psn sales suck vs xbla sales/discounts

retrad

CAGiversary!
not a troll I dont even own an xbox 360 but it kind of annoys me that I always see these great sales on xbox and then most of the sales on psn are like on stupid stuff like a psn dart game... really??!! who cares.

Plus isn't that much better, sure there are some free games but some of them are games I wouldn't even play if i had the free time which i dont.

I guess I just get annoyed seeing Red Dead Redemption dlc going on sale multiple times on xbox and never on psn. That and alot of other good games getting sales on xbox whereas ps3 is getting jack.

I dont know if you get the same sales with xbox silver other than gold but even if you compare psn plus vs xbla gold from what Ive seen on my daily news feeds the xbla sale are way better.

are you even a plus subscriber? btw you should look through friskytanukis psn update thread theres stuff on sale just about every week whether its something you want or not isnt sonys fault besides if youre that unhappy why not just get an xbox and be happy?

i dont want an xbox i have a pc thats not the point.

im saying dlc barely ever goes on sale like it seems to on xbox 360 all the time. Doesn't mean I want an xbox 360.

but RDR was a good comparison.

Ive been waiting for Disgaea 3 dlc to either come down in price or go on sale for over a year now. the cost of the complete pack is over twice the cost of the game. Ridonkulous.

the rdr content went on sale when they came out with the zombie pack for plus members day one if i remember correctly. when it comes to some dlc its not up to sony whether the price drops or not look at the turok dlc its never dropped and it probably never will.

i've agree. since i have both 360 and ps3 i usually will buy a game for 360 if i think it's going to have dlc that i want. i had borderlands on ps3 unopened in my backlog for 6-8 months waiting for sales on dlc and never saw one, but xbox had them on sale twice in that time.
i don't have psn plus, but every once in a while i'll check out the topic just to see what they're offering. occasionally they will have a nice sale or two, but for the most part i don't think they're much better than regular sales, to the point where i'd be paying more for psn plus than what i'd be saving on the sales.

yeah one problem with ps+

Some of the sales are good but since you never know when/if they are going to happen they are kind of pointless unless you just want to amass a huge amount of content.

for me, the amount of dlc ill buy in a year is probably $50 or so anyway. I will be buying moondiver and some rockband dlc in the near future but other than that I wont be making a purchase til RE4/CV are released in HD on psn.

point being is that PSN plus might not have those on sale period (they would have a lot more subscribers imo if they had a month or three in advance of deals listed due to it being far more useful/practical for making buying decisions)

as is I have a fton of games to play and limited time, if i was interested in acquiring a fton of content the psn+ would be well worth it for me, however the fact that I have to be selective of my purchases due to money and time means it isn't right for me. I am hardly going to spend $50 and pray the things I want go on sale to make it worth it.

Filling up my ps3 hd with stuff I dont really care about isn't that important to me.

TLDR version: Ps3 discount sales suck and plus doesn't work for me since you have to hold off on acquiring what you really want in hopes that it goes on sale to make it worth it. The things im interested in may never go on plus sales and thus the $50 would be better spent towards buying what I want in the first place.

Never know? Sony almost always announced upcoming sales and we know for a FACT that every month we're going to get 3 free games...

Some PSN sales are awesome. I've been waiting for Penny Arcade EPisode 2 to go on sale on XBL for a loooong time. PSN gave me Episode 1 and 2 for $2.99. (and Episode 2 on XBL just dropped to $10 briefly, wooohoo).

On downloadable games themselves the sales are good (Deathspank and ToV for $7.50 each) from what I've seen. On DLC...not as much.

That's kind of harsh to say. Especially, if your reasons for disliking the PSN sales is because there aren't specific DLC you want on sale that week.

I'd say just buy the DLC you want instead of waiting for a sale. I'm sure you'll save the difference in the long run finding other deals here.

Or you could think of all PSN DLC as "on sale' via gameshare... want a 50% discount, share the DLC with a friend. Want an 80% discount, share the DLC with 4 friends.

dude why the hell do they need to list sales 3 months in advance. they post every sale on their site and those sales tend to last for a week sometimes more and on top of that friskytanuki and others post every damn deal /sale/discount they find out about in this forum.

if youre too lazy to look it up thats your problem not sonys.

Even without being a Plus member, I still sweep up on all the special sales and discounts that happen for regular folks.

There's rarely much on sale I'm interested in from either platform, although I think I've gotten slightly more mileage from PSN sales. Everything worth getting from XBLA seems to be gold only, which counts me out.

You can't expect major sales to happen every week, that would be like hoping for black friday every week. I was happy when I got all the treasure of monkey island games for like half price or less I forget what they were.

FEED THE TROLL!
Also who cares I had 3 xboxs all three broke within 6months of getting them, 1 PS3 never even had a little problem with it, so xbox might have sales but they get you with making you spend 200+ every 6 months cause their piece of trash system breaks on you :)

PS3 > Dog Turd > 360

Well if you really want to make an anti-360 argument. I would argue that since they are discounting the games on a regular basis they are desperate for sales. Sony doesn't have to slash prices to generate sales because people are actually willing to pay full price for the higher quality games.

That is of course if you wanted to make such a fanboy argument.

XBL sales are a freaking joke. PSN has had sales before XBLA ever had them, which is true. There continues to be great sales on PSN (such as Spring Fever), and there have been many great PSP sales. It's just that some games on PSN are too awesome to discount cheap at times.

Idk..Xbox Live has had some amazing sales LATELY, but for awhile, it seemed like PSN was getting everything on sale before us! I remember Sonic 4 and Costume Quest both went on sale before we ever saw sales on them. This current sale is AMAZING, but a sale of this size and magnitude is few and far between so far.

But at the end of the day, a sale is a sale. Be happy with sales on either console and reap the benefits :D

I really don't care about sales. I can game share with 4 other people and pay $5 for a $30 game. I hope rumors are not true that game sharing will be prohibited once policy changes.

Now if you're going to criticize PSN's "SALES" then how about coming up with more than just one sorry ass example? Don't make a thread with a comment and then don't back it up... with Example(s) - meaning more than one. Do you really want to discuss the topic or do you want to just bicker? Don't post nothing else in this threat until you come back with some examples of sales that were better on xbox live, than PSN. Good luck.
its almost like you wanted to be on my ignore list
Is that supposed to hurt my feelings?
When you make a dumbass thread like this and talk about things you know nothing about, I welcome the ignore.
Not that you'll see this...or will you, troll?

I heard Crazy Mouse is pretty awesome for Xbox Live. You should go check it out. :D

Of course, you mean $6 not $5 for a $30 game and a maximum of 5 shares.

Nice one!

Troooooooooooooll.
It should be noted that if you pay $50 ($10 gameshared) a year for playstation plus, you can get shitloads of free games. That's a much better deal than $35-$50 than you would pay for Xbox live, and you don't even get complementary games for using that service.
