Does anyone here have any recommendations for what would be a good quality affordable laptop? Or could reccomend a brand/price range to look into. I dont need anything crazy, not going to be gaming on it. Just going to be a media center really for holding music and movies as well as reading twitch comments while streaming. I've been out of the computer market for years ever since I quit playing mmos so I'm not too familiar with anything anymore.

Maybe I'm just an old fart, but the old PSN format was way easier for me to find games and whatnot. This brand new format is even more of a disaster than the other new format.

Seriously. Alphabetized lists > whatever the hell this is

If it's just for basic use, you should be able to find a decent laptop for under $500. With it getting closer to back-to-school time, you should keep an eye out for some good package deals. When I was going back to grad school a couple years ago, I got a compaq laptop, printer and bag for right around $450, if memory serves me correctly. Nothing special about the laptop, but fit my needs for office, internet, etc.

I was all prepared to suggest a ChromeBook, but I am not sure that would work for you with the media stuff you mentioned. I would think it would work OK for music with an app for Chrome if you used the right Google music cloud service. Video would be the real question mark. Even if that worked, they tend to have smaller SSD hard drives in them.

Acer has a lot of models even cheaper, their chromebooks c720 aren't bad for what you pay (although lack storage). It depends what you want though too. Screen size 15.6, 13.3, 11.6? Do you need a DVD drive? Don't forget to weigh battery life and computer weight if it will be going with you a lot.

Wouldn't it be cool if Sony surprised us and gave us both versions of Dragons Crown? It would be like cross buy but not cross buy at the same time.

When does the store update?

A friend of a friend who's cousin heard some guy at a coffee shop telling some other guy he went to gamestop and overheard that Dragon's Crown PS3 would be cross-buy even though it's not cross-buy. Win for us! Am I right!? Now we just need the store to update. Can't believe it hasn't yet!

Also for computers,

I've yet to do this but a place like Ali Express (like ebay in China so check ratings) has some interesting knockoffs on the cheap. They have tablets as low as $65. They have some interesting laptops on the cheap:

I like the look of some of these because they are so simple.

I can't speak for the quality but if you do your research you might find something good. I might bite on a $65 or $50 tablet at some point, just to see. I'm guessing there are youtube reviews as well of some of these. I watched a few tablet reviews. Some of these options might be good if you know exactly what you are getting.

Are Chromebooks actually good?

I'm sure you mean well, but these look terrible.
It's really only if you wanted something uber cheap. My first recommendation is probably the better way to go. Like I said, I never ordered anything but they have some weird interesting options...even some android laptops.

I have a 32GB c720. For the cost yes. It still can't replace a macbook air...but if all you do is surf it's capable. They have SSD drives which really help boot up times (about 5-7 seconds). The benefit of chrome is you are really just running a browser OS based on linux. So it's super lightweight but you don't get the wealth of programs that you do elsewhere. The added bonus is you can use some software to get a full linux OS installed if you desire which gives you a full computer for about $199-$249. Again though 16GB or 32GB is the hard drive size. I know the c720 can be upgraded but not sure most would want to do that and would add cost to go to a 128GB drive still smaller than most laptop drives (but again with SSD you are gaining speed). Mine is kind of a toy to tinker with. I have linux on mine but I also have a macbook air.

For doing general web browsing and email, yeah, they work really well. I bought 2 for my kids so they would not argue over the computer and they have worked great. They are really quiet, do not put out a lot of heat, and have pretty good battery life. The only bad thing I would say about the ones we have is that they had a really shitty touch pad. A couple of cheap USB mice solved that problem though.

ETA: With all the google apps, you do not even really need things like MS Word, Excel, etc either. You'd be surprised how good they are for laptop replacement unless you have some very specific function SW you need for Windows.

We should have a poll for what kinda asses you guys like: flat ass pancake ass (most white girls), decent sized, grab it in your hand ass, glorious Nicki Minaj ass, or eat it with a spoon cottage cheese ass.

This is America, not China. We don't buy lame knockoff shit.

I'm not an idiot who locks their PS3 in a cabinet and leaves it on for six months and wonders why it overheats. I have it out in the open, properly ventilated and the AC keeping it a cool 67 in the room it's in. It's been on since Friday without stopping and it's not even blowing out warm air.
Totally worth the time, effort, and energy cost.

I'm hyped for Road Not Taken. I saw that Last of Us documentary, Grounded. It's great and u should all watch it, its in the bonuses section in the main menu and under cinematics. Also, an obscure beloved Marvel character is in the end credits of Guardians of the Galaxy. I won't say who it is, but he's in Lego Marvel

oh cool that narrows it down to every marvel character I've ever heard of

When I hear about slidecage and wrestling, I can't help but think of this scene from Gummo:

White trash meth heads and Beatlejuice. I love how he smashes the seat out and it hits the one chick in the face and she doesn't even care.

Lol, like I said I never bought any of this crap but stuff like this does look intriguing. Android laptop for $90?

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesale-10-inch-Dual-Core-Mini-Laptop-Android-4-2-VIA-8880-Cortex-A9-1-5GHZ/1516593359.html

I like to tinker though so that's probably part of it.

P.S. - Where do you think most of our computers come from? Including America based Apple?
I make my own god damned computers right here in the US-god damn-A. And if you don't like it, you can take your commie, Obama loving ass back to China where it belongs!

And something about welfare.

i have the C720 and for Youtube, web surfing and stuff it works fine. It has a SD slot on the side so you could add more storage to it but obvously that is still limited. Printing can be an issue if you don't have a Google Cloud print enabled printer.

Day 2 of Rogue Legacy: I got an Ultra Rare trophy already. Hopefully that will last for at least a week or two so I can revel in the glory. :D/

My god. LBP 2 has a shit ton of patches. I got a free rental from Redbox and they surprisingly had the Special Edition of the game still there so I picked it up. I could finally get those PS Move trophies out of the way. Shit sucks, though because I know I have vanilla LBP2 still installed and patched up, but I guess the SE gets its own set of patches and install data. What a waste of space.

Just finished God of War 2 and have to say so far it is my least favorite. I enjoyed 1, GoS, CoW, and Ascension, but GoW 2 didn't do it for me.
I'm really surprised you liked 1 more than 2. What did you like more about 1, other than your previous complaint about backtracking (which there really isn't that much of in 2.)

I buy one pair of shoes about every 18 months from a place called Shoe Carnival. I wear the same shoes every single day until my toes start coming out the front of them and I rarely spend more than $40-50.
I can't even remember the last time I shopped for shoes, that's how long I've had mine.

Does anyone here have any recommendations for what would be a good quality affordable laptop?

If you played 2 right after playing all of those, I could understand. Series fatigue probably set in. But I played 2 for the first time immediately after replaying 1 in the HD collection, and 2 smashed it to pieces.

I thought God of War 2 was crazy epic. I was probly hopped up on goofballs but every moment seemed awesome.

So many other games tried to capture the intro scene Kratos vs Colossus of Rhodes.

2>1

and so many great bosses compared to 1. It was almost on par with DMC3 at the time. instead of just QTE's.

It's hard to imagine so many great games like RE4 and GoW had so many QTE's when you replay them.

That whole Krauser fight mostly comes to mind.

I hated those shadow demons that would go underground and still hit you in God of War 2.
