how do the free ps4 games work with ps+? I got my ps4 but am waiting till next week to open it. I want to wait for traffic to die down and make sure the patch is ok. Will resogun, contrast, and stuff all still be free to d.load or are they only up this week?

I ask because i cant seem to access the ps4 store on the ps3 so i cant really check. I want to make sure i can get those games if i set my ps4 up next weekend or sometning
Use the web store.

just tried it... no ps4 games showing up. still just ps3. I dont think i can view them unless i register a ps4 maybe? So my original question stands.. will those games be free next week too or are they a launch week only thing? Id be pissed if  i hook it up next weekend and resogun and contrast and stuff are gone

The trick is to search them individually on the web store. They don't show up in the free section.

I would doubt they remove them this soon. It's good publicity and people like the idea of getting free games with their brand new console.

I was able to "buy" Contrast for free from the web store, but Resogun is showing $14.99 in my cart for some reason. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Edit: Nevermind, just closed out the site, resigned in, and was able to get Resogun for free as well.

I heard PS3-only people can't check out with the free Plus games for PS4 until they buy a copy of Amy? Is this true?!?!?

So who else was it that was determined not to buy Beyond Good and Evil this week knowing they wouldn't actually play it? I'm crumbling and need support!

ive definitely sworn off buying things on PSN that arent on sale that im not going to play immediately and actually followed through on that.
Failure!

I've also stopped buying anything that isn't on deep discount.
Everything goes on deep discount at some point these days.

That was me. And I caved less than 24 hours later. You're on your own now. SAVE YOURSELF!!!

Oh that's not reassuring at all. Worst part is I'm really not even buying it for me to play but for my friend who's getting a PS3.

I was able to grab Contrast for free on PS4 and I didn't have to buy anything. I don't have a PS4 either.
Hope you grabbed Resogun too, it's outstanding.

You may just talking for the future, but import-wise the Vita TVs are region locked to Japanese accounts from what I have read. If your account is Japanese you're probably good to go though. I don't have it set to show sigs so if it shows you have one then my bad. 33.3 amys is a pretty sweet deal though when/if it comes here.
I'm still waiting to see somebody post whether it allows account switching like the PS4; sure, it's region-locked now, but that probably won't always be the case. OTOH if it's limited to one account like the Vita, well, that's no fun at all. Also if it's not locked to one account, then maybe the Vita will follow its example sometime soon.

Am I the only one who worries about this that it keeps getting delayed like this with little to no positive news? Obviously there's no way they can release it in anything but perfect shape or they'll get absolutely crucified but this is a lot of delays.
No matter how perfect they make it, rest assured that the internet will find a way to be bubbling over with vitriol and disappointment. I'm looking forward to it though - it'll be nice to have a meaty mainstream rpg on the vita. Wish a Tales game would get released stateside.

It never had an official date, just late 2013. So this is the only delay. In usual SE fashion, it was announced way too early so it feels like forever.

"Full details of the PlayStation Vita version and release timing will be revealed at a future date." Still worried about how long it's going to be until we see that if ever.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/11/18/ps-plus-binary-domain-oddworld-strangers-wrath-free-for-members/

Chances are, if you picked up a PlayStation 4 last week you’re still enjoying our PS4 PlayStation Plus titles, RESOGUN and Contrast, and that’s totally cool. However, if you’re anxiously waiting for your PS4 to arrive later this holiday season, we’ve got you covered with a new PlayStation 3 and PS Vita game this week. Binary Domain, a futuristic third-person squad-based shooter, is hitting the PS3 Instant Game Collection tomorrow. Morality meets gunfire, Binary Domain’s Consequences System means you’ll need to be aware of your actions — how your squad views you can impact the game as well as how the storyline progresses.

On PS Vita there’s Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, an action-adventure where you step into the role of Stranger, a bounty hunter. Whether or not you head into your bounties guns blazing or prefer a more stealthy approach is up to you, as well as whether you apprehend your subjects alive or dead. Your main goal is to earn as much money as possible, so it’s kind of like real life.

You can take advantage of all these PS Plus benefits after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

PlayStation Plus Update 11-18-2013

PlayStation Plus: Instant Game Collection

Binary Domain (PS3)

Free for PS Plus members, Regular Price: $19.99

PlayStation Plus: Binary Domain Created by Toshihiro Nagoshi, the man behind some of SEGA’s most well-known video game franchises including the critically acclaimed Yakuza series, Binary Domain puts players in the middle of a fast paced and intense battle for humanity in a robot-filled 2080 Tokyo. Fighting through the derelict lower levels of the city, players control an international peace-keeping squad that soon starts to question their surroundings and the choices they make. Are the robots becoming more human, or are humans becoming more like machines?

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath (PS Vita)

Free for PS Plus members, Regular Price: $14.99

PlayStation Plus: Oddworld Stranger's Wrath In the dusty, undeveloped wastelands of Western Mudos, cantankerous townsfolk find their settlements besieged by belligerent outlaws. Along comes Stranger, a tall, dark and enigmatic bounty hunter with a mission to capture troublemakers and scoundrels and return them to civilized townships for incarceration. But Stranger is keeping a secret and needs expensive surgery to survive. In his quest to earn enough Moolah, Stranger reluctantly accepts the ultimate bounty from the owner of the Mongo River and suddenly his adventure takes a very different turn.

Thanks a lot for posting these links again- I had forgotten to log in to the web store and "buy" these two games. Very much looking forward to playing them whenever I get my PS4.

Since it has never been mentioned, it's probably safe to assume it is one account only. Plus with the terrible game support it just sounds like very little thought was put into this product.

I would expect the same account setup as the Vita (unfortunately) since it is a Vita basically. Hopefully they get some of the other issues sorted because man there's some potential there if they update it to be fully functional.

What they should have done is made a PS4 streaming box, so you can play your PS4 on a 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) TV easily. Just that, for less money. I could see that selling, but not so much this limited support Vita thing that is just set to confuse.

So I figured I'd come to the PSN thread to get some answers. Are there really a lot of busted PS4 consoles? Reports seem so mixed so I'm not sure what to believe. Personally (knock wood) my unit seems to be great. I played some Resogun, Contrast, and Flower with no issues to report.

Am I alone in the fact that I dig the sparseness of the PS4 UI? Like the PS3 before I feel like it's a game machine first and not an ad for something. I've heard (but not seen for myself) that the XBOX One UI youtube video is pretty impressive though. I would never say having more options is a bad thing per say but as it stands now I kind of don't care anymore. There are so many devices that do so many things at this point. I kind of like just booting up and playing a game.

If there is anything I am bummed out about the PS4 it's that I can't get my Vita to play the PS4 in my bedroom using remote play using either ad-hoc or via the internet. I'm only getting 1 bar on the Vita wirelessly upstairs so I could probably get a repeater or something but I don't feel like buying something else right now.

I doubt this will help anyone but I couldn't find it anywhere online. If you want to check the battery life on the PS4 controller hold down the ps button for a second or two and you can see the level in the power off screen. It was driving me crazy that I couldn't find it. I also didn't realize you can only charge controllers in standby mode and not when the system is completely off (yeah dumb but oh well.) I think was this was because I kept reading it could be done not realizing they were talking in standby. I tend to never leave anything in standby for some reason. Usually because I'm busy and I'm never sure exactly when I'll be turning it on again.

We won't know for a long, long time how many are actually failing and how many are all the people with issues coming out to make sure everyone knows. It's like most things where there's his side, her side and the truth somewhere in the middle.

I like the UI and that it has the social and other stuff going on but it's more on the periphery. As long as you can reorder those squares that is. Eventually that's going to get out of control.

Do you have it turned on to connect to the PS4 directly? If so try turning that off, then it will run through your local wireless network without going through the internet. It should only be connecting through the internet if it can't find it in range or on the same network.

if any of you folks have an Amyerican Express card, check your offers for $25 back for $100 spent at Sony Store. You could snag 5x $20 PSN cards for $75 if you're so inclined (or a couple games or whatever). There's also a $30 back on $100 at Tigerdirect but I couldn't find PSN spacebucks on there.

Has anyone playing Contrast on PS4 run into any glitches? Like getting stuck on set pieces and not being able to move or the jumping animation happening slightly when your just running or seeing through walls/landscapes when you get close?

I did at first and then turned that off. I think my problem is my wireless signal on the Vita from upstairs is only 1 bar. I'm guessing if I had the full 3 or whatever my performance would be better. A little annoyed I have the Asus Dark Knight router which for mostly everything is the bees knees but still my signal is weak upstairs. I'm guessing a repeater would help. Maybe I should see if my old router could act as one.

That's weird because my remote play is happening on a different floor, my wireless AP is garbage and it's still been awesome.

You might try waiting for more than one post in between reposting this...

Yeah I know. My board app fucked up and double posted. Trying to hide it...

I got stuck on a set piece once but I was able to use the dash move repeatably to get free. It's not the best game for the glitchy-ness but overall so far (through act 1) I love the atmosphere and story.

Ok thanks. I've had that happen a few times along with the other glitches I mentioned playing the PS3 version, so I was wondering if it was a hardware thing or a code thing.

Just curious do you know how many bars of wireless signal you're getting on the Vita?
I've seen some comments indicating that you should have the PS4 connected via ethernet rather than wifi. Also some people are accidentally connecting the two in ad-hoc mode instead of going through their router, and ad-hoc has poor performance.

Unfortunately connecting via ethernet isn't an option for me but I could see how that would improve performance. I removed the option for ad-hoc after reading the same thing. Remote Play works great in the same room or close by for me. Eldritch is your PS4 connected via ethernet? That could be the key here.

Why would ad-hoc have worse performance? That makes no sense to me.
Inferior antenna configuration. Consoles prioritize heat management and other internal/layout considerations over antenna design. PS4 is probably 1-2 antennas and a relatively weak broadcast signal for ad hoc. A reasonable wireless AP is going to have a MIMO antenna array. and AP's are single function devices designed to have good broadcast characteristics.

Well there's a few reasons. Wired introduces another source of lag, most people's wireless setup is slower than the wired ports, and most if not all wireless devices and routers are only half duplex.

So anyone know if Sony is going to swap out WipEout 2048, Uncharted, and Gravity Rush?

Some people that work at Sony do!

With only one game on sale this week, I picked up Street Fighter x Tekken Vita just now since I was on the fence about it. I'll be annoyed if it gets added to IGC like EU+. I know someone earlier asked what DLC it comes with, so here it is: it does come with the DLC characters for PS3, but it won,t show up in your purchase. You have to search for it separately in the store - it's called "DLC Promo Offer" and it's listed as unavailable prior to purchasing SFxT Vita, so maybe they won't include it in future purchases. The Alternate Costumes for PS3 do show with your purchase as well as the Promo Offer bundle. No other DLC is included: swap costumes (though they were free from a glitch a while back), gems, or costumes for DLC characters. You can see what the costumes look like in character/color edit if you're curious about them before you buy it.

Jeb of Mojang answered the question of what codebase the Vita version of Minecraft uses and the answer is console (as opposed to pocket edition)!

That is great news! Hopefully they are fitting in PS3/PS4/Vita cross-save as well. Cross-buy would be nice too.
Would be nice if at least one of the versions was released.

"Full details of the PlayStation Vita version and release timing will be revealed at a future date." Still worried about how long it's going to be until we see that if ever.
I've got a feeling "if ever" is probably the key words here.

It doesn't sound like they're going to swap them out any time soon.

4J said a while ago that the PS4/Xbox 360/PS4/Vita/Xbox One versions are all based on the same codebase with the ability to toggle on/off certain features (draw distance, world size, etc) based on the specs of the console it's on.
