Played Proteus and Metrico back to back. And I feel much closer to god. People don't seem to realize that all these 8-bit indie ports are actually conduits to greater enlightenment. So, thank you, Sony.

Also, I chose the female character at the beginning of Metrico. Didn't realize those outlines designated gender and instead read too deeply into it, lol. So now I'm playing as a chick and it's annoying but I refuse to restart.

The Hohokum soundtrack is free to listen.
The Pre-order for the soundtrack looks pretty sweet. I mean the one that includes both the digital download as well as the clear vinyl:

Packaging Details:

  • Limited rainbow-spotted clear vinyl, standard weight
  • Vinyl is protected in a full color art sleeve and inserted in to a 2 panel art jacket
  • Designed by Richard Hogg

Having trouble deciding which FF games to get. Only played FFX so far. Any suggestions? Not looking to buy more than about 3

my impressions of fez so far are

.its relaxing
.its pixilated graphcs fit this game perfectly
.the whole level being a puzzle is cool
.keeping track of the collectibles in each world is easy

btw to get the negative cubes i suggest a guide lol. fun game :)

JRPGs were never able to keep my attention until I got my Vita. The ability to press the "PS" button or put the device to sleep and then immediately jump back to where I left off really helped me and my short attention span. It also helped with long xp grinding.

The ability to take em on vacation like I did last week, or just play an hour or so at a time in bed also was a huge selling point.

In other words, I agree with you all the way.
I'm in the same boat. I no longer have 10 hour gaming days to play JRPG's like I did as a kid. Most of my gaming is lying down in bed or even in the washroom, which I'll admit freely. Don't have alot of time with work, family anf kids nowadays. I should've bought a PS Vita eons ago over IOS gaming. The Vita has me hooked for JRPG goodness.

Is FFVIII worth it? Or would anyone recommend it? I bought VII years ago.
FFVIII has mixed reactions by alot of people. If you've played FF II and didn't mind the gameplay and game mechanics than FF VIII will be fun, if not, then don't bother. Its not your traditional FF where you level up and learn more powerful skills and spells, if thats what you're asking.

Here's a stupid question. I guess i'm a bit of a dumb dumb because I can not figure out where the sales are when I turn on the PS3. I literally couldn't find the Square Enix Sales. I've had this problem before during other sales. I have to use the search function to type it in. Where do I go to see all of the sales?

Question: I'm thinking of purchasing FF Origins for my PS3 but how's the loading times? I recalled it (including ff chronciles and anthology) was horrible on the PS1.

PSN tab > PlayStation Store > Games > Discounts > On Sale Now (scroll to the right at the end is has 'all deals' '-50%' '-30%' 'ps+ discounts' 'other deals'

the 'main promos' are on banners on the way to the end of that list, or scroll down the list when you see the "On Sale Now" at the top of the pile. Square Enix Sale is 4th down from that "On Sale Now" on the right side.

I don't think there's a banner in the PSN store for PS3/PS Vita showing whats on sale by SE. The SE sale came via rhe webstore advertisement link showing games on sale with a list of games on sale. You should type Final Fantasy in search and shows all games at 5.99 to 9.99

Edit: seems there was a banner. My mistake. Still can't go wrong with cheap FF games now :)

Thanks for the info.

That's why I find it's much easier to just do all my shopping on the website instead. Then anything I buy that I want to play soon I can add it to the download queue from the PC so that it starts downloading next time I boot up that system. I haven't been on the PS3 store in months.

So I rented Dragon's Crown over the holidays last year and got about two hours in (lvl 6). Now I haven't the slightest clue what I'm supposed to do. I know the game's combat isn't incredibly nuanced but I still hate when this happens. Feels like I'm not playing properly. Debating starting over but I don't want to sit through the tutorials and story again. I have to stop doing this.

I know it didn't get good reviews, but is Game of Thrones worth $2.99?
From everything I've heard, it's not worth it lol. Haven't played myself, but I'm a fan of the series. I was even tempted at $5 but got talked out of it. Maybe someone else here can offer a redeeming opinion.

One of the top two in the series, imo (that and IX). It has a non-cliched setting, a great soundtrack, and one of the best battle systems. Some people are turned off by the battle system because they think it's "too complex," but it's really not that complex-- it's just deeper than the generic ones found in VI and VII, which is what makes it fun. It also has a fun card minigame and the most memorable sidequests of the series.

The main criticism that pops up is that the summoning animations are long, sometimes being close to a minute long. I've heard you can skip them in the Steam version, so that's worth considering if that type of thing could bug you. On the other hand, summoning isn't something you'd want to do too often, and summon times give you the opportunity to boost your attack by pressing Square instead of just watching the animation, so it's not as huge a problem as some people make it seem.

In the end, it's one of the most innovative and least cliched entries in the series. It broke a lot of new ground, which is what I like in my RPGs, but that's also why the outspoken VI- and VII-obsessed crowd doesn't tend to like it.

I have all the classic Final Fantasy titles already from a previous sale so I think I'll pick up Front Mission 3 since I remember enjoying 4 on PS2 way, way back.

I think I'll hold off on picking up the X/X-2 remake till they're at that $10 spot which I believe will happen before the end of the year via Gamefly sale or something similar.

It's good if you're into the lore and the book/movie series. The story is pretty darn good really. The gameplay on the other hand is lacking. Id compare it to Dragon Age Origins...without the polish.

It's a beat-em-up. How do you get lost in a beat-em-up? There's a ticker on the bottom of the screen in town that even tells you exactly what you're supposed to do and it's usually narrated. Otherwise, go the Adventurer's Guild and grab some quests.

Doesnt the narrator have a banner on the bottom of the screen telling you what you need to do when you're in town???

I know many of the  FF games look like crap on the vita  (Full screen)    Anyone play FF 7 or 8 yet on full screen do they look like crap as well

Its just too bad the 64 GB card is not out here for around 50 bucks.  I would grab both

I decided to get the Sports Champions games since I need something to justify my PS Move purchase other than rail shooters (which are really fun with a gun attachment).

LoL, it's not that I don't know where to go. I just forgot the little things like which attacks work best against certain enemies, what buffs to equip, who to bring in my party etc. I'm not far enough where restarting would be too big a hassle, just not sure I want to. You're probably right though...a few minutes with it might bring me back up to speed.

I do. At least X is resellable if I want.

Never played a FF or Chrono game. I know VII is like the holy grail. Any recommendations between the two series?
I found at least half of the Final Fantasy games "better" than VII. VII is mostly considered the greatest thing ever because it was the first one released on the PS1, making it the introduction to the series for a lot of people. From this sale, IV, VI, and IX are definitely better than VII, so I'd recommend them. X is, as well, but it's more expensive. Tactics is great, but it sounds like the PSP version would be the one to go with (if that's an option). Both Chrono games are great, but most people prefer Trigger.

You could probably wing it. I used to hoard all my skill points because I was afraid of investing them in a skill I wouldn't like and so I only had one or two equipped. All the skills are pretty useful and depend on your playstyle. Once you beat the game on normal, you can create new characters starting at lvl. 15 and skip the introductory crap.

The only thing I need less than more backlog is more vinyl but this is tempting. I'm going to try and find out how many vinyls they pressed and f its in the low hundreds I'll bite.

Just caved and bought FF 1&2, 6, 8, and 9.  Already had 5, 7, 10, 10-2, and Tactics: War of the Lions.

I'm sure my OCD will hold a gun to my head before the end of the sale and force me to bite on 3 and 4.

I agree with what others were posting:  JRPGs on Vita rock!

Dont, FF III was horrible! It's probably my least favorite of the entire series.

Old games with upgraded graphics, 2-4 games in the bundle, trophy support, and (in SE's case) additional content that never made it to certain parts of the world is a damn good deal.
I wouldn't call it "upgraded" graphics. They were just polished. Trophy support and the additional content is cool, but not a deal breaker. I didn't understand what you mean by 4 games bundle...

But, what I meant is that 20 bucks for this bundle is a good price. 40 bucks for it is way too expensive IMO.

Still, seeing this deal actually made me want to replay those games

I am considering...

What no love for 4? FF4 looks amazing with the graphic updates.

Are the Persona games worth it at $5 a pop?  Would probably end up on my backlog unless they're "OMG play them now!" worthy.
