Has anyone here played the Metal Gear Rising DLC levels? I'm digging the main game, are they worth playing? I don't normally bother but I know the main is pretty short. I'm already on the 5th out of 8 levels.
I heard the DLC was garbage and not worth the money. A lot of gamers were pretty upset.

And isn't a lot of the DLC free now?

edit: Found this on GI....

Metal Gear Rising's Jetstream DLC Is Completely Terrible

so we have enough time to save money for both. which i'm probably gonna do, cause batman and i'm stupid. wish they had an edition with both the batmobile and the statue. kinda sucks they're separate.
Screw that, I'll probably just get the Limited Edition from Best Buy for $80+tax after GCU. The transformable Batmobile looks cool, but not I'd-pay-an-extra-$80-for-it cool.

The DLC is free, just wondering if it's worth my time or not. So right now 1 for the Sam DLC one aganist it. It sounds like the major grip is that it's more of the same locations and characters of the game but also that he paid for it not that it's actually bad.

Do you really think Tyler could afford to go brand-name?

Is Destiny that big of a deal? I know people are excited for it, but is it really midnight release big? Are people really going nuts for it? I feel like the hype around Titanfall was way bigger than it is for Destiny. I usually have a pretty good grasp on these things...

Destiny is set to be basically the biggest thing of the next few years.

Titanfall's was probably more noticeable because it was fueled by the console-war fanboy chatter since it was exclusive.

Destiny will sell 5x to 10x better than Titanfall. Destiny is pretty huge.

I don't get Batman.  They annouced it for October 2013 then almost right away delay it, now it's coming out June 2014.  How could they be so far off with their original release date?

It isn't a midnight release. Well, it is if you are on the West coast US, but everywhere it matters the servers will go live at 3 AM. I'm anxious to hear all the complaints from the midnight-release at Gamestop people buying on the East coast.

Is the mortgage low on that rock?

Making good progress on my replay of Velocity Ultra. For those of you who weren't in the stream last night, my plan is to get to 50, see if I can get the perfect on PS3, and if I do it then I'll restart my quest for the plat. Tyler said if I'm playing on PS3, I'll get better with the box teleport and I won't have such a hard time. We'll see, Tyler.

"Controllers" as in more than one? I thought Amazon only allowed one for everyone who got in on the $9.99 price, canceling the additional orders.
Yessir, but I placed a separate order on my girlfriend's account. Please don't think less of me (if that's possible). No intention of flipping the extra... that is, unless you have another one of your mad scientist flips you think is worth the effort.

Wow, that's really strange. Wonder why they don't just flip them before the East coast release. I'm not picking mine up until Tuesday lunch time, so it doesn't really effect me, but still sucks.

I've been playing it after the hype in this thread and on streams. At level 36 with perfects on everything. Haven't got a trophy in forever. Also, I think the Destiny servers went online at midnight last night.

I honestly can not tell if eldergamer is joking or not.
He's actually right to point it out, lol. The game started out as an "origins" tale for Rayman. Hence ...the name. They scrapped the plot during development and replaced it with a bunch of incoherent nonsense. Still love that game, though.

I don't see how playing on PS3 will make box teleport any easier to get used to. It should be easier to rapidly throw bombs to different sides though.

Level 50 is a bit hard in VU. Gotten really close a few times, though.

Again, just going for completion, not for plats. Makes the game legitimately enjoyable for the most part. Not a huge fan of the rushed episodes (like 50) but I do like the ones where you run around unlocking everything in sequence and teleporting around for it. I know a number of you guys dislike the platforming elements in V2X, I'm wondering now if I'll prefer it since I'm not going for perfects anyway.

Really nice that I can push pause on a game on my Vita, put it in standby and then come back 12 hours later and the game's right where I left off w/o any noticeable battery drain.

WTF is w/ Rayman Origins. There's no Origin story here. Unlocking new characters serves no purpose. They all have the same ability and are just palette swaps of each other. At least the levels are bright and colorful.
I was confused when I first played it. I'd never played a Rayman game before and there were all these characters that were completely unexplained. :shame:

That's really what I'm hoping for. I had such a hard time with the fast tossing in level 50 with the Vita nub. And I don't know about the box, that's just what Tyler said.

Yep, I made a thread about how weird it was on another forum when it first came out. Apparently things got left in from the original story (like the "true" ending). It still works if you don't think too much about it, lol.

I'm rootin for ya. That level is hard as balls. Level 40 on v2x feels very much the same with less restrictive timing. I spent an hour getting that one right last night and thought I'd be stuck in a permanent crab pose today.

In strictly not-going-for-perfects play, I enjoyed 2X much more than Ultra because of the platforming. It was fun blasting through those areas when you're not worried about time constraints and making every single move be a precise move. I can totally see how they would frustrate those going for perfects everywhere. But in my initial playthrough to just get all 50 levels completed, the platforming parts were some of my favorite.

I hope destiny does well and is well supported. having a successful multiplatform competitive/cooperative fps game can only be a good thing and will hopefully encourage the aaa studios to stay on a bit longer and try new things before converting completely to iphone f2p games.

Regarding the  Walking Dead Season 2 talk, here's a great article I read on Grantland that talks about the choices not meaning as much in Season 2.  A lot of the other critiques of the season echoed my own thoughts, which are in my full season review in the 2nd link.  Mine isn't terribly in depth, but it's got some thoughts if you care to read them.

I don't think anybody said they didn't mean as much in S2, though...just that they're meaningless in general or they didn't like S2 as much.

the only thing that sucks about the platforming is the multitude of ways for instadeath. there's pretty much just two ways in the ship - run into a cannon, get squished at the bottom of the screen (and force field run ins, but you've probably already fucked up if you do that).

with the platforming, they've got you teleporting through death walls in every direction, jumping over death pits/hills (some which require a jump + teleport), mines, charging vokhs, sliding in to death walls if you don't tp fast enough, gigantic bullet barrages, getting stuck in doors because of switch timers, and sometimes throwing the tp ball and tping too soon gets you stuck in a wall/ceiling.

I've gotten more used to it, but it's (imo) way more demanding than the ship segments in terms of being on point.

Heh, TP ball...

I never understood the death at the bottom of the screen thing. I mean, sure, as a game mechanic...but otherwise what the hell? What's the explanation for that supposed to be? "The invisible guy that's watching us got too far ahead, so rather than slowing down to avoid hitting the wall, let's ram that sucker!"  :shame:
