Did you see the Target/BBY flip deal that guy was talking about in the GS thread? Claims he only spent ~$180 on the PS4 Destiny bundle. Could be an option.
It's a good thing I already decided to wait to clear my PS3 backlog. I only want the base PS4 so could have gotten that for $150->$400.

Hmmm...that's interesting. There was a concern that the dialog and stuff would be too small for the Vita. Oh well, as long as we're getting it on at least one console that's fine with me.

I don't shop at Target. We've had a boycott on them since 2009. Plus flipping is just way too much work. And I have the appropriate funds available, but it's all Amazon credit. I'm going to chat with them this weekend to see if they would do a tax free situation. I doubt it, but worth a shot.

Which thread exactly?
Go to target, price match madden 25 for ps4/xbone to amazon for $22.95 and buy the preorder card that takes $15 off any game that is $39.99 or more (Madden 25 meets that criteria) bringing the price down to roughly $9.50 after tax. Bestbuy is offering $25 for madden 25 TIV through this weekend. They guy bought 19 copies of Madden for roughly $173 (from 4 different Targets) and now has $475 in credit. The pricematch and promo together are YMMV, but I had success doing it the last time they had the same promo.

Ah, probably wouldn't work for me. Only one Target close enough to me. Thanks though.

Highly YMMV since you would need a clueless/ignorant Target employee to ignore the fact that the $22.95/$22.99 listings aren't the Amazon-sold ones.

I was satisfied just getting a PS4 copy for $16 (after preorder card) and trading that in to Best Buy with two other copies I got from Gamestop (~$12 each after coupons/discounts) for $82.50 total.

lol dude needs to get a job.

I have Papers, Please! from a Steam sale. It's pretty cool (and depressing!), but I'm skeptical about how well it will play on Vita. Would like to be happily surprised because I just don't play games on my computer much, so it has languished. If it plays well on Vita I could see buying it again.

I feel like I'm in a gaming rut right now. I got the games on my sig, but apart from Origins, don't seem to find it in me to start them.

More incentive to pass Cleaner on the leaderboard!

Also, I thought you'd all like this review of The Big Lebowski on amazon (care of Amazon Movie Reviews (@AmznMovieRevws) twitter account):

I feel you. I stopped flipping after I bought 3 Wii Us at launch to sell but had to return them. That was it for me. Sometimes you gotta take the L if the deal is good enough, though.

Who boycotts Target though lol? Hahaha. Target? Way less evil than Wal-Mart. And you don't run the risk of getting mugged like at K-Mart.

AMZ just started collecting tax here, too. If you get a cool agent (aka someone in Pakistan) they might honor it.

Far Cry 3:

A heads up for anyone that is playing/will be playing it: There appears to be a problem where the game gets stuck in an auto-save loop. From what I read, it could corrupt your save if you quit while this problem is happening, and of course it won't let you manually save, which is how you'll know it's happening. Happened to me last night; I just killed myself, and upon restarting it allowed me to save.

Also, for the free fall trophy. Not that it's hard, but just happened upon a quicker way than looking for the particular spot the guide shows. You'll come to a main mission where you're required to jump out of a plane. When this happens, don't do anything, just fall. The trophy should pop and you'll restart right at the point where you had to jump out.
When I was about 80% through the game I had the issue where it would sit at the initial load screen forever, and almost shit a brick. Didn't work after removing the data and all. But luckily found out, it's an issue with UPlay and logging out of PSN when it's starting up fixes it.

I commend people that can flip and make such a huge profit, but the time and effort it takes, is just beyond me. Plus I just know I'm going to get rejected at some stage of the game and be stuck with 10 copies of Putty Squad.

The time flipping is a major factor for me not doing it much but I also refuse to try and get a clueless employee fired by trying to game them. You know these flippers that take advantage are the first to complain when an employee knows the rules and won't let them double dip or scam them.

It's a long story that's even less exciting than a certain fridge incident, so I won't bore everyone with it. Basically they screwed my wife over big time and we haven't gone back in almost 5 years.

And there are sites like the Boston globe reporting that Amazon will be included in the tax free weekend. I chatted with a rep and she told me that she would send my question to the tax exemption department and they're going to respond in 2 business days. So basically, just try to order something and see if it comes up as tax free or not.

I really wish that Destiny LE would go in stock this weekend so I could try it.

The only flipping I really do is on the rare occasion that I find a game that trades in at Amazon for a good amount more than I can buy it online for. Lock it in at Amazon, buy a couple copies. That's about as much effort as I feel like putting in.

I will only flip if I can get the cheap games from stores near me. I have 3 targets and 3-4 gamestops within 10 minutes of my house, some are within 5 minutes. There is also a bestbuy about 5 minutes away.

yeah, I think I'm retired from flipping too unless I'm spoonfed. it was a good long run and a fun way to spend lunch breaks.

also, flipping 19 copies of something after doing that ridiculous price match mambo at different stores is definitely lameass territory. go to 7 different bestbuys, use three different ids, whatever you're doing to avoid the banhammer (or not) - you're still lame as fuck. enjoy the $250 you saved though.

Flipping is pretty tedious. Last time I did it was back in college when Hastings would have "trade in 3 eligible games and get a new game of same platform for free" and they would take almost any PS2 game. I find by the time I actually got around to playing the game I traded for, I could have bought the game at the price drop price for what I paid for the cheap 3 games I flipped.

Isn't Just Cause 2 the game where you can find
the hatch from Lost hidden in the jungle on one of the islands?
Much more than that, there is an entire mission parodying [customspoiler="Mission Spoiler]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw-ye9zsan4[/customspoiler]

Boy, I feel like the youngest guy in the thread since I still flip and the rest of you are retired or uninterested.
you know what turned me? when I realized I could play games for 6 - 8 hours a day for a year and not clear out my backlog. couldn't make sense of it after that since I only did it to fund my gaming habit (and christmas shopping).

so now instead of crawling every thread for a deal, checking tivtrackr, hopping from gs to bby to the post office over lunch and other shit, I just play games when I have time and it's a lot more fun. I played injustice on lunch yesterday. good stuff.

Fair enough--it's not for everyone. I take solace in the fact that I paid for every movie I saw with my family this year with Target credit I gained (Fandango GCs), plus I buy the occasional item off of Amazon for my parents using my Amazon credit. I don't go flip-crazy, but I also see the value in it.

If you have the time I say go for it, absolutely. The only place I say draw the line is like Pharm said, when you're trying to scam/get the employee to override store policy or something. If it can get the person fired, I don't feel comfortable trying to persuade them to do it.

I'm agreeing with Pharm entirely too much today.

I was never a big flipper.  I have done it a few times over the last year but only when almost spoon fed to me and involving stores in the same mall / parking lot.  I have Game Stop, Target and Best Buy in the same mall.  In another building in the same parking lot another Game Stop and a yet another building in the same lot a Kmart.

I draw the same line. :grouphug:

I'm actually hoping that by the time I pick up a PS4 they'll have fixed the sad lack of an AC wireless card with a hardware revision. That's just annoying.

I am a very agreeable fellow. Unlike that therm guy. He isn't a fan of anything other than building PCs.

for some reason I have zero problem taking advantage of glitches though - like the bajillion bestbuy glitches (e.g. free gta5) or all the weird target b2g1 screw ups. I'll never fight a junior detective who won't allow it even if the register will though.

ironically I've historically only used those glitches for flip fodder, so I wonder what I'll do when the next one comes up.

unrelated note: anyone want an itunes $50 card? pm your best offer. don't send dumbass offers or you're a dumbass.

I've been playing tlou mp on ps4 over remote play exclusively with no hiccups in sight on the networking end. doesn't seem to need anything more than what it has, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

(edit - no hardwire, all wireless, one floor above the router and about 100 feet away if anyone cares)

also, shareplay sessions limited to 60 minutes? anyone see that today? can't find where I read it now.

I read it on reddit. Supposedly you can restart another play session right away, but it times out every 60 mins. Probably to prevent people from unlimitedly sharing games. The owner of the game will have to be there so they can "refresh" the share every hour.

That's what I read, anyway. I'm interested to see how all this shakes out. I'm assuming the sharing player can't earn trophies on their account, so I probably wouldn't use it all that much anyway except to play games like Towerfall or something with friends.
