No doubt, but a big difference for this generational gap is that we had such a long gen with the X360 and PS3, that I think people were chomping at the bit for the jump finally to arrive. As a result, I expected there to be more of a fall off after 1 good year into the current gen. Store shelves are more diverse than ever too, meaning there is only so much room for last gen games at places like BBY, Target and Gamestop. I mean, the last time we had a new generation come into play, we didn't have our gaming shelves dominated with action figures for Skylanders. That shit monopolizes a lot of space. I thought they would make more room by reducing old stock, which usually equates with more aggressive sales. There's still a gazillion ps3s out there and money to be made, no reason for fire sales yet. Same with the Wii and PSP (at least at target). Once the ps4 is 3 years in things will probably start looking cheaper.
But you're right, it hasn't equated into prices falling off. I mean, here is a last gen game out for almost a year and its at the same price point during the biggest price slashing event of the year as current gen games that just came out.
I am not saying they shouldn't be pricing them this way, but I am still surprised a little bit, and I know I'm not willing to pay new game prices for last gen gaming.
