Several basic Spelunky things you should know:

Press and hold up or down to look up or down. Looking down especially important! Look before leaping.

You can drop rope down: stand at an edge and hold down while you throw the rope.

You can set a bomb down instead of throwing it. Press and hold down while hitting the bomb button and you'll set it down. I'd suggest moving away from it. ;)

The score is how much money you have when you either die or finish the game. If you spend it all you aren't going to have a high score. As a newb, I wouldn't recommend killing the shopkeepers. You should buy bombs and rope at least.

Not too bad. I was expecting more Ikari Warriors/Smash TV like constant action, but it's more drawn out and slow. The zombie boards are fun. Not terribly far in yet.

Don't Die Mr Robot is pretty fun. Very basic. Took me awhile to warm up to it, but Im liking it more now. Looks like a PSP or old phone game, but gameplay is fun and frantic. Remix boards offer lots of different goals for a nice variety.

And yeah I got both of those free from the pubs/devs to review. I'm the only one on the GameGravy staff with a Vita, so I get all those games. They want me to review Hunrgry Hoarde & Isaac too, so my hands are full right now.
 
So going for $500K in Spelunky.  Probably need to get to the City of Gold, right?

I had a good run with a shotgun but died and had to be resurrected with the Ankh before the right spot, so I was left out of the City of Gold.  That makes it WAY harder I'm assuming?

I'm wanting to try and do it without having to beat the final boss, but we'll see...

Ghosting the Ice level is super easy and helps. I'm getting a little better at ghosting in general, with a jetpack of course. That jetpack is a MUST!

Same here but that post round 10 riot mode was actually pretty crazy. We were all pissed we lost our stuff, but glad to be done with it.

Now to the campaign, and quick plat... and maybe a prestige or two in mp... already 40 something, might as well prestige during double xp...

Yeah i skipped the deal for $15, but ended up going in today and using that $5 freebie coupon to get $10psn card and then got a $7 sim card and 2 years extension of gcu. Thanks alot guys.

It would certainly help, but I believe I got that without getting to the City of Gold. Ghost a vault in the ice caves which is the easiest place to do it. Collect all the gems and gold you can too, of course. Kill all the shopkeepers and take the gold. Giant spiders have gems. Smash all pots. Etc.

When I got it, it was on my Hell run. That 100K for winning the real ending was a huge help. I didn't ghost at all, but spent all but about 5 bombs blowing up CoG, and then I got all the rubies on the last fight

One didn't spawn in the Ice world. I couldn't believe it. I searched high and low in all 4 levels. I swear there is no way I could have possibly missed it.

Beating Yama+rubies for ~$250k seems way more important than tearing up the CoG. It was nice to use a few bombs in there to pad my score but ghosting vaults (especially in the easy Ice Caverns as you noted) typically earns around $70k and is almost surely more bomb-efficient.

CoL seems like such a perfect fit for Vita. Bummer that we got screwed on it over here with the lack of cross-buy while also not getting any of the DLC.

 
I've ran into an odd issue with my Vita. It's my understanding that the March update increased the limit to 500 apps on the home screen but I keep getting an error about not exceeding 100. Is there a setting I need to change?

I thought about going back today after work since the website said it had those $3 DotD phones in stock to tack on another 2 years, but they had to manually override the transaction when I did it in the proper order described in the thread earlier in the week and they would be even less likely to do it with a $3 phone I have a feeling. I wish Deus Ex director's cut was at my store, it's available online but you can only use those best buy mystery cash things in store. Guess I'll see if anything new is on sale Sunday, and if not I'll just used it to buy a PSN card.
