Anybody in for Aliens:  Colonial Marines?  I'm tempted, if it was a physical copy at that price I'd bite.  Sadly my hard drive is so full I've already had to delete my God of War and Assassin's Creed games, I'm really not willing to delete more just to make space for this game.

Personally the only way I would ever buy Alien: Colonial Marines MAYBE is on PC, at least then there is a chance that modders would be able to fix some of its problems.

For the love of God listen to your inner self then haha. It's not worth it.

There's no room for logic on this board, good sir.

Per tylerh's request, I'm compiling a list of the PSN games that I'm getting rid of and the ones that I'm keeping.  I'll be posting it either today or tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm just interested to see what games that you paid money for that you don't feel like are worth your time. It's also fun to see other people's bad purchases, makes me feel better about my own awful digital buys.

My 500g ps3 has been full for awhile, and i've been forced to delete stuff. it sucks, it makes me sad. even if i've never played the game and deep down know i never will.

Yeah, it's likely going to be the next game I play, not 100% sure yet.
Make it so. Seriously.

Well, I would only be switching accounts to play PSP/PS1 games so if it's not that much of a hassle to do once in a blue moon, then maybe it won't be a problem. It's not like I'm going to play a PS1 game at the same time as a Vita game so it won't be like I'll have to switch back and forth everyday.

I also kind of want to make a new name to make my download list more manageable. My gettinmoney one has 1663 or so items in it. It's not like that account is getting deleted, so I'll always have access to it. The only casualties are the Vita PSN games that are tied to the gettinmoney account. Luckily, a lot of the ones that I actually want are cross buy so I'll just play them on PS3. I think the only real casualties are Sine Mora and Sumioni.

I kinda exaggerated. I'll still go after trophies, I'm just changing how they affect my gaming. It was starting to feel more like work than fun because I'd have various worries. Also, if I wasn't earning trophies, I'd feel like I was wasting time, which affected my playing of DS/PSP/PS1 games. Now they'll just be something to go after and if it stops being fun, fuck it, on to the next one. I'm trying to reverse five years of conditioning here.
You can always play ps1 games via remote play if you wanted, and you're at home. That's how I deal with mine.

i really recommend against splitting your game buying across two accounts. this can only cause pain in the end (like how i can't play my psp games on my vita easily).

yes, the download list sucks now (i have in the 1500+ area as well) but that will hopefully be fixed as more people reach that level with ps+ and therefore more people pester for improvements.

buying on different accounts, however, will fracture your link to your games across devices not just now, but forever. i mean, imagine the ps?6? has full Gaikai streaming of all games you've ever bought... but you've now split your games across accounts.

while that's just an example, it happened to me already when i thought it would be a good idea to buy my psp games on a different account. then the vita and ps+ came out, and instead of having easy access to all my psp games, it sucks. don't do that to yourself... especially since you can buy them all on your main account on the ps3 and keep playing them from a ps3 subaccount anyway.

speaking of trophies, Dyad has perhaps the absolute best set of trophies I've ever seen.

Essentially, there are 26 different levels.  Each level has your basic 3 star goals, leaderboards, etc.   However, once you 3 star a stage, it unlocks a 'trophy' challenge for this stage -- usually a variant of the level slightly modified by a time limit or required technique.

End result is that these 26 trophies all

1) add a new gameplay variant

2) are skill based, not grind based

get those 26 trophies and you get a plat.   It's perfect trophy design, and I wish more games did this than 'find 100 pieces of trash nobody cares about'

DYAD REVIEW --

I've only 3 star'd and trophies the first 6 levels of 26, but this game is pretty awesome, if you're into this sort of game.

It's really hard to describe -  it's sort of a mix of something like

- Wipeout (neon racer with speed pads)

- Tempest (you circle freely around the map, always at the edge but feeling like you're moving inwards)

- and maybe a rhythm game melted down with a schmup.

You then have some additional powers charged up by 'grazing' hooked orbs, and... Yea, this game is impossible to describe.  It's a neon eye melter speed running game.

There's a demo.  I really, really wish it had less 'speed' pads and more 'schmup' (I don't like trying to match colors at high speed), but overall it's pretty perfect at what it is.  Which means if the game sounds appealing to you, it probably will be.

I think getting this plat might melt my head though - some of the trophies are no joke.

The Dyad demo reminded me of the old Harmonix titles, Frequency and Amplitude, but only in look -- very different gameplay.

Speaking of tempest llamasoft is making a new tempest game for the vita and I am insanely excited.

Apologies for this n00b question, but I just got a Vita, and plan to buy a PS4 when it comes out (currently an xbox gamer.)

I just signed up for PS+ for my Vita. Re the free games, do I actually have to 'buy' them for zero dollars before each month is over, or do the free ones accumulate for the time I'm a PSPlus member and I can pick them up any time?

You must purchase the games so they are on your download list. Then you can download them anytime along as your subscription to PS+ is active. The free games will rotate out so make sure you get the games your interested in.

You'll need to "buy" them for free. By doing that, they'll be added to your download history and you can download them later.

Just try to remember to "buy" the new free games through the online store and you'll be golden.

Ok, sounds good thanks.  That's how the xbox marketplace is working with their games with Gold promo so it'll be an easy transition.

I'm an achievement enthusiast on Xbox 360 since that's my main console, but I've been good at only playing games I like. It can get exhausting though, especially with my library/backlog. My PS3 library is tiny in comparison and I don't play it as much and usually stick to exclusives there besides PS+ games. I like to get Trophies still yet I don't worry about them like I do on 360.

For instance, I've simply enjoyed my first playthroughs of the Uncharted games, inFamous, Journey and TLOU. When it comes to collectibles I'll wait for my inevitable 2nd+ playthroughs whenever I get around to them. It's a nice difference. And I like not worrying about my completion percentage. It helps that I don't have many friends on PSN so I mainly keep to single player experiences too. Whenever I'm on my PS3 I feel disconnected from the outside world rather than always checking up on Friends on XBL. No wonder I lost track of time playing Guacamelee and Duck Tales :)

Can't find anything about it, but if you sign up for a year of PS+ you get 3 months free again!

Saw it in an email sony sent.

EDIT: I just noticed I get Sony UK emails. so maybe not...

Or, you could simply play the game(s) in the alternate account, see if you like it/them, and play it/them on the main account.

Can't find anything about it, but if you sign up for a year of PS+ you get 3 months free again!

Saw it in an email sony sent.

EDIT: I just noticed I get Sony UK emails. so maybe not...
I'm hoping we get this deal in the US again to coincide with the PS4's release. My PS+ ran out and I'm sitting on a 3 month card while I work on the backlog. I figure I won't lose out on anything for at least a month and depending on the games expiring I may even go longer without.

But I was going to pick up a year PS+ card with some Best Buy credit while it's $40. Just want to maximize my time when I redeem it.

dyad update --

hrm.  as i progress into this, i feel like in order to meet the 3 star or trophy requirements, you end up going so fast it's impossible to do anything but circle the border while spamming hook and lance (x and square).

now, the challenge is getting to that point in a reasonable time frame... but once you're there, gameplay goes out the window.  i think i'd rather they'd have slowed everything down a bit.

still, anyone that likes zone challenges on wipeout would probably dig this.  unfortunately, my least favorite thing about wipeout (which i love) are speed pads.

So here is the list of games I'm getting rid of and, to compare if you're interested, the games I'm keeping.  I might have missed one or two but this is pretty accurate.

Can someone here confirm if any of the data from the Killzone Mercenary beta carries to the final game or not?

I just want to make sure it's okay to delete it before I lose vital save information.

Not seeing a reason for all the Galaga DX hate. It's a decent revamp of the original, what more could be expected? All the comparisons to Pac Man DX are mind boggling. Even the original Pac Man and Galaga play very differently. It's like comparing Centipede to Missile Command.

People are comparing it to pac man because pacman ----> pacman dx and then galaga ----> galaga dx they both went through a very similar reboot/expansion/hi-defification and pacman made it out of the process incredibly and galaga did not

Interesting. Not surprisingly, we have a whole lot of similar games. You're definitely getting rid of a lot of pretty decent games, maybe one day you'll get back to them. The ones I like the most on your Get Rid Of list are:

comet crash
from dust
funky lab rat
nba jam
PJ Racers
Quantum Conundrum
Swarm

From Dust and Funky Lab Rat are my 2 favorite on that list. From Dust is just excellent, and Funky Lab Rat is a very fun puzzle platformer, though if that's not really you're favorite type of genre then you don't need to play it. Quantum Conundrum is excellent too.

On you're keep list, I can recommend skipping these games without missing anything remarkable:

Earthworm Jim HD
Flower
Hard Corps Uprising
MKAK
SImpsons
TMNT

Just my 2 cents though. Going over my PSN and PS+ backlog, I could definitely use a similar purge to yours. I'm not going to, but I could use it. But I'm sure I'll get to HamsterBall, Wakeboarding HD, Under Siege, and Zack Zero some day haha.

Gettinmoney, you have to play home run derby. Its literally two minutes for 4golds and 100%...oh wait...nevermind
It's those gateway drugs that will suck him back in. "Oh? I just got 100% on this game in four swings? Well, I guess it would hurt to go platinum FF14."

You're in luck, @frisky provided a thorough dissertation on this very matter.

Yep, Galaga definitely went through a process of hi-defecation. AMIRITE...

...guys?!

I don't know if this question is gonna make sense but here we go:

I understand every account on the system can play a Plus game when one user is subscribed to Plus.  However, if that person's subscription ends, can the game be played by another account on the system that is subscribed to Plus?  I have a feeling that's a no.

If you like classic Galaga, Gaplus is a really cool sequel that I don't think too many people are aware of. Galaga 88 looks fun as well, although I haven't tried that one.

As long as that other account has the game on its download list. When the Plus sub expires, the game will expire. If you try to play it, it will tell you that you can renew the license in the PS Store. Basically to renew the license, you just start the download and cancel it. So you'll only get access to that game if you renew the license with an account that has the game on its download list.

I don't believe so since that game is tied to the other account, though if it reverts back to demo form, then you may be able to log in with the new PS+ account, unlock it with that account, and continue playing there.

Just starting up a demo I downloaded with my main account on an alt account, I could purchase it for the alt account, so in theory it should work. It just depends on how the game handles PS+ expiration and whether you could just reactivate that game with the new account.

This is how I do it. Once you've got your PS+ subscription going, every Tuesday night go to this link and you'll see all the free games listed. The first time you'll put everything you can (PS3 / Vita / PSP games) all into your cart and get them all. Then every Tuesday you'll see just one or two new ones. Download anything that shows new. And you're done! Then on your Vita you go into the PS Store and in the bottom right corner the little half circle thing ... click that and it says "Download List" and everything purchased will show there. All the Vita specific games will say "Download".!! And you're golden!

Make sure all items always say $0.00.

The link below says en-ca for Canada for me, but I believe it will auto-switch to en-us for you! :)

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-ca/free-games/cid=STORE-MSF77008-PSPLUSFREEGAMES

(the PS Store updates around 2pm-4pm every Tuesday), hence why you check every Tuesday night!

Yeah, I figured, thanks guys.  My gettinmoney name has Plus until about mid-March so looks like some games are leaving the keep pile while others will move to the top of the backlog.

So I just redeem a free month for the first time ever and had to enter a credit card info. Will it auto renew, if so, how do I turn it off! Thanks.

It's under account management on the XMB. When you find the PS+ service just disable auto-renewal there

Oh Sony, I am enjoying your products but you are awful liars.

Comments on games you're getting rid of without trying:

Anomaly: Warzone Earth  - somewhat fun reverse tower defense game.  great concept, decent implementation.

Astro Tripper  : fun enough. not great, but solid for what it is.

Comet Crash  : great take on tower defense. worth playing if you like TD.  you send out troops as well as defend.

Eat Them! - i thought this was fun. not great, but fun.

Mushroom Wars - decent base attack game (your bases get troops, you send them to connected bases)

Novastrike - while this didn't get a great reception, it's one of my favorite games on psn.  it's sort of a dual stick shooter, though your primary weapons aren't tied to the dual stick (although a secondary one is).  i love this game. love it!

Peggle - if you haven't played this on another system, it's a keeper.

Pinball Arcade - hella keeper.

Quantum Conundrum - quite a good puzzler in a 'portal' way.

Rag Doll Kung-Fu - worst game on psn?

Zuma - really solid game.  definitely recommended.
