It all depends on how it's supposed to be played. Like Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted makes sense as I'll leave the disc in. But Binding of Isaac, Abzu, Journey, even Ultimate Alliance, I want to quick play a bit and move on.

Yeah, it probably doesn't matter, just trying to make it nice. Physical looks nice as a real gift but digital is easier.

I wonder if PS5 backwards compatibility for PS4 games is different disc vs digital (if he's still playing it in a year)

I have seen that a few places. I am not expecting it to be as good as Diablo and for the price I don't need it to be as good. As long as I get solid gameplay throughout the game I will be happy.

Personally I did not find the gameplay in Torchlight 2 very fun. But it depends on what you're comparing it to. If you enjoyed the leveling gameplay in Diablo 3 then you may enjoy Torchlight 2 but if you're comparing it to endgame D3 where you get into the meat of the game and start making specific builds and focusing on greater rifts then Torchlight 2 will never get anywhere near as fun as that.

And yeah there is a lack of replayability if you're comparing it to stuff like D3 or POE. Torchlight 2 isn't really built with an endgame experience in mind. It has a map system like the first game where you can make endless random dungeons but there isn't really much structure around it in the way like D3 has where you can gather blood shards and farm specific gear or use your excess materials on optimizing a piece of gear you like via stat rerolls. In Torchlight 2 you just sort of run dungeons and hope some loot with higher numbers drop, the set bonuses and unique armors aren't quite as interesting or game changing as they are in D3.

I only put 42 hours into Torchlight 2 (according to Steam) before I got bored and moved on and honestly I only went that long because I was playing with friends. Would have quit long before then without them.

Torchlight 2 is good, but it's a game made by a small team before Diablo III came out, so it doesn't have the amount of content that game does.

Been playing Outer Worlds (via Game Pass). At first I couldn’t believe how much I liked it. However, the more time I put into it I realized how shallow it is. It’s like ‘baby’s first Bethesda RPG.’ The fact that all the gear is exactly the same is infuriating.

Hour 1: 10/10
Hour 5: 7/10

Hmmm thanks for the input. If been debating getting it but maybe I'll hold off until Black Friday sale.

People are pretty positive on it, but I think a lot of it comes from people wanting to shit on Bethesda lately with the Fallout 76 drama.

To be honest, Outer Worlds is just Fallout Jr. with a nicer coat of paint (in my opinion).

Played Fallout 4 and currently playing Outer World's. OW is better than Fallout 4 hands down.

That’s good and 100% valid. But it’s an objective fact that character/gear customization has been dumbed down to almost being non-existent. And hell, if say you pick up 10 shotguns on a single planet 10 of those shotguns will be IDENTICAL to each of the others. There’s no RNG for gear! IMO, that’s pretty unforgivable.

A smaller gripe is that lockpicking and such requires no skill. It’s just “do you have this arbitrary number of picks? No? off then.”

I’m not trying to ruin anyone’s enjoyment of the game. I’m just saying why I believe it’s inferior mechanically to like RPG’s.

All of those things make it a positive for me. I don't want to spend 200 hrs playing a game. This is a simple and fun game. Thats perfect for me. All that other stuff made Fallout 4 super frustrating and sent my OCD into overdrive.

I think I just had too high of expectations for it. The fact that people were saying it’s the spiritual successor to New Vegas set a bar in my head that Outer Worlds just couldn’t reach I guess.

From what I understand it's a smaller team too. So I checked my expectations and I'm loving it.

Maybe hold off on not playing Outer Wilds if you’re relying on a single CAG forum user saying the game isn’t great. It’s great. I’m ecstatic it’s not like Borderlands with the weapons. If you don’t have GamePass, and you’re a true CAG, then sure, hold off for a price drop. But there’s a ton of great reviews all over the place for this game for a reason. And it’s not because people hate Fallout 76.

I don't think there was ever any RNG factor to the gear in modern Fallout games outside of what condition it was in when you found it which would affect its damage, protection, etc. Item condition affects its performance in Outer Worlds but everything I have found up til now has been at 100% durability. Not sure if that will change or not.
