I have to be the one that is a little down on Tearaway. I like it alright, only paid $20 for a physical copy, so I don't feel ripped off or anything..but the game is just decent to me. Pretty standard stuff in my first few hours. I mean, it uses some of the lesser utilized features of the Vita..but does that make it good? For me, not so much. Pushing my finger through the rear touchpad or seeing my face from the front facing camera just doesn't excite me. It isn't a bad collectathon and certainly has some charm, I just wish I was more impressed with the overall experience.

That is what makes it not worth $40 for me, but $20 or under is a good price. It seems I am in the vast minority with my opinion anyhow.

K. So # of trophies = time spent gaming? Yet another reason I do not like them. Gives a disproportionate sense of player investment.

in the psn thread i exoected to see more names i recognize at the top of the list. i couldn't care less about player investment. I was just surprised. That's all. I should have known a lot of the true nerds in here have multiple systems. I dont. I only play ps3 or psn games. My bad. quote]

It's lacking a little in the gameplay department. The combat is pretty dull and the game isn't particularly challenging. It is the best looking handheld game I've ever seen and definitely has some fun vita implementations. I definitely enjoyed my time with it but not much replay value. 8.5/10.
Batman Blackgate was fun the first time. For those of you who would be going for the platinum, you have to play through three times. The game is awful about making you backtrack. And once you clear a group of enemies, they never respawn. So eventually you're literally just backtracking through empty areas for the sake of filling time. And in your first play, you can get a suit that makes you take zero damage, and it Carrie over to your new game plus. The second and third plays add absolutely nothing and are just for the sake of getting the platinum.
Trophy Unlocked: made Breakfuss' point for him.

Was watching a video of R&C gameplay. Looked pretty good but i saw a few moments where it looked like the POV was being stupid. Is that a big issue in the game? Also, how easy is the weapon menu to navigate? I think I'd probably like it, but I'd like to know about any sort of irritating issues like POV or obnoxious menus (like OoT on the N64) before I get it.

should I get Ascension and Into the Nexus?
What I've seen of Ascension looks good to me, but I don't ask for a lot form a God of War game. I even played the PSP games on my PS3 and they looked awful, but it was an interesting enough story and I got to kill stuff with fun attacks, so I didn't mind. People have been saying Ascension isn't that great, but I think depending on what you're looking for it's fine.

The 35GB issue is probably my only regret about getting it, even though my HDD is nowhere near filled up.

Kinda tempted on Guacamelee, but as others said, it does seem like a likely candidate for the IGC... guess I'll hold off.

On a completely unrelated note, here's an HTML5 game I hacked together the other night (don't expect much from less than an hour of work ;)).

Haven't played a Ratchet & Clank game before? Try one of the demos for Tools of Destruction or A Crack in Time to get an idea of the weapon wheel and that sort of stuff., as I don't think it's changed very much.

Well I beat Tearaway today.  My daughter and I finished it right as her mother was pulling up to pick her up.  If that little game called The Last of Us hadn't happened it would be my hands down game of the year.  Then again all I can see when I think about TLoU now is Joel doing that stupid ass Banderas gif.

Bad grafix, no trophiez, no retail release, can't put my finger through the back of screen. 10/10.

(Actually, good job dude. I like failing and seeing the red dog get mad at me)

When did you start writing for Polygon?
Wait... that's why he brings it up each week. He actually works for them in the marketing department so by starting flame wars about their latest score for Piss on an Onion XXVI he generates buzz. Very clever tyler but we're onto you now. Now give me back my Final Fantasy! I'll pay a random of Amy if you accept PayPal.

I watched the newest Star Trek movie last night. You guys were right, it is the best entry in the series. Knocks TNG and DS9 out of contention for best ever by a mile.

I was looking at GoTY nominees and saw Tearaway on a couple lists. If it wasn't for games like TLoU, GTA V, Bioshock and others, it might stand a chance. Hopefully it will win a few best portable game awards but that means it will be going head to head with LOZ: ALBW ( Which I think is Gamespots GOTY) or at the very minimum, make a couple top 10 lists. 2013 has been a great year for video games.

So based on all your true trophy scores its clear no one that posts in here plays games. I am 25 and only recognize Velo ahead of me.
Some of us read more and post less.

These 2 games are tops on my gamefly queue. Since they just received a game today and should be sending one on Monday I am going to continue holding off buying them and just go the rental route.

This may come as a shock to some people, but it is possible the like trophies AND play games you want to play.
Thanks for saying this.

Yeah...that's not a sale, Sony. And from reading the reviews, this game should be like $10-15 max.
Yet another one in the gamefly queue, but I just cant see how a port of a game that long after the original came out is expected to bring in that much when it is "on sale".

Don't worry you're not the only one. Just felt average in the gameplay department. Was glad it was really short.

What's up with the 10K+ label next to this thread's title on the deals page?  Obviously it means it's over 10,000 posts now, but I wonder why it would be necessary to label that.

Yeah I just Know Your Meme'd it, I've seen it randomly pop up on the web but never bothered to actually see what it was. I still don't get the whole bitcoin thing.
Investment hype and complicated inner workings aside, Bitcoin is just another currency which happens to have a lot of advantages over other currencies, as well as some big disadvantages (rapidly-changing value, relatively low acceptance, and a higher learning curve than just paper and coins, though this is all improving over time).

It'd be nice to have 'Plays games for the [...]' as our tags instead of 'CAGversary', 'CAG Veteran', etc. Tearaway is brilliant so you philistines can take your terrible tastes (and trophies) and shove it up AMY's onion.

The two things I don't understand about modern gaming (and modern gamers):

- Emphasis on graphics over gameplay/story
- Obsession with imaginary awards (achievements, gamer points, Steam cards)
- Oh yea, and another one, Call of Duty
Call of Duty is easy to explain: it invented the modern day shooter, it's still one of the - of not the - most solid shooter franchise to date. Innovative and addictive competitive options. Fun.

to add: it's against the law to refuse US dollars here, not so for bitcoins nor any other currency. Above all other reasons why bitcoin is unsustainable, that's the most notable.

I predict negative replies in your future...
well you can't make a controversial statement without raising controversy.

but here is the fact: CoD 4 MW absolutely crushed Halo - that was the halo killer, after all - as seen on xbl statistics. Many, many people ditched halo in favor of cod. This is undeniable. CoD was unprecedented and offered tired fps players a fresh new look at the genre. How is it not understood why this would be a success? Its perfectly understandable to me. Just because it's not my fav shooter doesn't mean I dont recognize what it did for gaming.

opinion based on that fact: just about every iteration has gotten better. Therefore, how can it be considered bad? Maybe repetitive, or lacking innovation in the newer entries...but bad? That's dumb.

To navigate weapon menu you hold ^ which stops time, then you press the stick at the angle which corresponds to that quadrant on the weapon wheel, then release triangle and it selects that weapon. It's pretty quick and easy. It get's a bit stickier when you get the last 4 weapons, there are too many to have on one wheel, so the last 4 are on a second wheel. While holding ^ press R1 to toggle between the 2 weapon wheels.

What's up with the 10K+ label next to this thread's title on the deals page? Obviously it means it's over 10,000 posts now, but I wonder why it would be necessary to label that.
I don't know I always took it as a sort of Cag trophy / achievement sort of deal, but then I also thought that it was possibly a warning to the OP to create a new thread for the topic. Either way it is an achievement.

10,000 is nothing. Let's pretend this is achievies and shoot for 100,000!

All y'all R&C: Nexus players aware of the new iOS & Android game that lets you earn Rareitanium for the actual PS3 game? Here's the links:

iOS:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ratchet-clank-btn/id779657007?mt=8

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playstation.ratchetnexus

It's basically Temple Run in space, but with more magical guns.
I tried to like it as a fan of those type of games and I just can't. Maybe it would work better on a tablet but it's just no good on iPhone.

Yeah same here. My thumbs are just to big to try and tap things to shoot them and still be able to see what the hell is going on.

The shooting screws it up and then it prompts you on screen the whole time to buy more ammo. If you don't buy more ammo then it arbitrarily kills you. Plus you then have all these different motions on top of all that. I love these games but really, less is often more with them.
