I concur, if Epic Mickey was the Vita version I'd be in for it. Very glad I decided to pass on Castle of Illusion for $7.50 on XBL a few days ago. Getting it for $3.75 is a lot better, duh :p

Is it good? I'm getting it partly for my son since he loves him some Mickey.
Haven't played much of it (I am a CAG after all) but it looks nice. The controls are kind of a pain in the ass because you are controlling both the camera and the paint cursor at the same time with the right stick. Usually I like to have my camera inverted but when I'm controlling an on-screen reticule I usually have that set to standard controls. So for me personally it's taking a little while to get used to controlling the reticule in an inverted fashion. There's a 1.1 GB demo that will let you see how the controls work.

I believe the game is also Move compatible though I haven't tried that yet. It may make things easier to control. Also, I'm pretty sure the game is local co-op (and better with co-op because the 2nd player AI is abysmal) so if you plan to play together is should probably work well.

If it was the Vita version I probably would have bought it for $10. I already have the PS3 version retail.

I beat Epic Mickey 2 with my wife. It was a horrible experience.

Half of the time you don't know where to go or what to do without a walkthrough. Even if you do know where to go, some jumps are ridiculously hard thanks to terrible camera, and I don't see how it could be accomplished by a younger player. There are some glitches that allows you "skip" portions of the level at which point it is impossible to follow the walkthrough, other glitches forces you to restart the level.

The only fun part is the 2D mini levels that act as transition levels.

Im having an inner struggle with the CAG in me to keep Beyond. I know I want to own it but can't resist trading it in for $28 profit. First world problems. To keep or not…that is the question.
I love the game but I flipped it with Killzone Mercenary, which was another game I didn't want to get rid of. The profit was too high for me to keep them.

At what point did you make the decision, "this game is terrible, but let's beat it anyway"? Why?
So you'd rather schedule appointments for the encounters in an rpg?
You need to play Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Mother 3, etc. Random encounters are annoying as fuck.

Yes, I've played those.  Thing is, we're talking about those Dragon Fantasy games, right?  Those are more in the 16-bit style where for the most part the only thing you ever saw were random encounters.

No doubt on Castle of Illusion, super happy I waited for that. Ducktales could have probably been cheaper, don't matter to me though I bought it at launch during that promo, which turned out to be a really good decision for me.

Can someone give a full recap for Dragon Fantasy Book 2? Have they patched out some of the issues that plagued it at launch? I know IGN thrashed it, but it was reviewed by by far the worst editor over there. Other reviews haven't been great though either. Let's just say I'd give Book 1 a 7.5 or 8/10, so I'm assuming I'll like Book 2 as well right?
Its very similar to book one. Except the story is more connected. The battle system can be wierd and my biggest gripe is that the funny battle text scrolls faster then you can read it 75% of the time. Other then that I played through the game recently and didn't hit any major or annoying glitches. And I actually wnjoyed the game as a whole I gave the first a 9, the second would probably get an 8.5

I really wish Ducktales was on the Vita but for the price I might get it anyway. I grew up on NES platformers so I'm in for some remake nostalgia.

Because she said let's just power through it since you already bought it ($8.99 GF sale), and couch co op is dying fast, we have very limited couch co op games to play, after we beat the good ones (Gears of War, Halo, Borderlands 1/2, Army of Two, Tales, Ibb and Obb, Dead Nation, Dragon's Crown etc.), the decent ones (FUSE, Hunted The Demon's Forge, Dungeon Siege III, Resident Evil 5/6 etc.) we are left with the bad ones (Epic Mickey, Aliens CM, Green Lantern, Haze etc.).

The only local co-op reserve I have now is Diablo III, hope by the time we beat that there will be new couch co op games out.

Update about the Pinball Arcade discount that didn't go through:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/12/23/update-on-pinball-arcade-for-ps4/

I just skimmed it but I think it said as of tomorrow you'll be able to get the discount.
I didn't realize people were having this problem. My discount went through okay. Having played it on PS4 for a bit, I really don't see where all of the "extra work" they did went. I guess it looks a bit better and the load times are definitely shorter (total pain in the ass in the PS3 version), but I can't help but feel a little burnt (or pissed on, whatever you prefer) after ponying up the $15. I'm more excited for my free Zen tables tomorrow.

I think you're pretty spot on - some of the 'feel' of the flippers/ball is less janky than how my muscle memory remembers tables (well, all I've played so far is attack from mars). The improved lighting is definitely nice and I'm finding one of my favorite PS4 'features' is the minimal load time in all games, but I can totally see how it's hard to swallow paying for all the tables again. I wish I could get more worked up over Zen dropping this week and I know I'll play it, but Pinball Arcade and I are in love.

Baby, I promise I'll spend more time with you when I'm done with Assassin's Creed.

As much as I love digital pinball I'm finding it hard to get excited for either zen or arcade. I didn't download arcade on the PS4 and I'm not even sure I will Zen. I feel like they have a spot on my Vita because I'd play them there before on console. I don't know, maybe one day when I'm bored.

Zen's pinball designs are bad. I want to use a stronger word, but I am resisting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c

As someone who never really played real pinball growing up, I get more mileage out of the Zen stuff. I enjoy The Pinball Arcade, but something about the ball physics makes me suck at it. Feels like I lose the ball much faster than in Zen and usually it doesn't feel like my fault. I'm sure that's just realism or whatever since the tables were designed for eating quarters.

I'm sure that which you like more (or at all) is probably directly related to whether or not you play/have played real pinball. Needless to say, I have played real pinball since I was a kid and have a Fish Tales in my dining room. :) Pinball Arcade is not perfect at all, but it's the best thing going if you like real pinball.

Aren't the cut scenes the whole point of that game? I only played the demo. I felt like I was in a cut scene the entire time.
Yeah, they are. If you want to skip cutscenes while playing the first time, there's no point in playing the game. But like with every other game ever, cutscenes should be skippable on subsequent playthroughs.

cant wait to see the major sales tomorrow hopefully
The sales have already been announced- http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/12/23/ps-plus-sonic-all-stars-racing-transformed-free-for-members/

And just so I'm clear on Telltale's post about TWD Season 2's season pass on PS3, episodes 1-5 will be included in the season pass for a total of $14.99? I don't have to already have purchased and/or downloaded episode 1 to get that price? The post on their website was a little confusing to me, obviously...

Fun fact, the Target I went to today was actually sold out of Vitas.  I'm sure they only had like 6 of them to begin with, but I've never seen them actually run out.

Also, this is totally the wrong place for this, but if someone wants to snag me an x-men psn code from gamestop.com before they vanish I'd be happy to pay you back - I'm permabanned, otherwise I'd do it myself (obviously).  Just shoot me a PM.

Not sure if you've played these, but here are some other ones I have played or am playing with my gf: LBP, LBP2, Lego series, Rayman Origins, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2, Castle Crashers. There are probably some more but those came to mind. I think Dragon's Crown has local co-op too, but I haven't picked that one up yet.

Yeah, LBP 1/2 are among our favorites. Rayman too, the latter levels got too hard for my wife though so she quit towards the end (last two or three levels and the hidden level). She has no interest in the lego series though, for some reason.

Castle Crashers is the definitive gaming night choice for a four friends gaming night (with homemade hot wings and beer), I wish there were more non-retor games like Castle Crashers. Dragons Crown has local co op I can confirm that for you, I'm saving this for our next four people gaming night.

I just want to throw out Donkey Kong Country Returns even though...we shan't speak of that platform here. :shame: I think it has the best platforming co-op. Those are excellent picks, though. I have them all except Marvel & CC. Speaking of which, I've been holding out for a Castle Crashers sale since joining CAG.

Zen's pinball designs are bad. I want to use a stronger word, but I am resisting.
I'm not this harsh about it, but I can tell good/great table design by my ability to just play a table cold and be able to figure out what I'm supposed to do along with being able to hit those important parts of the table (ramps, buttons, etc.). Most of the Pinball Arcade tables pass this test, but Zen Pinball has more stinkers in that regard. The Star Wars Pinball tables in particular were hard to get a grasp on what to do and how to actually do it.

You should try making sense of the real machine Spectrum some day. ;) It is based on the old game Mastermind. :) Well, I don't think it's actually a great game, but it is worth trying. It will piss you off royally until you get used to its ball shuffling behavior, though….
