I am mostly happy with my PS5 so far. I finished where I left off with AC Odyssey going from PS4 to PS5 and was easily able to just use the same hard drive I was using with my OG PS4. I do transfer the game I am actively playing from the external HD to the internal storage for the theoretical speed boost on loading screens but honestly it doesn't really feel that earth-shattering. The graphics are much better of course as I skipped the PS4 Pro model but I am betting that the games are not really optimized for the PS5 so that is why loading times may be slower than expected.

I am currently about 60% through Red Dead Redemption 2 and it's been great so far.

I did get the Series X with GamePass via all-access. I do agree that the Series X experience is slightly more optimized in terms of the interface and the SSD difference seems to be more noticeable anecdotally with the games I have tried. I have a big Xbox-exclusive backlog so I have plenty of games to play as my last XBOX console was the original one from 2001. Also, the Series X serves as an emulation box for me with retail Retroarch. I am just waiting for the emulation homebrew scene to mature further as currently there are annoying limits on total storage so I stick to the pre-PS2 era consoles mainly.

 
I think i'll finally bite on Job Simulator. I have it sealed physically, but the game seems quite rare. I'll sell that & finally be able to play it. Also will pickup Castle Crashers for $8. It was that price on Switch before, but passed because the Switch's online is bad so I decided not to renew after it lapsed. Plus 2D games just play better on the PS & XB pads imo. 

 
That Indie sale is really great, gonna get A Night in the Woods, Spelunky, Hollow Knight, Serial Cleaner, Donut County, and maybe Ruiner (but probably not).

That's on top of me strongly tempted by that Dead Island collection, and Elite Sniper V2 Remastered for like $6 each...but those go on sale all the time.
 
Sony weren't kidding when they were hyping this massive indie sale. I'm struggling to think of any PS4 indie of note that doesn't have a discount right now. And some of these games rarely or never go on sale, and a lot of others are at all-time lows.

Any recommendations for games in this sale that might get lost under the radar? I already own a lot of these indies, but my cart is still approaching $100 lol.

Omensight, from the Stories: The Path of Destinies developer, looks like it might be fun. I've had it on my wishlist for a while and finally bit at $9.99 (50% off).

I would recommend Roundguard, Atomic Crops, Fury Unleashed, Creature in the Well, Earthnight, My Friend Pedro, Arise a Simple Story. A Ghost of a Tale, Rico, Messenger, Guacamelee 2 Complete, Moonlighter, Evoland Legendary, Gonner, Adventure Pals, Tesla vs Lovecraft, Iconocasts, Hand of Fate 2, Ruiner, Rise and Shine Etc. . .There are so many great games on sale.

Also there are these instant game collections from Curve that are available 3 games for super cheap. Check them out.

I have played about half of these games and pretty much liked all of them a lot. So definitely going to check out the rest of your recommendations. Especially Creature in the Well, which I've never heard of before. Pinball Metroidvania rpg... fuck yes, bought.

I still have faith we'll get a Crisis Core port. They need to tell people who aren't in the know who Zack is!

So, is the Yuffie DLC exclusive to the PS5? Because that would be a garbage move from Square Enix (though they are admittedly known for garbage moves). I really hope they confirm that it'll be on PS4, as well.

 
As someone who never played Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus, I would love those two games integrated into the FF7R episode storyline, so I'm down for this.  I'm also glad that we'll be able to transfer our progress from PS4 to PS5, hopefully with auto-pop trophies.

Creature in the Well is such a great game. I played it on game pass and then bought the physical for switch because I liked it so much. It has some great gameplay and design elements.

I just got a PS5 today and that is the reason it’s in my cart. I really enjoy 10tons games. Tesla Vs Lovecraft was super fun so I heard this is also really fun. It’s also a different type of game.

Tesla Force is a rogue-lite top-down shooter featuring endless procedural gameplay Which is right up my alley.

Currently watching State of Play now (missed it live), so not sure yet, but the new Oddworld is free in April! It looks fantastic. Really looking forward to it.

EDIT: No announcement of March PS+ games. However there’s a PS5 update for FFVII with a new chapter! Update is free, new content costs something. Out in June. That was the biggest announcement overall. There really didn’t need to be a State of Play, IMO.

100% agreed. If I remember correctly there wasn’t a single first party game shown off. Returnal is kind of 2nd party with Housemarque, but that was the closest. This whole thing was a waste of 30-40 minutes.
 
PS Plus for March will either be incredibly good or incredibly bad. My money’s on God of War since it recently got the upgrade and is free on PS5 anyway.

lol this is literally the best way to put it. It's not like the games sucked, but there was nothing that really warranted a big live stream.

Excited about the FF7 PS5 upgrade, I hope that apartment door in the slums has something beyond a PS1 texture now.

Also really curious about Sifu. I liked the combat in Absolver but it being multiplayer focused really turned me off and I stopped playing it after a couple of hours.

I did a stream with it a while back when it hit 1.0 on PC and it's not the same kind of linear campaign-focused game. It's a roguelike in the vein of a Rogue Legacy (or their previous game Neon Chrome) in terms of having a base to go back to upgrade your stats incrementally, but you're picking challenges on a map as you travel to the final boss of that area. The stages don't end when you complete the goal to let you gather more crystals or whatever, but you have to manage a dark ritual clock that ticks up as you play that gives the enemies perks each time it fills up so that they can keep up with you as you get perks and such to get stronger throughout that chapter. There are four different characters with their own stats while Tesla is the middle of the road. I remember the stages having a bit more variety to them compared to how the campaign of Tesla vs Lovecraft was very repetitive when going through the three stages of the campaign for the platinum.

If the DualSense stuff is like Crimsonland, I'd suggest turning off the haptic feedback since they rumble the controller for every shot of the gun and the miniguns are just overkill. The trigger resistance stuff doesn't really matter since you're holding down the trigger the entire time. I'd kill for some good Activity Cards in Crimsonland so I could just hop into any of the arcade modes right away.
