Should I want to play FEZ for free even if Phil Fish is a total douche bag? Part of me feels bad even supporting him that much. Thoughts?

Are you crazy? That version is horrible. It's on par with the PS1 Chrono Trigger for worst port of an awesome game.

 
is there an official blog post yet? i don't see it, and i like seeing the 'final' sales post. if i'm just blind, a link would be appreciated.

i think i've heard the translation is massively superior. but slow spell animations or something? plenty of people seem to have strong, but differing, opinions on which is better.

Yes, the translation was better and they added...Balthier, I think. However, there was really bad slow down/lag and the sound was completely out of sync. So content wise, it is better, but actually playing it was worse.

There is some slow-down when casting spells but, in a strategy RPG, who cares? It doesn't screw up the game play since it is a turn-based game. The translation on the War of the Lion version is a million times better than the original. It isn't even close. The original reads like it was written by a five year old whereas the War of the Lion version is in a quasi-Old English. Not to mention the widescreen looks great.

I can't pull the trigger on any of these squaresoft games. Mainly because I own them all already on ps1 and the prices seem 'meh' TBH. After 4 final fantasy games it's already $20 plus tax... Talk about adding up quick. I can see the appeal however if you own a vita or psp, but I personally wouldn't want to play a huge game like an rpg on the go. Enjoy whoever picks em up though :)

I would even go so far as to say the translation was worse in the war of the lions. They cleaned up some plot holes and miss-referenced characters, but I'd rather be slightly confused than have to deal with ye olde Shakespearean English for a hundred hours. That nonsense coupled with the awful slowdown and fourth-wall breaking features that were tacked on, I'd stay far away from the psp version.

 
I'm not sure what to do with FFX/X-2 on sale for $19.99--I ordered their import Vita versions online 2-3 months ago so I could have physical copies of both games (plus better cover art IMO), but FFX-2 hasn't arrived yet (long story) and I just got FFX last Friday. At this point, I'll probably get a refund for FFX-2, but I'll have paid ~$27 for just FFX with better box art vs. $19.99 for both games in digital format through this PSN sale.

once you have a vita for huge jrpgs, it's nearly impossible to play them on the tv. it's perfect for them.

can't agree there. i struggle with the 1st grader jrpg translations to the point i usually skip reading it. the reworked dialog is actually solid from what i've seen, though i need to go back and beat it.

JRPGs were never able to keep my attention until I got my Vita. The ability to press the "PS" button or put the device to sleep and then immediately jump back to where I left off really helped me and my short attention span. It also helped with long xp grinding.

The ability to take em on vacation like I did last week, or just play an hour or so at a time in bed also was a huge selling point.

In other words, I agree with you all the way.

 
I didn't realize half the games we got today were cross-buy. Awesome stuff, man, as Proteus surely would have been ignored by me had there not been a vita version.

Hopefully we get some cross-save love, too. Speaking of which, I haven't been able to get Mutant Mudds cross-save to work.

Dragons Crown isn't cross buy, make sure to buy it on both systems.
 
How is Front Mission 3 when played on a vita, does anyone know? I remember with using popsloader on my psp that was one of the games that always crashed no matter what.

Is dragons crown cross save?  can one play w vita and ps3 on multiplayer or needs to be both PS3?  Since I read that the damn game makes you pass like 5 hrs before giving you the option of having human companions this is something that would make me decide to play one over the other one first.

They usually iron out those sorts of bugs before releasing PS1 games on the PS Store. FM3 wouldn't be on the Vita's PS Store either if it had issues.

 
Man I *JUST* about bought Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP version) for $9.99 last night.  And I've been mulling over FFX too.  Glad to have waited.

 
I now own every Final Fantasy game digitally (Up t0 X-2, that is)  Eventually I need to get a 64gb Memory card for my Vita.

I'm tempted by the $2.99 Game of Thrones game. Reviews aren't that good but at 3 bucks, I've spent more for worse.

Yeah, it's cross-save. You can move your saves between the vita and the ps3 without too much hassle, really.

Yes it's cross save and cross multiplayer though you do have to be after a certain point in the game.

Finally got FF4 Complete and also Front Mission 3 which I never got to play. Lots of decent looking PS+ titles this month too can't wait to play the indies and also Crysis 3.

It supports Cross Save and Cross Play, so you can play wherever with whoever you want.

Whooo! FF8 is one of my favorite games. ( I know people would disagree and I can see why). I am so pumped!

while they've never publicly committed to it, i'm guessing it's going to be in the first 'big' update. probably later this year, if i had to guess. they want people buying games.

i think the reason they left ps1/ps2 psn classic BC off at launch is twofold:

1) you don't want a lot of features at launch -- feature bloated firmware increases chances of critical failure... better to wait and release updates after proper QA, and only focus on mission critical features.

2) they didn't want to drown out early ps4 releases with a 'full' store. it makes a bit of sense to let the ps4 games shine for a year or so, then surprise everybody with a nice firmware update.

I bet we get it later this year, but I could [easily] be wrong. I'm talking psn store ps1/ps2 games... ps1 discs are less likely, though still possible.

I think $5 is pretty solid. I mean, $20 for 4 FF games would last you a very, very long time. If you're just adding to backlog, sure, it adds up.

I'm currently debating picking up the few FF i'm missing digitally... i think some of these are the lowest they've been.

why the heck are ff3 and ff4 $10 and not $5?

i've already got v, vi, ix, and fftwotl.

that means i'm debating on the other $5 games --  origins (1/2), vii, vii.  

I guess those $3 plus Front Mission 3 for under $20 is worth it.   Though it's going to cause a crisis since now I'm going to have to add them all to my FF page on my vita, and my 64g is already long full.  I hate deleting unplayed games with a passion.

I also wish they'd just clearance Crystal Defenders for $2 or so.

They're $20 normally and they're not PS1 games like the rest.

 
I know when you buy FF X/X-2 it's for both games but can I choose to download just one of them at a time since I only have a 16 GB memory card and don't want the majority taken up by both games if I'm only going to be playing one at a time?

Yes, they show up as separate games on your download list.
