Also the dino crisis games aren't bad if you like dinosaurs and survival horror/action games.
Heavily recommend Dino Crisis.

One of my all time favorite games. Now in general Survival Horror, which was actually a real genre back in the late 90s, is one of the best genres of all time and Dino Crisis was developed and plays just like Silent Hill or Resident Evil. Made by Capcom so not surprising.

So yeah if you like the old school survival horror genre Dino Crisis 1 is a must. Im also a huge Jurassic Park nut so the combination was perfect.

However Dino Crisis 2 is a different game. It plays more like a linear action game than a survival horror. Its still fun and colorful just know that tidbit before jumping into it. I was a bit letdown as I wish they kept the same exact format. However for 99 cent grabbing both is worth it.

Thanks for the info... after debating, I ended up buying Dino Drisis 1 and 2, mainly because of their "why not it's only a dollar" prices.  These were two of only ten games in this sale I didn't already own, yet I added them to my backlog anyway...  :/

Alright, I spent my credit.

Thanks to everyone who helped despite this thread being more of a ghost town than usual.

Ended up buying Dino Crisis 1 + 2, Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms 1 + 2, Syphon Filter 1 - 3, plus Double Dragon Neon and Munch's Odyssey HD.

Argh, silly me for thinking that the flash sale ended at 12pm (EST).

At least I came away with two of the games that I wanted from the sale:

-Legend of Dragoon (whip smack!)

-Harvest Moon (portable purposes)

I grabbed Papo & Yo because I wanted it before when it was on sale, but not enough to spend the money.  Got Harvest Moon for my son that likes those games.  I kind of wish I had more $$ on my account but there weren't any more $20 cards at the local stores I checked and I didn't want to give sony my cc info.  So, ... oh well.  My backlog is crazy anyway on PS3 and I hit the Steam summer sale pretty hard, so better luck next time.

I ended up getting Wild Arms, Wild Arms 2, Legend of Dragoon, Worms Revolution, and Papa & Yo because they were a dollar.  Still playing Arkham Origin though.

That's why I just buy the PSN digital codes on amazon now, don't have to give Sony my CC and I can replenish them on an as needed basis pretty much instantly without having to go to a store.

http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/38438-dont-starve-reign-of-giants-launching-on-ps4-july-22-in-north-america-july-23-europe/

Don't Starve's Reign of Giants expansion is out next week on PS4 for $4.99, $4.49 for PS+:

Key Features:
  • New playable characters: Reign of Giants adds two characters for players to discover and survive with. Play as Wigfrid, a stage actress who went a bit too far with method acting on her latest role, an ancient Valkyrie, or Webber, a young boy who lives inside the spider who tried to eat him long ago.
  • Year-round starvation: Struggle through a full year of seasons as you experience the torrential rain falls of spring and the blistering heat of summer.
  • A bigger, badder world: New biomes have been filled to the brim with new creatures and gatherables that will either help you survive - or kill you.
  • An extra save slot: You asked, we delivered.
  • Giants: They’re in the name for crying out loud!
Also, along with the expansion being available, all Don’t Starve players will get a new free patch for the base game which includes performance enhancements, bug fixes and a some of the content that was previously only on PC including:

  • Added Snow Chester and Shadow Chester
  • New in-game text strings & dialogue
  • Option to disable Screen Shake.
  • Expanded options for World Generation.
  • New ability to save custom pre-sets in World Generation screen
  • Random character select option when starting a new game.

^ Oh my dear. 50 cents off for PS+ members? That is just too generous but who am I to say no??!

Infamous 2 plat was pretty easy, actually, since collectibles show up on the minimap AND you could do user created missions that teleported you to collectibles and/or let you boost everything else.

Infamous 1 plat was atrocious due to some extremely hard to find collectibles.
Yeah, I remember you guys talking about that workaround from the user content. Plus there aren't as many high rises in infamous 2's city. Idk I still can't see it being easier than Second Son. Not sure if you've tried it. Literally is a walk in the park. Couldn't have taken me more than 12 hours. My kind of platinum!

Tried out the Blue Estate demo last night. I didn't get very far...but yeahhh. From the title screen's ass shot to the obese mermaid stripper (lmfao)...this is definitely for a select crowd. Wasn't even that funny...just a little weird. I honestly couldn't tell you what was going on. I might see what the comic is about if it's available online.

But, yeah, @snakey and others are right about the controls. They work surprisingly well (except for having to constantly re-center the reticle). I don't know what kind of "6-axis" voodoo they cooked up for the DS4 but that thing blows the DS3's out of the water. I noticed the same improvement when using it with Flower and Second Son. So it'll be interesting to see where devs can take this.

One thing that annoyed me about Blue Estate was the lack of vibration while shooting and re-loading. God, that's one of my favorite thing about shooters. It does give feedback when taking damage, though.

Demo is on the store (~2GB).

This. I didn't think hard difficulty was hard at all for either game, but the collectibles in inFamous 1 were terrible to try and find the last 2-3 blast shards. I still need to replay both 1 and 2 for the evil paths, and use a map to try and do the collectibles for inFamous 1 - I think after 6+ hours searching for the last 2 shards I gave up.

I take pride in my two platinums. No workarounds, no user content, no maps. Just me finding every shard in Infamous 2. I cherished every moment of the game.

Infamous 1 though. Forget about that. I couldn't even win the game once and my HD got corrupted and I lost the file (before I had PS+ cloud). Someday I'll try again but not today and not tomorrow either. I would maybe use a map but honestly, I know I'm never going to pick that game up again. I'll watch the ending on Youtube.

The I-2 evil final battle was much easier (on hard) in my opinion than the good final battle (on normal). Playing a second time got to be a little tedious though as almost every mission was the same. Added challenge to only kill the bystanders who threw rocks at me (since my kids were watching).

ended up with wild arms. Legend . harvest moon and wild arms 2. I forgot how Awful ps1 games looked. Dude on wild arms 2 looks like someone made out of lego blocks. Fun game but graphics really show their age

I only got the first game, but would have to agree with you about the graphics in the combat scenes. They're just bad. It's not just because of the limitations of the PSOne, but because the character designs are crap. What the hell is "balloon" supposed to be? If you're going to make a mook enemy, at least make it kind of cute or appealing. A tangled eldritch horror that exists in predominantly dark areas does NOT make a good starter enemy. The flat, flopping duck mole and weird-looking insects aren't much better. What the hell do they have to do with the wild west, anyway?

The art direction in this game is tolerable in the 2D areas and despicable in the 3D ones, making me think that Media.Vision would have been far better off sticking to 2D. It did wonders for Suikoden. (Didn't hurt that Suikoden had enemies that were attractively drawn and didn't look like unwashed ass.)

I bought a PS4 tonight and am downloading all my PS+ games plus a few of the CrossBuy titles (Sound Shapes, Flower, Flow). I'm looking forward to playing Resogun, Don't Starve, Strider and Mercenary Kings the most. I'm not sure which games out of the list have multiplayer, but I'd love to add some more people to my friends list. My username: IXICleaner7IXI (I really wish Sony would let us change usernames. Dunno why the fuck I did that stupid IXI crap.)

I picked up almost every game that wasn't free on PS+ during the Flash Sale. I couldn't resist.

I missed my chance to say this yesterday, but I assumed the 7up game you guys were talking about was Spot, an othello clone for the NES. That game rules, well if you like Othello and animated spots.

Not yet; I really want to play Infamous SS and Wolfenstien but I get very little PS4 time due to family time. I can squeeze in vita time pretty well, but most days I get zero ps4 time. I remote play sometimes, but tend to get sucked into vita games. Someday...

Does it require the camera?

I gave up on the last few shards for well over a year, until just before the sequel came out. There was one in particular I never would have found, but it turned out that googling 'can't find last shard' got me a list of the top 5 hardest to find ones... and that helped me considerably. Still, it's an exercise in how not to do collectibles. The only games with worse collectibles that i can think of are any Assassin Creed game, GTA pigeons, and the 1 billion orbs of Enslaved. I still have nightmares about the orbs in Enslaved, and I never even got around to collecting them all. I always tried to do the AC ones but always gave up in disgust.

Getting back into Super Stardust Delta after forgetting about it for a while. It's still a great game and one of the best on Vita. I got both of the Endless mode trophies with the 10 minute trophy being the hardest due to forgetting to use specials to clear out swarming groups of enemies.

Ok I remember you saying you were expecting a kid. I'm still without them so fortunately I'm not reliant on vita for gaming *shudders at the thought!!* Butttt, I will say again Terraria breathed new life into it for me. I wish there was a way we could see our gaming hours as I'm sure mine are ridiculous by now. I also restarted P4G after abandoning it last year. I have some thoughts on that but will wait until I beat it. I'll just say I'm so freaking glad I turned the difficulty down this play through. But yeah vitas been showing me a lot of love lately as well. When you do get around to more PS4 time definitely put Infamous and Wolfenstein to the front of the queue as they're short romps.

Blue Estate does NOT require the camera, surprisingly. And it still feels precise as hell.

You are correct.

I'm getting tired so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to really test out the new system and games. So far the DS4 feels awesome. People weren't kidding when they mentioned the improvements. I even like what little I've used of the touchpad. When I was logging in I realized that you could use it like a cursor and click to select. I also forgot that the console came with $10. That was a nice bonus.

Now I'm just waiting for my care package from my buddy (I believe it includes Infamous SS and the new PS4 camera) and hopefully he can get me a cheap copy of TLOU Remastered through On.PlayStation. Then I'll be set until The Order comes out (I got that cheap LE through BBY.)

DS4 is a true achievement in game controllers. It's fantastic.

Yup, I have an 8 month old son, who is pretty much the best thing ever. The kind of focus a ps4 requires makes it difficult to find time for it, whereas i can easily play vita if he takes a nap or something and suspend instantly if he wakes.

I was gaming at night, but i recently started waking up at the crack of dawn to workout, which means gaming at night is a no go (need solid sleep, gaming before bed gets the adrenaline going).

And since I have so little time, it's really hard to justify buying $60 ps4 games when I've got a pile I haven't touched yet (still haven't finished KZ or NFS, and then of all the ps+ games I've only plat'd Resogun and put significant time into Don't Starve).

Uncharted 4 will be bought, as will Bloodborne. But I've barely touched Dark Souls 2 on my ps3, and that alone speaks volumes to my lack of time. But honestly, as much as i miss it, I infinitely prefer hanging out with my son.

I really didn't enjoy p4g and gave up after awhile. I know most people play it on easy to enjoy the story, but the only part of the game i actually care about are the dungeons and demon fusing... and on hard it's alright, but still bogged down by the high school stuff. As for the fusing demons, I'd rather just play Nocturne (or Devil Summonr for an action version instead of turn based) and for the dungeons I'd rather play Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga).

I love the press turn system and i love demon fusing. I hate hate hate high school drama. The constant feeling i needed to check a guide to know what to do during the day also ruined it for me.

I think that "7up and Spot presents: Shakespeare's Othello" would be the greatest game ever made :)

Harvest Moon taught me everything I know about wooing women. I sort of remember why I never finish these though.

It sort of is. You are doing this on purpose!

If it makes you feel any better, your first guess isn't that far off. Another name for Othello is Reversi. It's a token game like checkers in which each player has different colored stones. One version of the game uses white stones and black stones, so they named it after Shakespeare's play.

You may have heard of this game and just never realized it before. It isn't unusual for it to be pre-installed on PCs along with Solitaire, probably using the name Reversi to avoid licensing fees. Each side gets stone tokens and you begin in the middle of the board. On your turn you place a token near an adjacent one, and you flip the color of everything in between the new token and any other token you control. The object of the game is to dominate the board with your tokens.

I enjoyed Persona 4: Golden on my Vita and on normal. Only took me about 75-80hrs to complete the game. My only grievance was how it would overwrite the last dungeon floor I got to, with the last dungeon floor I was on before I left. For example, If I was on Floor 12 and restarted the dungeon I'd end up on Floor 6 or whatever when I went back in. I didn't need to constantly check a guide when I played. Probably, because I played the game before on the PS2 and I knew what I was getting into. I didn't do all the social links or get all the trophies and I honestly don't mind the High School stuff. I played Persona 3 before, so I knew what I was also getting into because of it. The first two Persona games are completely different though. I also enjoy the SMT titles I've downloaded the first DDS but I haven't gone back after I played the first few hours but I'll play it again later.

Just to go back on the talk of Wild Arms & Suikoden. I personally wish they'd add the later Wild Arms and Suikoden games of the franchise on PSN. I never got to play Wild Arms: Alter Code F, and I probably never finished any of the other later titles completely same could be said of Suikoden even though I got to the end of some of them or really close. I'd also love to see the Shadow Hearts games end up on there but I probably won't ever see titles like that without a PS2. Outside of combat the first two titles in the Wild Arms franchise look pretty good.

Othello also happens to be one fun game.

Still not even as close to as bad Dig Dug, especially as a gamer, though yeah I'd wager most people have heard of Othello even though they may not have played it.

Well, apparently it's Cross Play but I don't see it being Cross Buy.

As much as I would like to play Backgammon, I don't see me spending 2.00 for what was described in reviews as a vile cash grab and lipstick on a pig.

Man, you have good taste in RPGs.
I loved the social links in P4G.
Every Suikoden I've played, I've felt compelled to get all 108 stars. Gotta catch em all.
I'd love to see Shadow Hearts again. Never got around to getting the third one.

I liked P4G a lot. I played on easy as I hate turn based combat and just wanted to blow through that and focus on the story etc. It took me a little over 62 hours. I didn't get all the trophies or max all the social links (did all but 3 or 4 I think). I did get the bounds Marie dungeon and the true ending. Only thing I looked up in a guide was how to get those to make sure I didn't miss them. I went through dungeons twice to beat the strong shadow as well, other than the last couple dungeons as I was just ready to be done with the game by that point.

So bought. Meant to buy this the week it came out but was short on cash that week.

Anyone know about this 'bullion'? Why would backgammon have IAP? Odd.

Backgammon is my favorite non-pc/console game.

Well, apparently it's Cross Play but I don't see it being Cross Buy.

As much as I would like to play Backgammon, I don't see me spending 2.00 for what was described in reviews as a vile cash grab and lipstick on a pig.

But thanks Frisky for the info.
I just read a couple reviews and all were quite positive.

For example:

"The game is split into two main versions, classic and Blitz. The classic mode is pure Backgammon, nothing more nothing less. If you like Backgammon, then you will love this, it is a perfect recreation of a classic game. It doesn’t want to be anything different at all."

"Whilst Backgammon Blitz isn’t going to all of sudden bring the masses flooding to the game, it is a very faithful recreation and one that anyone with an interest in Backgammon will get plenty of joy from."

http://gamestyle.com/review/backgammon-blitz-review/

Anyone that would call a digital version of backgammon 'lipstick on a pig' sounds like they don't like backgammon to begin with, which would make their review about as valuable as a chess game review by someone who doesn't like or understand chess.

---

In addition to pure Backgammon, there's a mode called Blitz which uses powerups. You can buy powerups with bullion, which you earn throughout the game or you can buy extra via psn. From what I've read it's not required to purchase any, and none at all is required for any classic backgammon (which is what i'd primarily be playing).

umm how the hell do you browse the free games on PS+ now? You used to.. you know, go to the PS+>Free games section and it would show you the games you have. Well now that page only shows 2 or 3 games and then has like 3 tabs for adds saying to subscribe to PS+. Even though i have it through 2025, its still just trying to get me to sub for some reason. The far right tab used to let you browse the free games, but its gone now and replaced with just another stupid ad

What gives? I used to only purchase/d.load stuff when it was under the expiring soon tab if it was something i wasn't that into. But it was nice being able to browse the free PS+ games. Please dont tell me they have deleted all the free games without warning.

Is the PS Vita store being wonky for anyone else? For one thing, I can't find Child of Light on the store even though I'm pretty sure it was added to the store for the Vita last week. Secondly, prices won't load for anything til I open them, but then if I hit the back button, the price will be there.
