This thread has me feeling all like...

Affa said he blocked you, and you said that was immature. Not sayin' anything though, jus' sayin... :whistle2:
No, I couldn't care less. It's immature for him to bring it up, though, and he's done it with others as well. If you're so-called ignoring people do that and shut up about it. Dude is damn near twice my age acting like a child.

one of these days i really need to get a  64GB card and then i can stop  bitching about  the games that come out.  I will play any crap its just with a 32gb card if its crap it means i need to find space for it, download it , play it for an hour and delete it.   Not worth my time  :)

Where do I say I wasn't allowed to express my opinion? Where is that? Point it out. I said that telling people PS+ games are "free" or that we should appreciate them because "indie developers work hard" doesn't have any place in the discussion. Irrelevant shit.

All this could have been avoided had you not interpreted that as me saying my mind couldn't be changed about the games. You then implied it was a way to incite an argument. You were mistaken.
You keep saying things like "It should be okay for people to disagree about next month's selection" and "So, again, it's completely fair of me to say next month's selection is disappointing" because either you're saying the most obvious thing in the world or you're suggesting that I or others are keeping you from expressing your opinions.

I'll make this nice and clear, I'm done discussing this subject because you're acting like a brick wall that has yet to realize that it's a brick wall. I was done before, but I made the really dumb move by letting you bait me into rejoining this dumb discussion, so I'm out for good. If you wish to discuss it further, don't. Let it die so that we can move on, that is if you were actually sincere when you apologized for derailing the thread. I won't hesitate to PM a mod to clean up this thread.

Is Child of Light PS Vita really that much worse than it would be on a PS3?
I have it on PS4 so what I said last night wasn't a first hand impression. What I gathered from others who have it on vita is that it plays fine with occasional stuttering. The lighting and background art apparently took a tiny hit. It still runs at 60fps and native res so I don't think it's that big of a deal, honestly. Plus the vita version comes with all the DLC. I was going to link you the demo but I can't find it on the store.

So I picked up a 40GB PS3 that doesn't read games( was aware when I bought it ). Was only $50, came with DS3 controller. Using for digital games. Will get a bigger HDD eventually.

Looking in the PSN store, everything I'm interested seems a bit expensive. Will we see better sales later this year?

You might have to post a list since there's no guarantee that every game will go on sale at some point.

Friski posted in the "What's in the PlayStation Store" thread a month or two ago that there was a PS Vita Child of Light Demo. I have been unable to find it since that time. I occasionally check but never have any luck. It's actually kind of hard to even find Child of Light in the PS Vita store.

Costume Quest 2 is listed as having an October 7th release date on Steam and Wii U eShop, which would lead me to believe that it'll also be out then on PS3 and PS4.

I had that problem yesterday, but if you just put "child of light" in the search bar it shows right up ha

TxK is amazing. Velocity is amazing.
TxK was a day 1 purchase for me, loved Tempest back in the day, and TxK is a fantastic modern version, perfectly designed for the Vita. We were very lucky that Jeff Minter decided to work on this remake, it absolutely looks and plays fantastic on the Vita (especially on the OLED screen).

Haven't played Velocity yet, but looking forward to it.

Did you try Gravity Crash Ultra? Another vector-like, arcade style shooter, a remake of the original Gravity Crash, and they apparently fixed some of the control issues from the original. Great little game!

I played Tempest back in the arcade. It was clearly a great game, and certainly was recognized as such, but never quite clicked for me as a quarter eater because it was quite difficult. I much preferred games like Robotron that I could play for far longer periods. (I'm sure if I fed it enough quarters i'd have gotten good at it, but I wasn't made of quarters).

So having a fully evolved, drastically improved, beautiful exclusive game on my favorite little handheld? Bliss. Just like having Defender redefined as Resogun is bliss. And Asteroids as Super Stardust / Delta, actually. I dream of a modern take on Robotron.

Velocity is a very interesting game. It almost begs to be defined as a schmup, but really... it isn't. It has lots of 'caverns/tunnels' that you need to dodge (just like in side scrollers) which is normally something I'd dislike, but the teleport dynamic really just changes the entire ballgame. I love the 'puzzle' focused levels, though the combat ones tended to be too easy for me, and the time trials were just hard enough to ensure only solid players got through. All in all, it's an excellent game that actually came up with new gameplay mechanics that work... not an easy thing to do in 2014. I also love the depth of the game -- all those little hidden (and fun!) minigames, for example. I am very excited for the sequel. It's clear, like Housemarq (and Minter), that they're an extremely talented dev house that understands how to craft a solid game.

(it's also why I'm so excited for Son of Scoregasm on vita. Charlie of Charlie's Games crafts such amazing dual stick shooters...)

I think I have Gravity Crush on PS3. I honestly can't remember if I loved it or hated it. 'Gravity vs. fuel' mechanics have never been my favorite genre though (I don't mind gravity/thrust effects like luftrausers, i just don't like having to also deal with fuel concerns that make me wary to thrust). I do love the visuals and will likely pick it up first sale because I actually think i remember enjoying it.

To be fair, Peggle was a great game, though I only played it on pc.   Will be buying this one once it's $10 or less.

So excited about Costume Quest 2. I won't complain about no discount for that game.

I won't worry about it maybe being free.  October is the one big month that they can sell it

So after all the various comments (thanks, all!) I think I can hold off on both Strike Suit Zero and Fusion Trials at least till the next, slightly better, sale.

Grabbed Dangarangaroo already.  Picking up Transistor for sure.  Debating on Bit.Trip. Runner 2 vita (have it on ps3 through plus, but it's more a vita game for me).... just not sure if it's worth $5 given I already have it.

What do you guys generally think about picking up ps1/psp games 'full price'?  I always want to wait for a sale, but they seem so sporadic and focused that i'll never get a sale on what I want  (thinking stuff like the Arc the Lad games and Alundra, to be specific).

Then again, every time I buy  one of these full price because I'm sure it'll never go on sale (both Z.H.P Unlosing Ranger and Gladiator Begins, for example) they've gone on sale within a month or two after my buy.  [So if any of you guys want Arc to go on sale, convince me to buy now I guess.]

I haven't touched Velocity or Velocity Ultra yet. Should I start with one of these or does 2X make them obsolete?
Velocity Ultra basically makes Velocity obsolete. It's vita native rather than a psp mini, so better controls, visuals, etc. I plat'd the game using touch teleport and used the right analog for throwing bombs, though others preferred original controls, so play around with it.

Velocity Ultra is definitely -not- obsolete. It's a fantastic game.

Velocity 2x gameplay vid makes it look like it's been expanded greatly. In addition to refinements to the general gameplay, they've added complex bosses and, more strikingly, 'on foot' segments (if i understand the vids correctly, you even sometimes dock with a boss and enter it on foot).

TLDR version --

play Velocity Ultra this week.

play Velocity 2x next month. Next week, even, unless you're burnt out and need a break.

I'd definitely play Ultra first -- not because of any sort of continuity/story issues, but just because it's worth appreciating now and going 'backwards' might make it harder to appreciate due to the sequel's improvements.

Anyone recommend a good 2 player game (offline) I can try on PSN for less than 10 dollars?   My brother is visiting this week, wanted to play a new game with him.

If you're looking to pick up an entire series, then buy just one to trigger the sale a month later and get the rest when that sale happens.

Assuming ps3? Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a fantastic coop experience. It's nothing like the other Tomb Raiders, built from the ground up to be a sort of coop experience. It's basically a top down dual stick shooter with great weapon variety, skillfully designed 'challenge rooms' (tombs) with cool puzzles to solve, and various challenges on each level for replay value. The only issue is it's $15 not $10... but I think it's worth the extra fin. The tomb puzzles in particular were fun to solve together with another person.

Hoarde, free with plus next week, is also one of the better psn coop games of the gen. You're both dragons, flying around a map destroying knights and forcing villages to give you gold, etc. True coop and vs. modes. Lots of strategic depth compared to most console games. While 'action' based in terms of mechanics, it's not as arcadey as it might sound... not as slow paced as a rts game either, somewhere in the middle. Pretty easy to pickup.

If you're talking PS4, I imagine Crimsonland would be a great coop experience. It's great single player, but it's built for up to 4 players. It's a dual stick shooter, so just pure arcade action, really.

After debating all week I decided to go with Trials , First Light and Strike suit. I played a little of both and am pleased with my purchases, the $5 Kongregate helped. I'm really liking the perks Ps+ comes with and I appreciate this thread because I would've missed so many great sales to feed my addiction!

Hmmm. Looks more like Smash TV and Total Carnage, but those were two of my favorite coinops anyway so thanks for the heads up! Have you played it? Solid gameplay?
oh, I'm hoping you're being sarcastic. If you're being serious about being interested then I feel bad that I was joking.

Cash Guns Chaos is so horrible and cheap and really horrible and just bad. It was a game to buy back when we had no games on PSN. Like a 4/10 on IGN and Gamespot. You must know this.

Frisky and I tried to hash it out over PM. Wish I could quote it, but I won't. What I will say is that the pronoun 'you' is used to refer to people in GENERAL. Finding it hard to believe he was confused by this, but I'll leave it alone.

I stand by my point. Indie developers do not need/want our sympathy. Their games should not be given special consideration. Transistor, which cost a 1/3 of every retail PS4 game I've played, is one of my favorite releases this year. Sublime experience and worth the current sale price. Doesn't matter that it was developed by a small team. As such, when discussing the quality of PS+ titles here, it serves no purpose for people to classify them as "indie". It's a lazy fucking argument. A game is just a game. Some are good, some are bad. And none can possibly interest everyone. My last post about this.

If anyone is interested in learning more about indie development, you should check out the documentary Indie Game. It's on Netflix, but I also have a free Steam copy if anyone wants it.

Lets just move on buddy!  I'm sure there will be other points of healthy arguments in the future.  But with PAX here this weekend, there will be tons of great gaming news to talk about, like that new 3DS and 3DS XL with a faster CPU, longer battery life, 2nd analog stick, 2 more shoulder buttons from Nintendo.

Dead Nation! Nothing says, "I missed you, brother" like co-op dual-stick zombie apocalypses. And if he gives you lip, you can promise to lay down cover fire for him and laugh as he gets eaten.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will be free as of Tuesday if you have PS+. Nothing like a fighting game to end a trip on a noisy argument.

Well, I was kind of being polite. The youtube video looked pretty crappy, but it had just enough of a Smash TV 'look and feel' that I though you might have confused it and Robotron. And there are some games on PSN that got trashed that actually are solid games (Novastrike, for example, remains one of my favorite psn experiences and it got trashed to high heaven). But yeah, I knew it wasn't anything like Robotron, lol.

WTF! Give it a break already. You will "leave it alone"? How is posting about a private conversation you had with him and saying you wish you could quote it leaving it alone?? JC on a stick!

Does the Vita version come with the regular edition of the game? All the websites mention the vita crossbuy with the Giant Edition of the game which is the base game and the Reign of Giants Expansion.

This deal is just the regular version of the game and reign of Giants expansion is another $5 which kind of kills the deal. I could just wait for the giant edition and buy that for $15.

Are you serious? I posted that hours ago, and what you quoted was the LEAST important portion of it. If it fucking bothers you, ignore it, genuis. It's an important topic to me, the same as all the monthly Final Fantasy discussions are to some of you.
