't think to refresh his store tab.

Eh, as long as it's posted. I noticed that price yesterday but for some reason thought it was an old deal. Apparently it went live today. Could've sworn I saw it yesterday. $16.99 is a bit of an odd price for Gamefly. :whistle2:k

According to Game Informer's cover reveal, Battleborn is "a fusion of first-person shooting and loot-grabbing RPG elements in a living comic book art style." The Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC game also features creeps, quick leveling, and unique heroes comparable to MOBAs like Dota 2 and League of Legends, all wrapped around a "dramatic story" in its five-player cooperative campaign. Of course, it will also feature 5v5 competitive multiplayer.

I just have this aversion (kind of) to starting games in my backlog that I know will take many hours to complete. I'm also not much of a co-op player since I don't like literally talking to people online, my schedule is unpredictable to the point where I'm not sure when I'm available ahead of time, and I don't have a mic.

can you actually beat the bl2 by yourself /solo. i heard that bl2 is much harder to solo on your own, and you have to play online with people to beat the game,

BL2 will take you many hours..so now you have a reason. I couch co-oped BL2 with a friend but we hopped online a lot without mics, so it's doable. Some people will leave/boot you if you don't have a mic, but some dont care and are just looking for the help of another player.

Yeah, you can definitely solo the game if you're spec'd right. It's a royal pain in the ass on UVHM and OP levels, but those aren't a requirement if you dont want to play them. (but they are a lot of fun IMO)
