Gamescom had some interesting stuff (housemarq new game, dayz coming to ps4, rime, bloodborne etc) but there weren't any serious megatons (ie, no TLG, FFVII remake, or anything like that).    though my feed cut out several times during the reveal of features for the new OS update so I might have missed something cool.

It was a fantastic game on the PSP. Turn-based and used action points. Destructible environments. Cover. It was so much fun. I have no clue why it isn't available for the Vita.

 
Just finished watching Sony's Gamecon presentation.  There were a few gems that I am looking forward to, and they are Bloodborne (which looks like it'll be another fantastic game from From Software), and Far Cry 4.  I absolutely loved the story of Uncharted 3, so I don't mind visiting Shangri-La again.  

I was hoping to see some form of an announcement regarding hardware upgrade/fix for the PS4 controller, but Sony does tend to roll out these kind of fixes unannounced.  Here's hoping that the Destiny PS4 Bundle will have an updated controller so that the left thumb pad and the right trigger won't break so easily, because you are really going to need a hefty trigger/firing button on the most anticipated FPS game of the year.  

The Destiny new game mode trailer looks fantastic, and I do hope that those maps in the trailer really is accessible from "Day One" as stated during the presentation.  Other than that, it does look like Destiny will be capped at level 20 (which I'm a bit disappointed about), with the ability to further raise your level a bit more with rare armors.

I wasn't even aware this was an issue. My controllers seem fine, although I have already notice a slightly sticky circle or x button. It seems a little early for those to be wearing out, but not that bad.

I keep hoping for some sort of firmware update that allows Bluetooth controllers for things like Harmony remotes. That is literally the only thing preventing me from buying a 2nd PS4 and replacing my PS3 in one room. I'd probably even settle for a separate Sony brand PS4 remote at this point (although not ideal). I guess this wouldn't be a big conference-type announcement.

also that flashing white light between load screens will drive you insane

A few of them are pretty old, almost launch-window old, so i plan on doing some research in terms of what might most be worth getting. i'm in the same boat, haven't really played any. I seem to recall Vegas 2 being regarded as way better than Vegas 1. Also, I believe at least a handful of them have split-screen co-op, so that's something to consider.

I think I played all of the TC games on PS3 except the splinter cells. I really enjoyed all of them, but they definitely got better as the generation went on. Generally speaking, mildly tactical (breaching, limited squadmate commands, etc). All, to varying degrees, are certainly worth $5 and less though the ones released earliest in the gen will certainly feel that way -- if that bothers you, just skip them and grab the later ones.

Rainbow six is a bit more current day in terms of weaponry. Ghost Recon is futuristic, usually with advanced weaponry and tech based camouflage, etc.

If it means anything, if I was rolling in dough and time I'd pick them all up again and play through them for that price. But I'm not, so I won't.

 
Any commentary on the psp Clancy games? If I enjoyed all the PS3 ones should I just break down and get them?

I haven't met a psp game yet that doesn't look better on vita. Plus I'm generally not playing psp games for the graphics.

 
Darnit that the Namco DLC is still at regular price.

Looking at the sale, gonna have to buy a PS+ now, even if it's for 3 months.  I balked at $40 at first, since I couldn't think of the discounts to be as good as a Gamestop PUR. But now I've realized things do go half price. which should be ample.

Just did a quick calculation, if I'm going to buy the bigger games in this sale, might as well plunk that $18, and then wait until Black Friday.

DayZ, Papers Please, Nom Nom Galaxy, Snow, and QUBE 2 are some awesome indie announcements for PS4. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

Edit: Tearaway Unfolded looks great as a remake of the original with the DualShock 4's features in mind. Alienation looks like a cool spin-off of the Dead Nation idea with four player co-op.

Wild from Michel Ancel's new studio looked amazing. I'm glad that he doesn't have to deal with Ubisoft's crap anymore.

Soul Sacrifice Delta worth the $17.19? Really liked and got a plat when Soul Sacrifice was released for PS+ so trying to decide if it's worth the price or wait until a flash sale or a better price than 50% off.

I didn't play it or anything, just caught it on GAF a few minutes ago. But a really really awesome way to reveal a game.

First person to find it (online, anyway) was some chick streaming on Twitch who had 3 viewers at the time she finished the game. Now it's blowing up on NeoGAF and will be on all the video game sites shortly. Pretty awesome IMO.

ALIENATION is an all-new game from Housemarque and we see it in part as a spiritual successor to Dead Nation but clearly it is a lot more than a sequel.

2. Will there be a Dead Nation 2?
Right now we are focused entirely on ALIENATION and the next expansion for RESOGUN.

3. Why Aliens and not Zombies?
We still love Zombies but we also love Aliens, because from a creative standpoint it grants us even more artistic freedom to create cool enemies, weapons and so on. Having covered Zombies for Dead Nation a break from the Dead is good for us creatively.

4. How does it use PS4?
The engine is entirely new and having put our toes in the water with RESOGUN we already know a lot about what works really well on the GPU especially, and how to blow things up spectacularly. With our all new physical based rendering we will create great looking worlds and blow them up even more spectacularly!

5. Is it using tech from RES0GUN?
A few of the editing tools that we use are shared between both games but ALIENATION is actually using an all-new physically based rendering engine that is really quite different to the voxel engine we developed for RESOGUN.

Dead Nation had the same requirements and so while there is some similarity in that regard, the similarity ends there really because ALIENATION has lots more effects and variety than Dead Nation.

8. How is ALIENATION different to Dead Nation or Helldivers?
All of the games are fun but I can only really speak in detail about Dead Nation and ALIENATION because I don’t work directly with the guys making Helldivers.
In comparison to Dead Nation, the things I like most about ALIENATION are the fun and mayhem of 4 player multiplayer, the graphics, especially the destruction.

9. How is the game improved from Dead Nation?
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger and 4 player multiplayer!

10. How many players?
1-4, and we’re really excited about the 4 player multiplayer.

11. Will there be PvP?
Well, we’ve teased it in the trailer and we’re big fans of Dark Souls but that is all I have just now.

12. Where and when is the game set?
We’ll be revealing more details in the future on this so for now you’ll have to draw your own conclusions perhaps, based on the teaser!

13. When will it be released and how much will it cost?
Dates and price points will be announced in the future.

14. Will it be released on BLU-Ray?
Currently ALIENATION is a digital-only release, and there are no plans for a physical version

15. Did you / will you consider developing ALIENATION for PS Vita?
We are big fans of PS Vita, however, the technology we are using is quite specific to PS4. We wouldn’t rule it out, but have no plans currently.

14. What is SCEE/ XDev’s involvement in the project?
We see Sony XDev Studio Europe as our 'production partners' - they help us with all areas of development and have been extremely supportive during the game’s production. They provide brilliant feedback, and support on the game and really help us address the important issues by streamlining development whenever they can.[/customspoiler]

Alienation is listed in the press release as having a FY16 Q3 release window, which I think mean it's not out anytime soon.

Obligatory tangential comment that all of those games remind me of Steve Jackson's Ogre brought to life on Apple II in 1986 by the legendary Origin Systems (Ultima, etc.). Followed quickly by thoughts of all the great SSI games (Six Gun Shootout was always my fav).
