PSN vs Live Experience

I prefer XBL, but that is because I like that more 360 users have mics (others don't like this) and I play with my friends that I know in real life.

Yes, everyone having mics is nice, cross game chat, game invites(one or two button presses and you are instantly in a match with friends can't be beat), party mode, overall Live awareness. Just take something simple like comparing achievements/trophies. Why does that have to load on the PS3? Also, not exclusive to Gold, but custom soundtracks are another great feature.
(at least PS3 supports any bluetooth or USB keyboard, so I no longer need to send messages on some website to make typing easier and won't messaging isn't exactly a must).
360 has keyboard support as well, but sell your argument anyway.
Downloads between the two are exactly the same if you (and this is what I've done):
-Open up ports on your router and configure it for PSN, although not an easy task for some.
Hitting up xbox.com to send a message is a pain in the ass to you, but you want people to deal with ports on a router to get the best of PSN? Ha! That's awesome.
Based on my experience with COD4 (i have it for both the 360 & PS3), xbl is better. The ps3 has A LOT of issues when it comes to parties in COD4. For example, although COD4 enables users to invite their friends in game and join, half of the time I get an error (host was unable to connect to server). So when that happens on the PS3 I'm SOL and sit out until my friends are finished to be invited in their party. This wouldn't be a problem on the 360 because I could just go to the dashboard and join their game myself. Another thing I've noticed is that public and private parties tend to disband more frequently through the PSN than XBL.
IMO, I blame IW for their terrible work on the PS3 version of CoD4, because the party system is very broken in the PS3 version of CoD4 and they never bothered to fix it (like the other versions). I'll admit the issues on PS3 are:
-Party system is broken
-Invites don't work half the time
-host disconnects or connection interrupts

and other issues.

Burnout Paradise for an example (which is on PS3/360), it's actually easy/faster to jump into games with friends on PS3. Invites work well, never a disconnection unless your connection is very bad or you lose connection based on your end, and so on. R2 for an example, your party stays connected at all times and there are never issues with the party.

Saying XBL is way better than PSN just because of CoD4 isn't really a good comparison though. It's like SCIV on both platforms are very similar online, Burnout Paradise just happens to be easier on PS3 to get online/offline, while CoD4 just has too many issues online on PS3 (which is why I sold my copy). But like I said, it just varies game by game cases. XBL is a more central network where almost every game is running on MS servers. On PSN, most games are running on third party servers (unless it's a first party game by SCE). All PSN does is link to the various servers by various publishers.

It's like on PSN, a developer has to implement the online features themselves, instead of what MS already has standardized. For some games the XBL standard features work better in its favor. For some games it works worse (some devs have put together a really great online system to their game that's superior to the rest IMO). Activision is one publisher I can say who has done a TERRIBLE job using PSN features (while EA on the other hand has done a pretty good job).

Burnout is the exception though and not the rule. I haven't played it in months but aren't the online functions identical in the 360 version? It's all mapped to the d-pad just like PS3.

I didn't say it was better because of COD4. I was talking about my experience based on COD4 because that's the only online capable game I have for both system. I agree it's not always the PSN, one example being SOCOM, there are some flaws right now. The developers are working to fix the party issues. However, as far as joining sessions for most games, it is still easier through XBL simply because they have the join session option through the dashboard. I've been on the PSN longer than I have on XBL so that's what I've noticed. XBL has its advantages.

I also forgot to mention NXE now gives you the option to chat with a party even though you guys aren't playing the same game. It's a pretty neat feature.

Maybe one payment isn't bad, but constantly doing it each year is what got to me.

Like I said, expect that to come to PSN once the OS footprint decreases to a point they can allow in-game chat while playing different games (kind of like in-game XMB, they could not implement it until they decreased the amount of memory the OS uses in-game. MS being a software company, has no problems implementing several features using up very little memory).

But Criterion are definitely very big PS3 fans and really wanted to make the game work really well on PS3.
Do PSN. Hell, I use Home so much I might even stop using the internet all together. Thats how good it is.
The future of console gaming is here.

SO because live is so "easy" to join up with friends, that means you're willing to pay for it?! And they call this site cheap ass gamer?

lol they can do that, becasue none of them are stupid enough to pay to be there.
I'm usually kind to mentally challenged people, but you're a fuckin' dumbass Thomas.
oh my someone's definitely on their Menstrual Cycle... you might wanna take a little Midol for that..

How much would anyone be willing to pay for PSN? I am happy with what I get for my $50 (I dont pay that much) a year on Live. I wouldn't pay $30 a year for PSN with the way it currently is. Yeah, yeah, it's free though... If I hand you a Britney Spears CD and tell you "no charge" are you gonna run to the internets and tell everyone that the new Britney Spears cd is awesome and the Christina Aguilerra cd they just bought sucks ass? No. Because Britney Spears fucking sucks no matter how much you did or didn't pay for her cd.
