This may be the first month I have absolutely no interest in anything for Plus. I am glad some others are excited for it though. I don't really need anything else to play anyhow.

Tips for Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare and a new trailer:

The exclusive hats for the PS3/PS4 versions:

14595491510_e646f9f6ec_z.jpg

They're pre-order exclusive and the Fat Princess hat is a digital pre-order exclusive.
I really love PvZGW. It's extremely fun and I highly recommend it. I'm sad I can't play with those awesome hats. I hate when the really cool stuff is retailer exclusive. :(

I'm very pleased with next month's offerings. I played a little bit of Fez on PC but stopped and then forgot what the hell I was doing. I didn't believe people when they said they had to write things down but it's true.

Dragon's Crown is nice, of course (especially with both versions).. I prefer it to Muramasa. Always wanted to check out Crysis.

Proteus, lol.

I smell a flash sale this weekend.  Hopefully some more 1 dollar classics because there are still a bunch I want like tomba.  Yay dragons crown hopefully I can use my arcade stick with it.

you can play it for free and find out in a couple days. from what i understand it's a platformer that has cool perspective tricks and an extremely complex mythology to solve through puzzles. Or something..
just saw a vid of it. it reminds me of that pokemon ”buneary” tripping out on pcp lol

Another good month for me, the only one I own is Dragon's Crown on PS3. I played the Fez demo on Vita when it launched and liked the game, but I'm glad I waited. I've resisted buying Crysis 3 at $10-$20, but it is something I want to play at some point. Road Not Taken looks good, for when I have a PS4. Proteus is probably the least interesting to me at this point, and I know nothing about the last title.

Is it common to finish downloading a game purchased on psn to not show up as an install icon?

Ive downloaded double dragon neon 3x and it doesnt show up.

I was so excited to see what this PSNow thing is all about!

Wait, I have to pay to RENT a PS3 game to play on my PS4?

And it's expensive too? That's what this thing is?

I will never be using this service.  Ever.

Why just not let me BUY PS3 games to play on my PS4?

Eventually Sony will be offering a Netflix-type plan as well.

The PS4 doesn't have a Cell processor to run digital copies of PS3 games locally, nor does the PS4 have the power to emulate the Cell. It took a great deal of effort on Naughty Dog's part to port just a single PS3 game to the PS4.

I would maybe consider a higher tier PS+ plan to let me have unlimited PS3 game access on my PS4.

Or I could just buy the games for my actual PS3.

They could have taken the WiiU approach and let the console boot up in some sort of PS3 mode. I don't want to speculate on exactly how much that would have driven up the cost, but it was certainly doable.

And if they are allowing you to "rent" PS3 ports on PS4, there is absolutely no reason why, at the very least, digital purchases couldn't have been brought over.... if not physical copies as well. I'm sorry but your Cell processor comment just doesn't fly. Even people who know nothing about the hardware should be able to put this together.... If you can "rent" the PS3 version on PS4, it's a simple matter to give you access to your PSN library on the same service. Or have they finally agreed to let people access their available PSN games via this service? Because, last I heard, that wasn't the case on PS4....

It's funny how ignorant your comment is when you are belittling the opinion of someone else who probably understands it better than you do. PS Now is a streaming service so none of the processing is done on your local machine. The setup is literally a server warehouse full of PS3s (or some variant of the PS3 hardware) that are sending the screen output to your local machine (PS4, PS3, Vita, Bravia TV) over the internet. Your controller input is uploaded over the internet to that PS3 server farm also. Almost no processing happens on your local machine, so the PS4 doesn't need the cell processor or any of the other hardware that those games were specifically written for.

As for the practical nature of how hard it would have been to build this into the PS4 is up for debate, but it seems likely that it would have been enough to make the PS4 more expensive than the Xbox One. I would imagine it was much cheaper for Nintendo to emulate the Wii since its hardware was already pretty cheap. Nintendo probably also recognized that they needed backward compatibility simply to try to be more enticing for consumers looking at the value proposition of a console that wasn't much more powerful than existing Sony and Xbox consoles.

Sure, that'd certainly be a nice feature to have. However Sony would still have to foot the bill for the servers & traffic without any new return on their additional investment.

Sony did the exact same thing where they sold you digital PS2 games on the PS3: After they removed the backwards compatibility, rather than letting you just put in specific PS2 discs and run the PS2 emulator free of charge they sold you the game again to help cover the cost of developing the emulator.

I'm not particularity crazy about the PS Now business model either, but at the same time I realize that these game companies have to make money somewhere to cover the cost of introducing new services.

I'm pretty sure I read that PS Now won't carry over your digital licenses from PS3.

I've got an NVIDIA Shield, PS4+PS Vita and multiple PCs running Steam and have never really enjoyed any implementation of "running game on one device and streaming it to a second one" vs. just playing a game on the system it's originally intended for.

There's always a compromise on video quality, input responsiveness, or both. And that's over my own wired + 802.11ac wifi network at home.

During the times that the stars align and I manage to get 720p 60FPS streaming from my gaming PC to my Shield it's actually pretty cool in small doses, but I don't see how doing the same thing over the Internet is going to result in an enjoyable experience.

I'll stick with my cheap PS3 and buying used games for now.

Holy shit, someone bought an NVIDIA Shield?

Funny, because your comment has got to be among the most ignorant I've read here.... and trust me, that's saying a lot. You don't seem to grasp anything, let alone what I was saying.... that or you are just lying by putting words into my mouth, saying I said something that I didn't.

I can confirm that, as of right now, PS Now access on PS4 will not give you free access to anything hosted. It's as if everything you bought on PS3 never happened. I was hoping against hope that that would change as the service became public but I know that will never happen.

If you'd rather own and/or play the games on your PS3, then the service wasn't really made for you. It's more for people that want to play games that they missed and want to see if it's any good without committing to a PS3 and full game purchase.

Playing on your PS3 will be a way better experience than PS Now could be as a substitute or replacement.

I think this is the big issue, as letting everyone that owns these games to play them indefinitely for free are going to use up lots of server bandwidth without paying anything for the service it's running through. It would easily be possible to let you own games, but they probably just want to get the service up and running with rental and sub options before catering to the hoarder market that covers most of us around here.

I'm not sure that you understand what "ignorant" means. I was responding to this quote from you:

"...I'm sorry but your Cell processor comment just doesn't fly. Even people who know nothing about the hardware should be able to put this together.... If you can "rent" the PS3 version on PS4, it's a simple matter to give you access to your PSN library on the same service."

According to the post you quoted, you were responding to Yars comment about how the PS4 cannot run PS3 digital games locally because of the cell processor that the PS3 uses.

Perhaps you didn't intend for your later comments to be a direct connection to the cell processor, but it's not worded that way, if so.

why do people keep on bithcing about the price when its still in beta ? lol. im betting it will get the netflix subscription treatment when it launches

I find it hard to believe that the beta which they are using to test the system would charge so much more than the true service.

Especially considering that it might be buggy and not work right at all.

Plus, you use this word bitching. I do not think it means what you think it means.

P.S. I would be mildly interested in a buy and always own but still stream gaming program.

A permanent rent, I guess. If Sony does not or cannot make the PS4 play PS3 games through simple download and emulation then use the system they are setting up and sell a permanent license to whatever game through the streaming service.

Like Amazon's mp3's.  The ones I bought, I can forever listen to on the cloud (even if I never download them)

I have a feeling there will be lots of options that they aren't showing yet. Maybe they're making the pricing high so the real plan options will look much more enticing in comparison (although this doesn't seem likely).

I'm still betting on them making PS Plus and PS Now pretty heavily integrated in some way. It may mean we lose free download games and get free streaming games or free streaming credit instead. I'm not saying what is best, i'm just saying that they probably have better plans than just the current setup - unless there's just a bunch of suckers out there that are paying a bunch to stream an old game for a few hours/days.

I'd love an option to own things from PS Now, but I understand why they're not going all out with it right away. They're not going to do normal emulation or they would not have gone the PS Now route.

I believe the 4 hour prices were dropped from what they were in the closed beta to what they are now.

I don't really get why anybody would want to rent any of these games for 30 days or 90 days, as you might as well buy them on PS3 at that point. The four hour and seven day rentals seem to be the best options for whether you want it for an afternoon or a few days to beat it.

They better have a subscription plan otherwise this is a failure. If I want to rent a game for a week, I will go to GS and get it used.

https://twitter.com/RockBand/status/494920465111326720

More Rock Band songs will be delisted in a few weeks on 8/26, which includes two Fleetwood Mack songs and all of the Spinal Tap stuff, so get them before they're gone.

For some reason I thought the PS Now games would be free for beta. I really want to try it out but prices are just ridiculous. I will never use this service like this.

Looking at the PS Now pricing and it's weird how much some of these publishers/developers are charging and how some, mostly indies, are restricting options to 90 days. I'm not sure why Telltale thinks anybody needs 90 days for their episodes and are charging 80% of what they cost natively on PS3. I hope some of these publishers see that charging $20-$40 for the highest tier is ridiculous when they're just rentals.

I'd be fine with $2 for four hours and $6 for a week for retail stuff. I don't know that PSN games would be something that I'd rent.

I'll have to do some research and come up with a list of price comparisons to PS3.

Thats EXACTLY how I feel about every comment you've ever made on all of CAG.

Also, why are you even still here??? (see below)

Teslagrad coming to retail on PS4 and Wii U. I don't know why that game needs a physical version, its not even that great of a game.

whats fez like ? never played it
If you just play for main story completion, it's basically a really great, detailed open-world 2D platformer with a creative 3D rotation gimmick. If you play for 100% completion, you'll probably fill a notebook with crazy scrawls, charts, and symbols trying to decode the game's insane, uber deep and complicated puzzles.

Yeah, there's no way this is worth it especially compared to PS Plus.

I think the prize winner is that you can pay $4 or whatever to rent Back to the Future episode 1 for a few hours when it's free to buy and own forever on PS3.

Also, that there is even a 4 hour option for Final Fantasy 13.
