This is why you don't put your game out on a Nintendo platform. Ubisoft is finally getting smart with that. I really hope almost all 3rd party developers start to see the light so Nintendo is forced to make a console and handheld worth a damn. software for PS consoles.

It wouldn't have happened if Nintendo hadn't paid for it. You really don't have a valid point here IMO.

I cannot wait to get Puppeteer over with so I can move on to the pure platforming bliss of Rayman Origins. Despite skipping the annoying cutscenes, the narration and other voices during gameplay get on my nerves. :headache:

I think most people would have paid a kickstarter for it to come to the PS4 or XBONE over the Wii U. Putting a game out on Wii U exclusively is like asking for it to sell like shit. Destroys the brand of "Bayonetta" (if there was one) and pushes it into obscurity.

This is just sour grapes, dude. Nintendo put up the money to get the title made. Sorry that the idea is so offensive to you. I've never heard of a Kickstarter for a game as expensive as Bayonetta 2 (assuming this cost several million to make like most games that get a physical release). I really don't think that would have been a viable option.

There's no telling if Bayonetta 2 would have sold great on other platforms either. The first wasn't exactly a monster hit was it?
No it didn't sell well enough for Sega to want to publish a sequel. It didn't do awful but it didn't live up to Sega's expectations either, apparently.

Futuridium EP coming to PS4 & Vita Sept 30, $12.49/$9.99 with Plus, Cross-buy.

Couple dudes on r/Playstationplus had made a pretty good case that this would be a free October game since the dev has said it's been done for a while.  Guess that's not happening either.  I have no idea what we're getting for PS4 for October.  Probably Steamworld Dig and OlliOlli since I already own them both.  Seems like it will definitely be back catalog games, unless it's Pix the Cat which seems kind of unlikely to me.

Mighty No. 9 got close to 4 million and the Double Fine Adventure game got about 3.3. If you took a quarter of the Bayonetta 1 sales [about 300,00) (1.35million) and let's say you got them to pledge $60 that would be 18 million. Unless I'm severly underestimating how much a game like that costs to make? 50-100 million? That's without any other backing too though.

That game looks like fun, would have been a nice freebie. I'm glad it's $10 for Plus members. I might have to bite if the reviews are decent. I'm a sucker for Starfox-ish games. Will probably all come down to if the controls are any good or not. It's weird though this and Race The Sun look very similar in premise.

I don't really know anything about the cost to develop games, but I suspect 18 million is kind of low for something like Bayonetta. Regardless, thinking that a quarter of the people who bought the first one would be willing to put $60 into kickstarter to fund the second one is crazy talk.

Nah, no way Bayonetta 2 costs $50 million. It needs to cost $15-$30 million to have any sort of chance of making money in the long run, honestly I'd say $15-$20 max. I just recently read an article where Nordic Games announced that Darksiders 2 cost $50 to make and that was "a ridiculous" amount of money to spend on the game. It's probably why THQ folded if they were having budgets that big for mid-tier games. Destiny and Call of Duty can cost $50 million+ to develop. Bayonetta and Darksiders can't.

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/darksiders_2/news/darksiders_2_cost_thq_50m_to_develop_says_nordic_games_boss.html

As for Bayonetta 2 being an exclusive, I don't blame Nintendo much at all. I blame Platinum partially for choosing to partner with Nintendo (I just can't imagine that there were NO other offers to publish the game) and I blame Sega for giving up on the franchise.

But honestly, Platinum needs to figure out how to self-publish. I can't figure out how they have the capacity to make 4 games in two years (Metal Gear Rising, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Legend of Korra) but don't have the capacity to self-publish. We're going to be having this same conversation in a year or two if Scalebound turns out to be good.

But really I don't blame anyone because it's just a game and a business decision. It just sucks that I can't play Bayonetta 2 without buying a WiiU, a console that I don't really want because I feel like it would be a dust collector after a couple months of catching up on the handful of good games on the system.

I don't think a quarter is crazy talk especially if it was on both the PS4, and XBONE at this point in time when people are looking for stuff to play on their new systems. The first did 1.35 million and some people probably missed out on the first but it got good critical praise. I'm not saying every game, but some sequels do better not worse than the 1st game of the series. Timing does play a pretty big role in sales too.

I doubt Bayonetta could have raised more than $5 mil on Kickstarter, but I also doubt that they would have needed to raise a whole lot more than that to subsidize development costs.

Is anyone kinda excited for Shadow of Mordor? Who all is getting it? The plat seems very obtainable, no online at all...
I'm excited to see what reviews look like tomorrow. I haven't looked at the trophy list, always spoils things for me. If I buy the game I'll glance over it a bit, but I don't like to go through trophy lists until I've played a decent amount of the game.

I'm pretty interested, but don't have a PS4. I've considered picking it up for PC. I could have gotten the premium version for $32 over the weekend, but the thing about the season pass stuff is that I never go back and replay games, so it'd only be useful if I waited for that stuff to get released. WIth that in mind buying it this early is pointless.

Looks cool. This part sounds different and interesting, assuming replaying the game gives you enough variety to enjoy it again.

It’s a relatively short game for just one play-through, just one to three hours, but the world is randomly generated and you’ll need to try it a few times in a few different ways to unlock all of the character classes, tribes, and biomes.

DriveClub. And yes, we're getting two additional games.

Games with Gold sucks again for 360 (already have Darksiders II on PS3). Not sure why I'd expect anything more or even care at this point but meh. Overall PS Plus is far and away the better service. Not that any of you didn't already know that :D

Hey Tyler, I just did the weekly heroic and nightfall strikes at level 28. And I got a sweet legendary auto rifle. I figured since you like to chat about Destiny, you would be excited to know this.

Pretty much. I haven't played Darksiders 2, but am not particularly interested after beating the first one (a bit too bland for me). The Xbone game for the month looks like it could be cool:

Looks like it is also coming out on PS4, though I'm not sure when. Would be funny if this was also a PS + title.

Comes out this Tuesday on PSN too, and it won't be a PS+ game, which I was quite relieved about when they announced the release date. Only has local coop (only god knows why) and is "physics based" which is almost always frustrating to me.

Thanks for taking that bullet, Xbone!

It's funny, I thought I was going to LOVE Darksiders but played some of the first on 360 a long time ago and it didn't really grab me either. I don't have an XBONE (or want one) but Chariot looks better in video form than the static images.

Will it have a plat? :bouncy: I'm interested either way, but I also won't get it at launch.

Like Tyler, I'm waiting for tomorrow's reviews before deciding. I'm edging towards getting it if only to support the developer for making a single-player-only game and because I love Tolkien's universe.

Wait isn't this supposed to be the 2-game month for Xbone? Ouch.

Yeah they are only getting 1 game. Not that I need backup in a PSN thread but I can't see why anyone would want an XBONE (except for exclusives) over a PS4 this gen. Getting only 1 console this gen Microsoft continues to let me know I made the smart choice.

Shadow of Mordor has been totally off of my radar, but I just checked out some gameplay and it looks pretty cool.Looks like Arkham-esque combat and Assassin's Creed navigation in a LOTR world. Unfortunately I have zero interest in the source material (I've tried, people.. watched all of the movies once or twice.. it is way boring) so I won't pick up at release.

Yeah that's pretty much how I feel as well. I can wait for a cheap price even though it looks like fun.

I cry a bit on the inside whenever I see the praise that Swery65's (Deadly Premonition) Xbone-exclusive Dark Dreams Don't Die is getting and question why it isn't on PS4, but I get over it.

...Most of the time.

Also, Tyler can fuck himself.

Movies don't convey the world as richly as the books, as cliché as it sounds. If you like reading, try giving The Children of Hurin a read. One of Tolkien's finest works and of palatable length.

It's pretty sweet. The more passive gameplay is well suited to Swery as we're just there for the weirdness, not tight shooting or driving. Those Kinect controls can go fuck themselves though. So can Tyler (late to the party as always).
