N00b TT question alert:

When I hit "Request Update", I'm told that there are 4 gamers in front of me in the queue. I wait 10+ minutes, refresh my page, and when I don't see any change, I hit "Request Update" again and am told a second time that there are 4 gamers in front of me in the queue. Should I just leave it alone? It seems weird that it would take that long just to update a page. :???:
Their scanner must be busted or having issues with PSN one. It usually takes seconds after you request update, and I have never once had anyone in the queue ahead of me when I tried. I'd hold off.

How pissed would you be if you knew that you weren't even his horse?
I forgot Stotch is dumb. Let me give him the over-explained jokes for dummies version:

I'm either pissed that:
Option A) I am not your horse and you didn't bet on me and therefore do not believe in my abilities; OR

Option B) I am your horse and you did bet on me but that means you're calling me a horse. And I am not a horse. I am a person.

In Heavenly Sword I finally figured why I was having so much trouble deflecting the fireball attacks of the final boss, most of what is written on the internet about how to deflect them when you search via google is described wrong. They say, "wait until just before the fireball hits you" (a reasonable person would assume that means when it is right in front of the player IE "just before") and then press the counter button, this is incorrect. You have to wait until the fireball DOES hit you, THEN press the counter button. It's like a power bunt instead of a home run swing. Once I figured that out it was pretty easy to deflect 95% of the time. But as a final passing fuck you, the 3rd and final form of the boss had 3 QTE sequences during the course of the fight and if you failed one sequence he got 25% of his HP back. Another game down.

Pick the number 1 or 2, then a letter of A to M, then a number 1-4.

I have an actual video game deal question (gasp)

Has anyone gotten best buy to do a price match at time of purchase AND get the GCU 20% off of the matched price?  I know the official rules are supposed to be you get one or the other, but I'm curious if I can get Madden 15 for $40 next week (match target's sale for $50, then the GCU bonus).  All this football talk and the fact that it's actually different enough from last year's is making me want it.

Please make a thread on the main page to ask this.

You would need a manager override for that to happen, meaning you'd need a manager to play ball. Highly unlikely.

Methodology this time, the letter denotes the starting letter of the game. This is modded by the first number in the sequence, if the number 1 is selected A-M = A-M, if the number 2 is selected, A-M = N-Z.

A b c d e f g h i j k l m

n o p q r s t u v w x y z

Then the second number in the sequence is the number of times I count, starting in reverse alphabetical order from right to left. If the number of games with that starting letter is less than the second number, then I start over at the beginning and continue counting right to left.

This translates to games which start with O, and counting 4 times from right to left. I have no physical games which start with the letter O.

This translates to games which start with L and counting 3 times from right to left. This results in a game with TROPHIES

About 13.5 hours before I started up the DLC.

BTW, I'm halfway done Perfect-ing the DLC stages.
that's pretty good. I'm at 4.5 hours and still have 40 perfects and 5 bonus levels to clean up. I'm surrendering after the bonus levels, but it would definitely take me 10+ hours to finish it up.

Definitely think we should wait for October PS+ to see what we get.

If there's nothing that works there, then the 10 guys who formally entered this tournament can chat about what we play next, try to figure out if there's a game in most of our backlogs that most of us haven't played and will also be challenging but do-able.

You're best bet to stay eligible for the next contest is to probably not play any challenging but do-able PS+ games we've gotten in the last few months, since those should be in most people's backlog.

If others have ideas feel free to post.

And I think it would be cool to keep the tourney's open until the Top 5 spots are filled.  So say we don't get a 5th V2X platter til December, they would still get a point and fill out the top 5.

fuck, now I'm thinking about trading towards a Destiny bundle at BB.  $110 (initial $150 upgrade-$40 trade value for Destiny, since I already have the LE coming) to get a white PS4 and controller and 2 free years of GCU....damn that's enticing

Like Tyler said, you'd need a manager override, but you aren't supposed to get both. One of the questions in the GCU FAQ even specifically mentions that you can't get the 20% discount combined with a price-match.

King Vig, I got 42 out of 43 data packs. Any possible way to figure out where that 43rd one is? The PST guide is useless.
Same here and I don't want to play the levels over again to find it.
I recall one or two data packs being where I expected a bonus level unlock to be, so look for alcoves on the maps, mainly during ship sections. Otherwise I can't really help, as I got all 43 without really trying.

I didn't have that trophy by the time I got through all the levels too. Then I went back to perfect some level and found the last one and the trophy popped. That's what you need to do.

I should probably write trophy guides with this wisdom.

Well that was disappointing.

Oh well. 15-1 is still a pretty good record.
McCarthy always says "we'll get that fixed". Well, he didn't get a damn thing fixed, its the same shitty defense with missed tackles and bad penalties at the worst time. Seattle did look awfully good though.

Tyler or Stotch or someone should make a list of difficult but doable games we got from ps+ last few months that might be eligible in the tournament contest.

n yeah I said that great tip too, just redo all the levels. I remember one of the data packs on maybe the last 5 levels during a quick ship part (that describes most of the game) and I thought oh that was close I totally almost missed that, and then I got the trophy. so prob like level 46 or something and I think it was during some fast teleporting.

They need to fix their trainers and stay ducking healthy for once. But yeah that pass defense is goddamn scary.

Does the guide say something like "Find all data packs and you'll get this trophy. They should be easy to find, just look for data packs."
Almost word for word.

There are 43 data packs in the game. They are all very easy to find, and you'll see them all as you go through the levels. The trophy unlocked for me when I collected 41 of them, so it may be glitched in a good way. Here is what they look like:
Wish it would have glitched for me.
