I've had my PS3 since the Christmas before last, but its been my secondary console behind my xbox. This Final Fantasy sale finally convinced me to join PS+, and all the FF's will be my first purchases from the PSN store once it lets me buy them, I keep getting an error whenever I try to buy them using my debit card, even though I have way more than enough in my account...

I kept trying to resist it, but I'm getting FFT WotL. I maxed everything on the original, and I don't know if I will do it again, but at this price..... /sigh backlog.

Listened to the first few minutes of the Blogcast, no mention of the Tom Clancy sales next week. Lots of DLC and old full games, I'm sure. Maybe Splinter Cell collection, which might be nice for those without the disc.

No mention of what's on sale for the Tom Clancy's sale next week, so I'll take a shot at showing all of the possible content that could be on sale with no guarantees of what will specifically be on sale:

Games
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - $13.99 PSN - $9.79 PS+ - 10 GB
Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 - $13.99 PSN - $9.79 PS+ - 8.6 GB
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas - $13.99 PSN - $9.79 PS+ - 10 GB
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - $13.99 PSN - $9.79 PS+ - 7.6 GB
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent - $13.99 PSN - $9.79 PS+ - 6.3 GB
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD Bundle - $27.99 PSN - $19.59 PS+ - 10.25 GB

Again, there's no confirmation that all of this will be on sale, but this is all of the paid Tom Clancy's content on PSN.

i havent played a tom clancy game since i first got my 360 with graw. are any of the other games worth grabbing? preferably with trophies so i have something to shoot for besides just beating the game.

Thanks Frisky, excellent list.

Only games that have trophies are the HD Collection games, everything else is too old.

EDIT: I lied, HAWX 2 has trophies

Even though the R6V games don't have trophies, they're still pretty fun. They strike a nice balance between a sim and arcade feel. The thing that sets the series apart from other FPSs is that there's several situations where you and your team have to decide how to best ambush enemies in a room. You're often given several options in how to best clear out the enemies quickly while keeping any of their hostages alive. While the AI can be a little dumb at times (the enemies are often unaware of gunfire going on in the next room), your squadmates are a little more intelligent than they were in GRAW.

GRAW2 & SC Double Agent also lack trophies.

The Splinter Cell "HD" trilogy has had the multiplayer stripped out of the games, which is the strong point of the series. You're left with single player games that require a ton of patience and a willingness to deal with psychic AI.

Tom Clancy sale, meh. This FF sale was perfect though and will last me, got FF origins, FF V and FFIV complete. My Vita will be a FF machine!

Now just waiting for the FFXIII-2 Ultros and Mass Effect armor DLC.

A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas won the Theatrical Throwdown and will be available to rent for $0.99 this weekend starting at 2 PM PST. They also have the first two Saw movies on there to rent for $0.99 each.
Sweet. I heard it's far better than the 2nd one, gonna check it out this weekend.

They should do this every weekend.
i know it has trophies, was wondering if anyone had this and had any opinions....
I played it on 360 a while back, and ended up flipping it rather quickly. The voice activation was hit or miss. Sometimes it felt right, but when it was wrong, it was debilitating. The actual gameplay lacked depth, it was very rock-paper-scissorsy. I'm not sure I'd recommend it, but since the console RTS pickings are slim, I'd say give it a shot if you're really starved for one.

I guess I just get to blow my wad this week with the FF. Tom Clancy games were never my thing.

Rayman 3 for $8 is a great deal, but I know Ubi will probably have this on sale for $5. Definitely getting HOTD4 when it comes out though.

It took forever for BG&E HD to go on sale on Xbox. Has it ever been on sale on PS3? Frisky, do you know?

Point is, you may be waiting on Rayman for a while. I think I'm gonna grab it at 20% off.

Can't beat 99 cents, in for 1!

I think the online portion of endwar is shutdown, so if you plan on getting it, online trophies and the platinum are no longer achievable.

A slight bit off topic, but who here bought Warriors Orochi 3 on PSN? I'm like having the shakes waiting for this to come out on 360. If enough CAGs picked this up, I may be included to just buy it on PSN instead, and the ten dollars off is nice. :)

That's Frisky. I guess I'll leave be for now. This sale made me want to find the GBA versions of V and VI. Reasonable prices be damned it seems. o_O

*stares at 50+ game backlog*

I'm gonna wait lol
i looked for warriors of orochi 3 reviews and found none, was wondering what that was all about... no demo.
Any review you find for the game will likely give it substandard marks. Gamers typically have a love/hate relationship with these games. If you're a fan of the series you'll know what to expect going into it. If you've never played them before all you really need to know is that the Orochi series is basically the cast from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series thrown together into the same game. These games basically boil down to killing a ton of braindead enemies while you search for better loot for your characters.

those games can be fun if the enemies are actually challenging to kill somewhat...

games where you have a bunch of rag dolls running at you can get boring fast, no matter how big a fan you are of anything else.

Torn between signing up for PS+ (have mostly used my PS3 as a secondary console, but after diving back in the store with Journey I saw a bunch of appealing products and may switch over since I don't really play online much anyway) and just buying the three FF games I want (VIII, IX, and FFT) for $21.

Also, though it's not a FF game, I really wish Chrono Cross was on sale as well. Mostly I just want to update all of my PSX games that I have on disc so I don't have to worry about the discs crapping out on me.

I have 2 questions for someone kind enough to answer them, 1.how long does the sale last? 2. Any news on vita games being included in the sales aside from motor storm rc? Thanks

That and memory cards. Well Grandia got a perm price drop to $5.99, so there may still be hope. Am I wrong for wanting $3.00 "digital copies" of games I physically own, just have to unbox them. Most PS1 games I got for $20 or less, they got really cheap and I was late to PS1 adapt.

About FF9, thank you for reminding me why I was upset playing that game. One: having to speed through a FF and not enjoy it just to get best weapon? Blah. Two: I freaking hate Steiner in the first place, he was never in my party if I could help it.

Why don't you just enjoy the game at your own pace? It's easily one of the best FFs. Imagine if everyone tried to speed through Metroid in 15 minutes or whatever the requirement was for seeing Samus in her underoos.

The Final Fantasy sale? It lasts until the next update on Tuesday.

When you buy PSN codes from GameStop or Best Buy, are they delivered immediately after purchase like on Amazon for MS points?
When you buy PSN codes from GameStop or Best Buy, are they delivered immediately after purchase like on Amazon for MS points?
Gamestop codes are immediate at checkout. Best Buy ones are emailed to you, my experience has been within 5 or 10 minutes.
When you buy PSN codes from GameStop or Best Buy, are they delivered immediately after purchase like on Amazon for MS points?
My experience with Z.H.P for the PSP digital & PSN code purchase took about 17 hours.

Hmm, alright, I'll chance it on GameStop. My least favorite store, but a Google search showed Best Buy takes a business day to process. I WANNA PLAY NOW. Those FF deals are too good to pass up.

I don't want to give my credit card to the 360 or the PS3. With MS auto charging you for everything and PSN always getting compromised, I prefer to use codes.

Why are Best Buy and GameStop the only places that sell PSN codes? I buy 360 points on Amazon often and as soon as I do, it says something akin to, "your order is complete, click here to view your code." in seconds, but they don't offer any PSN codes. What's the deal? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. They don't even offer something as simple as screenshots for the games on the PSN store.

EDIT. GameStop says they are not available right now. Forget it. PSN is always more trouble than it's worth.
Amazon stopped selling PSN codes last fall with no explanation.
Probably because PSN is more trouble to deal with than it's worth.

If you ordering from best buy website, make sure its the (Downloadable Content) version of PSN card and you should get them in about 10-20 minutes. For me at least.

I just went ahead and ordered from Best Buy a few minutes ago since they were the only retailer out of the 2 who sell PSN codes to have any available. I'll let you guys know when the code comes through.

AH! I'm contemplating buying all of the $4.89 (PS+ discounted) FF games for PS1 and PSP. I own all the physical copies, but man, I'd be nice to play them all on Vita.

i dont think any psone games work on Vita. Yet. supposedly this will be "fixed" later on

It'll probably take forever, because PSN is more trouble than it's worth.

Question, I should be able to install and play final fantasy vii on my ps3 correct? I have downloaded it and every time I click the install bubble it goes through the installation but when I click ok After its finished it still shows the install bubble for the game and it didn't install.
The bubble is left behind since that's needed to transfer it to the PSP. It should still be installed on the PS3 once that's done.
Yeah, it should install to your PS3, verify it's there, then just go ahead and delete the bubble unless you want to transfer it to your PSP or Vita in the future probably.
