Ok for those of you that were on pins and needles wondering what happened in TLoU:

I replayed that chapter completely and got nothing. When I went back to the main menu, it said I now had 0/12 collectibles, so that was fucking awesome. I loaded it up again, opened my pack, and it popped right away without looking at anything. Stupid fucking trophy.

I LOVE PICTURES WITH CIRCLES!

Eat it up, Farmquest.

I thought the actual level was easier than 50 in Ultra. Just finishing it regular like, no perfect.

Perfect ranking will of course be bitchtastic.
Yeah, I remember in VU, especially on level 50, there were times when I'd time out before getting to the end. V2X basically doesn't do that (you can take up to 20 minutes even if the perfect time is 1 minute), so beating all the levels is easier.

I still don't understand you people who refuse to move on until you perfect a level. Just get to the end so your ship is totally upgraded, then go back!

I didn't even know you get ship upgrades.

Don't be too hard on Naughty Dog.

The fact that I and ctrlc/CAGChamp have perfected 29+ levels before beating the game proves that those upgrades aren't crucial. :nottalking:

I do like the idea of the stance system, but in practice it didn't work quite right. You can't switch stances immediately, often I would let go of the button to switch stances and then press the attack button, but the next attack which happens is still the previous stance. With how twitch based the sword play is at times that isn't ideal (compared to DMC where you can switch between weapons seamlessly).

Since blocking is done automatically when you are in the correct stance and there is very little wind-up in the enemy attacks, if you are in mid-attack when an enemy attack starts there is not much you can do to respond to it, other than try to evade quickly.

Which is another sticking point, the evade distance is pretty short. On one of the bulkier bosses he can do a string of several damaging attacks and the roll distance is short enough that you can't always get away from the latter attacks in the string. That seemed like a missed opportunity to incorporate the stances in another meaningful way, varying the length of your evasion roll depending on your current stance.

Maybe they'll get it right in their "totally not a sequel to Heavenly Sword so we don't get sued" Hellblade. I mean, who do they think they are fooling? The background in the trailer is pretty much the same layout as the "talk to the sword" sequences / chapter select and the main character looks like Nariko but with Kai's make-up job.
Yeah I think they learned from their mistakes with stance system and everything you said pretty much sums up how I felt about it. The game didn't allow for the quick switching that was intended to be used in those different situations because it wasn't instant. In some ways I'm not 100% crazy about different stances or styles in these games because it becomes a lot more to remember or manage. I only played the demo for DMC but it did seem to handle it a lot better though.

I agree with that evade and roll as well, it wasn't as effective as it was in something like Ninja Gaiden because of the distance. I hate having to evade twice just to get that distance back. It's annoying more than anything and makes each encounter longer than it needs to be.

Hopefully they get it right with HellBlade (Heavenly Sword 2).

Didn't Velo say he had already finished all the levels this morning? I guess we will see now how useful the upgrades might be if he suddenly runs through the levels to get perfects with ease.

Okay, I figured out the problem. It's the damn dual controls that were messing me up. I'd figured out earlier that you could shoot bombs with circle and didn't pay as much attention as I should to when bombs are finally explained in the game. I didn't realize you could direct them with the right analog, so I was hitting circle+movement direction to aim them, which was just cumbersome and unpleasant as fuck . It feels a lot better now that I'm using the right analog instead. :wall:
Had no idea you could right stick the bombs. Maybe now I'll suck less at this game (no I won't).

Yes, for some reason they didn't want to spend money to make a trophy patch or put the game on PSN, but they thought there was a market for a non-theatrical, animated movie adaptation of that same game.

I really don't get the inclusion of a
brother
in the trailer as the lack of one was pretty much the entire backbone of Heavenly Sword's story.

And the upgrades won't help terribly much with getting perfects. Maybe you can blast through some glass or crystals a smidge faster, but that's about it.

I find the load times much worse than the first. Its so noticible cuz I just recently finish Ultra.
I was thinking they were longer as I didnt remember seeing an actual loading screen in the first. Thankfully they are still plenty quick enough. I am very adverse to load times so if it were a problem I would be complaining about it heavily.

So I guess everybody didn't know the restart trick already. I wouldn't have as many perfects without it.

May try for the Ultra plat again now that I've gotten better via 2X.
I'm just going to go ahead and say that this does not work in the first game. I have to believe that for my own sanity. To have to come to grips with the knowledge that I could have done that instead of hitting start and restart with that stupid Vita 1000 oval small practically resessed button over and over and over on level 50? Motherfucker.

It doesnt matter how many trophies someone has if they dont have the trophy for 50 perfects they are far from done.  I am pretty sure I will have most of the trophies within a few days but I will never have the plat because of that one trophy.

Exactly. Doesn't even have the perfect 25 levels trophy, so y'all are good for awhile.

It doesn't. I tried.

I meant to ask, genuinely curious: do you know enough Japanese to play these games, or is there some sort of guide you follow?
There is a website that focuses on import games that has guides for all of the ones that I have played so far. I do wish I knew Japanese. However, while I am playing these, I am glad that I do not. I think I am better off not knowing what is being said based on the visuals in some of this stuff.

Why do you play them?

Why do you play them?
I am trying to push into the top 50 on the US leader board on PSNProfiles. They are just about the only way I can get there at this point without changing how I play to just getting the easy trophies from games and moving on to the next.

I never really started out playing to move up the leader boards, it just happened as a side effect of all the contests. Since I had a a lot of stuff saved up for the next contest which I decided not to do, I am now using those games to see if I can get to the top 50. Probably a stupid goal, but it is something I want to do.

This way I can keep my completion percentage higher and still make a run at it.

Well I guess its good to have a goal.
