Really awesome price for the pirate warriors games.

Was wanting to pick up the second game so this is one of the better sales they've had in quite awhile for me. Would have been even better if I would had waited on Tales of Symphonia instead of buying it on sale for $10 and never even playing it yet. Same for Persona 3 Fes.

Still, great sale this week.

That P.T. demo/game turned out to be
a new Silent Hill game from Kojima and Guiellermo Del Toro
I'm not a big fan of Kojima anymore, but I'm totally on board with the next Silent Hill having a new lead with a distinctive style. I think we can reasonably expect him to take the series in a new direction. This should be the start of a trend: Assign each Silent Hill sequel to a different team or studio and free it from the chains of continuity. It worked (for the most part) in Shattered Memories.

There's no future in the series if it just dutifully repeats the same lore and same aesthetic and same "rust world" mechanism.

Anyone have an issue with Persona 3 PSP not showing up in Vita PSN store? They used to appear under the S's (SMT), but last 2 weeks, only the PSOne game Persona 2 is there. That & P4G show up with a search, but that's it. Weird. To buy P3 PSP, I had to buy online, now I hope it will be under transactions. Anyone else have this issue?

Welp, just threw $50 to get the Robotech DVD set from Amazon along with book 1-3. I didn't even know there were Robotech novels. For a little bit I was considering buying all of them at once, but that would quadruple my reading pile.

Man, it was so much easier when I was growing up and didn't have a disposable income . . .
Most of the first set of Robotech novels are a retelling of the series itself, with additional exposition explaining the changes they made to the lore of that universe.

There were original novels as well that sort of serve as a sequel. I liked them as a kid, but I couldn't tell you if they actually hold up.

I just had an absolute blast with P.T. although it did give me some of the biggest scares that gaming has ever provided (including Outlast). Definitely excited to see what Kojima and DelTorro do together.

I think I remember reading a bunch of Atlus games got temporarily delisted for Vita. It's probably just a burp in the system and will be fixed in [some amount of time probably measured in weeks]. I'm sure they'll be back, Atlus is on top of stuff like that.

I noticed this last night. I think it's some kind of piracy prevention measure. I hope they come back.

Sure, THAT's an exclusive, but Rise of the Tomb Raider: <Bizarre Subtitle> , a completely "new" game, will probably come out multiplatform in a year, like Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Even Mass Effect 1 which was tangled up with Microsoft funding eventually found its way to a Sony platform.
This was on my "buy list". reboot was great and loved it, now i prolly just gonna rent it in 2016 and leave SE wondering where the $$$ went. Will likely be playing uncharted MP anyways.

I don't have access to Tumblr, but this SE employee tweet leading to it sounds definitive:

Never really played any Tom Clancy games. What are the must haves either PS3 or PSP?
I like them on PS3 or Xbox, but were any of the PSP worth playing? I like a lot of TC but Chaos Theory & Blacklist MP are high on my all-time fun games. They might not be super polished but it's super fun.

Soul Sacrifice Delta sale is an unexpected surprise. Tempted to pull the trigger, but I'm working on TLOU Remastered now and don't know if it's worth $17 to go into a backlog. It'd be a sure thing if I'd be starting immediately.

Anyone who has it? How much better/different is it than the base game? I got the SS plat. Keep hearing that the friendly AI in Delta is way better, which could make it worth playing during the commute. The original's AI was so bad that the DLC fiends were unfun outside of multiplayer.

didnt.the.trailor say ”exclusive to xbox for holiday 2015” or something of the sort ? (thats what i read online anyway). if so than its surely timed. timed exclusive dlc/games from 3rd party publishers is a lame practice and it needs to stop period.

@josh,thought I'd throw my 2 cents in on Dragons crown; only reason I have for playing it on the PS3 is because I usually play the elf. She moves around so quickly I tend to lose track of her on the screen. When I'm doing command grabs with the dwarf it's usually on the Vita.

Problem is it's never going to go away unless Microsoft and Sony come together and agree not to pay for it. I believe these publishers love to have 2 or more parties bidding up the cost of exclusivity as it's free money in their pocket. it's probably the sole reason EA is still backing the Xbox even though they have half the installed base of Sony.

You mean Tales of Backlogia.

It's not "free" money for 3rd party publishers since they are giving up potential sales for the console that gets excluded, however, it is guaranteed money which seems pretty important right now since game sales are so hit or miss, apparently. Timed exclusives have to be the most obvious win for 3rd party publishers since they get cash or incentives up front and still get to sell to both console audiences.

Aight, so I bought Splinter Cell Blacklist (and Ghost Recon Future Soldier which looked cool). Never played a SC game before though. Skipped the series on PS2.

Is it alright to start with Blacklist or should I at least get Conviction on the 360 first?

Even though the SC trilogy is cheap, I keep readin' it's glitchy as hell. Chaos Theory is also from what I read, one of the best SC games in the series.

Any SC heads out there that have any suggestions?

Word of warning to anyone interested in Battle of Z:  Don't.  Just don't.  I know it only has a 50 on Metacritic but even that is too kind.... this game may have trumped Twisted Metal and ZombiU as the most broken, non-functional game I've played this gen.

What looks cool on video is laughably dull and simplistic.... especially the AI which is broken, they barely respond to your commands, always refuse to heal you, and constantly get their asses kicked like an arthritic button masher who refuses to learn how to block.  Considering the online is broken and you HAVE to have the most powerful characters to even start to compete, going through the single player is a must, but it's an abysmal experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Online multiplayer isn't much better.  At this point the online is pretty much dead...... It makes graveyards like Bioshock 2 look like the latest CoD in comparison.  Even before it's death though, it still sucked.   As I said earlier, the balancing is practically non-existent, and if you use anything other than a character's final form, or something with "Buu" or "Beerus" in the name you will be slaughtered no matter what stat enhancers you equip.  Even before it died, matchmaking was a joke and seemed completely random with teams of newbies often being paired against veterans.  And don't even get me started on the issues with lag and connectivity.  I don't know if I'd say this netcode is worse than Twisted Metal's, but if not it's very close.

And of course there's no local multiplayer at all.

Anyways that's my rant, I know I saw one or two of you praising the game last time PS+ had it on sale, but I guess there's a reason this game's price has fallen like a rock since it's release in February.  It's an abysmal experience both online and off.  I can't even bring myself to completing it...... with me, that's saying a lot.  In hindsight I wouldn't even take it for free, it's not worth the space it occupies on my shelf, and sure as hell isn't worth the memory it occupies on a PS3.

I'm not a expert on the series but Blacklist is the first one I've ever played & beat. I enjoyed the game so much I went back and played & finished Conviction on the 360 as well. The stories are quite different along with a completely different voice actor for Sam Fisher.

Both were awesomely fun games though.

Would it kill them to just port over DB: Burst Limit? Thanks for the heads up I am now going to rethink if I should even buy this game.

-Plus has been lacking lately. The only free games we get now are old ports and mediocre puzzle games; no noteworthy discounts on previous releases

- Hohokum (Ho-Ho-Cum) is pretty damn cool. very unique. play it stoned.

- lol GoT is $3 and I still wouldnt touch that with a 10 ft pole

I haven't played the HD remakes, but I enjoyed them all on PS2. I can't speak on how glitchy they may be.

Yes, Chaos Theory remains the best in the series. So freaking good. Beat it twice. Pandora Tomorrow is probably my second favorite. Double Agent is the worst.

Do you have to play Conviction before Blacklist? Not necessarily - it'll catch you up. Obviously certain plot points are spoiled if you skip it, though.

I'm still sticking with Budokai Tenkaichi 3 myself. But glad I could help even one person avoid the trap I fell into lol.

If you're planning to play the original trilogy, I would recommend that you do that before you play Conviction or Blacklist. If you play the latter first, I think that you're going to have a hard time adjusting to the controls of the former.

I love old-school Splinter Cell, but I have to say that the original control scheme is antiquated and sluggish. It feels like remote controlling a humanoid robot.

So, Saints Row 2 gets the permanent price drop, but neither the Ultimate Edition, nor the DLCs individually, got the same treatment.

WTF?

This is very true. While I think the earlier games have better plots and a stronger stealth emphasis, the gameplay improvements can't be overstated. It even seems a lot of Ubi games (Watch Dogs, G. Recon) are built on things first introduced in Conviction.

I don't think that's anything new. Don't games like ACIII go for $20 digitally now, with DLC that's still $10 apiece?

Thanks for replies about Splinter Cell.

I'm goin' hold off on playin' Blacklist and try the Conviction demo before decidin' to buy.

As far as the trilogy, I'm leanin' towards gettin' it despite the negatives. If I do, I'll definitely play through that first before touchin' Blacklist and Conviction.

Gonna skip Double Agent altogether.

It's not as bad as you are making it seem. I have put a good 20+hours on Battle of Z and it was a surprisingly fun game. The AI is a lot better once you level them up to level 10. The competitive Multiplayer is dead but that was crap the most important mode is Coop and that is still alive and you always get a full team. And of course the final forms of characters are strong they are supposed to,can anyone really picture Krillin destroying Legendary Super Saiyan Broly?

Opinions I guess, but I really think it's that bad. There's nothing worse than when I am doing fairly well in a fight while my AI partners continuously die, eating up all my lives. Of course they barely ever heal so I constantly have to play medic, but I can't even do that properly because everyone keeps dying and I can't keep the opponents off my back. Then of course the game automatically ends when one of them dies with no lives left, and through no fault of my own it's game over. The few times they do avoid getting obliterated I still lose because of that idiotic 10 minute limit on each match. That was the common theme throughout most of my single player experience (after Cell anyway). Leveling them up to 10 seems to help a bit in that they'll now heal me like 1/10 of the time rather than ignoring me completely, but they still get their asses kicked way too easily and cost me too many fights. I am aware I can grind their experience and grind for more cards, but I shouldn't have to and more importantly don't want to. The game is just not that fun.

As for the characters...... this is a fighter. How fun would Injustice be if Superman killed Batman with one punch every time? Same concept here. Krillin is a healer/interference, so I don't necessarily expect him to be able to beat a powerhouse like Brolly one on one, but yes I expect him to survive past a combo or two, and I'd like to be able to use him in a team without it costing me the match simply because he can't take a hit. I'd like to use my favorites over being forced to chose from nothing but super saiyans and the final forms of the bosses. I have a special fondness for Android 19 and Piccolo, but both are practically worthless online..... that can be said for the majority of the roster. Hell, they are worthless in most of the offline missions unless you max them out with cards. IMO balancing shouldn't be neglected just because, in the "canon" (and remember, this is DBZ, so I use the term canon loosely) Super Broly could knock Krillin's head off with one punch.

I don't know what to tell you about the matchmaking, I've found the co-op to be pretty much dead too. Yes, it's not as dead as the online battle modes, but at the very best I'd say it's on it's final legs. Considering this game is barely 6 months old, I doubt it's gonna even gonna have that for much longer.

If the online was functioning better and the game didn't force you to go through that abysmal single player experience in order to stand a chance online, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But neither is the case. The game does have some unique and interesting concepts, I'll give it that. And on the very, VERY rare occasions when you get on online match with people of equal skill who know what they are doing, and the lag doesn't get in the way, there is some fun to squeeze out of the game. But it's just not worth the effort.

I bought DBZ: Battle of Z on Vita, I don't think it's that bad so far.
I haven't touched it on Vita so I don't know what, if anything, is different.

Do you suppose that they're going to give Reedus's character some facial animations, or is he going to have Daryl face for the whole game?
Lol. Yeah I've only seen a screen shot, but I rolled my eyes at how it looks like he just walked off the set of the walking dead. The disheveled long hair look makes sense in a zombie apocalypse, but looks stupid in just about any other context.

I never expected the DLCs to drop, but "ultimate editions" usually have a price drop.

I don't have any of SR2, so unlike my situation with Skyrim, I should be able to take advantage of getting in late.

Right now, the base + DLCs is only $2 more than the Ultimate Edition. There's no reason to offer an ultimate edition at this point.

I'll apologize now if my question has already been answered in the forums (I don't have time to go through the forum to see), but how do I get the Naruto PSP game on my Vita? Does any one have a suggestion for a Vita case for the newer models? Thanks
A thick wool sock, for now.

Download it to PS3 then transfer it to your Vita.

According to this thread some games can be downloaded to a ps3 and transfered to a vita I guess by usb. However, the thread marks Naruto as untested so do so at the risk that it won't work.
