This concerns me as well...the PS4 remastered experience is significantly better imo compared to the ps3 version. I feel like it could be wise to wait for PS5 to release and play it on that regardless of enhanced patching for a better experience.

It's short for game trading zone. In addition to tracking condition, etc, you can mark stuff as wanted / collection / available and compare against other people's lists for trading purposes.

Established traders have been there for years and years with hundreds of certified trades. Don't trade with anyone under a gold star til you get used to the site. As a new member, you will need to send first, once you build up a rep people usually ship at the same time.

The only serious drawback is it doesn't allow you to mark as digital, so it's best for physical [though you can list digital under collection with a note if you want]

I use it not only for inventory, but for trading [over ten years]. Saved a fortune. Free to use, subscription optional to support the owner.

wait a year for a few more frames and slightly better graphics?

you should do most of your gaming on PC if it really makes that much of a difference to you

 
I tend to wait at least a year or so before buying most games anyway.  Why am I going to spend $60 to buy Borderlands 3 (for example) right now, when I can wait a year and get the inevitable GotY edition with all the Downloadable Content included on disc?  And if I've waited that long, may as well wait another year until I can pick up the GotY edtion on Black Friday for $20.

I have more than enough games to tide me over, I have no problem waiting two years to get the complete version of games for cheap.

Yeah, I used to trade there way back in the day (probably almost 20 years ago). I got burnt trading my Saturn for a N64. They eventually sent me a broken Saturn back (definitely not the one I sent). I would say it may be good for trading games but losing a console in the mix soured it for me. There are definitely good deals to be had there if you are dealing with reputable folks.

I know... waiting for the inevitable “Cool story, bro.”

if you have a backlog how much money did you really save especially when you might never get to some of those games?

i'd rather buy games i really want on launch day than wait 2 years to save 40 dollars, what will you do with the extra 40 dollars? buy cheaper games you might never play?

A lot more than I would have if I bought every game at full price.

What will I do with extra $40 per game? Oh, I don't know... Put it towards rent, bills, food, gas, blu-rays, games, going out and doing things with my girlfriend, saving for the future which could include a house, kids, etc.? It all adds up, you know?

More so, it's the principal of thing. I'm not going to play a game until I can get the whole experience anyway, so if I'm waiting until all the DLC has been released to even start playing it, I may as well wait to buy it. At least then I may get the whole game on disc, which is more valuable to me than having part of it on disc and part of it I have to download.

 
Though waiting can and sometimes does backfire.  As some games can go out of print quickly and the copies on the market dry up and or increase in price/hold at a price.  But yeah I typically don't buy a game for full price unless I plan on playing it right away.  And these days there are some tools around to help keep from even paying full price at launch anyway.

 
So I know next nothing about the persona series, but I see that persona 5 is on sale for a pretty good price. I believe there is a new version of persona 5 coming out in the near future. Is the consensus that I should wait for that version or does it sound like the new content won’t really be a big deal to a persona noob?

If you're new to Persona and don't know whether you're going to like the game or not, $12 right now is a much better price than waiting another year to spend $60 for something you're not sure you'll enjoy.

Up to you really. Persona 5 Royal will be vastly different with story beats and more mechanics so if you like the vanilla version you’ll probably like Royal. I just finished the game in April or May and I loved it. My only thing is it is a huge time commitment (100+ hours). I say get it. Play it a bit and if you hate it you are only out $10. If you love it then you’ll be hyped because you’ll have a remix coming out in a few months.

PlayStation Now is getting some changes starting today.

In a nutshell, how is PS Now changing?

Starting October 1, the following top blockbuster games will be added to the PS Now service: God of War, Grand Theft Auto V*, Infamous Second Son and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. These games will be available starting on October 1 until January 2, 2020 for you to stream to your PS4 system or PC, or download to your PS4 system.

Additionally we are offering PS Now at a new lower price, keeping it line with pricing of other entertainment streaming services. Here are the prices starting today:

  • US: $9.99 – monthly / $24.99 – quarterly / $59.99 – yearly (from $19.99/ $44.99/ $99.99)
  • CAN: $12.99 – monthly / $34.99 – quarterly / $79.99 – yearly (from $19.99/ $44.99/ $99.99)
  • EU: €9.99 – monthly / €24.99 – quarterly/ €59.99 – yearly (from €14.99/ (N/A)/ €99.99)

$60/yr for PS Now isn't too bad at all.   It's not for me, but that would be a good way to play a lot of games for the price of one new release.

 
I jumped on Playstation Now when Amazon briefly had it at $60 per year and it's saved me at least that much in sampling games I wasn't certain I wanted to actually buy.

They're all definitely games that came out during a console generation. Either this one or the previous one.

 
So my rewards redemption on 9/25 on the Sony Rewards website was mysteriously canceled without any notification.

Their "improvements" weren't improvements. It clearly was just a lateral move because the Sony Reward site is still as terrible as it's ever been.

I would say it may be good for trading games but losing a console in the mix soured it for me. There are definitely good deals to be had there if you are dealing with reputable folks.

20 years go i have no idea how it was, but for the last 11 it's great. They have a solid 'bad trader' reporting system that would prevent your situation, unless somebody with 1000 great trades just goes crazy or something. But yeah, i wouldn't system trade with anyone less that several gold stars unkess they sent first.

[For those reading, these are direct trades with other people, no middle man. If i have 300 perfect trades, and you have 10, we agree to trade x for y, you send first due to lack of rep, i send on receipt]. As long as you are a solid trader, and deal with gold stars, it's effectively zero risk and no transaction fees.

I'm missing points and completed passes to the point where I have no idea what is actually missing. Whenever I've called they read the same response about "the system is going through updates" that they've been giving me for over a year.

 
No Man's Sky is still not $20 digital.  (no, I don't want physical)

That's the price I need to add it to my pile of games.

There should be another version of these games for sale, such as

It's had the library structure like game pass for a long time now. Can't remember if it was that way at launch but it's been years at this point. The main difference was that it was purely streaming with no ability to download the games, but they added that as well last September.

Honestly I feel like Sony has been pretty bad at getting the message across though. They should really rebrand the whole thing or start marketing like crazy to get people up to speed.

Yeah, more clarity would be a good idea. Trying to look at it through the dashboard gives you very little info. $60 a year is pretty good compared to GamePass, but it seems like a worse selection numbers-wise.

They've had the sub for several years now. You get over 300 PS4 games to download or stream and another 500 PS3 games you can stream with the sub.

They were just on sale for a better price recently. I would probably wait. The Fighterz Edition I think is the best, but I’m not a fan of the anime so the commentator packs don’t mean anything to me. I just want the extra characters.

I know it's too late and the sale is over, but I'm currently slogging through this game and figured I'd jot down some thoughts. It's by the makers of the Sherlock Holmes games (which are actually pretty good), but this time they tried to make a more open-world investigation type game, with mixed results.

Starting out, everything feels unnecessarily complicated and hard to get a grasp on. Once you get into the routine of things, there isn't much variation to each case. It becomes a repetitive and tedious process of running around and sailing from one end of the map to the other. This is compounded by the extremely long load times every time you die, fast travel or enter new areas. It gets dull quickly and sometimes you are inexplicably stuck because the clues don't properly inform you of what to do next.

The game isn't really scary except for the fact that your character is mostly helpless. The combat is poorly implemented and ammo is in short supply (there is a crafting system) so you end up having to run away from most battles. Creepy atmosphere is the only real draw here. The world feels rich and developed, but the graphics aren't great and the story falls short of expectations.

Reading back over the above, I didn't realize how much I disliked the game. It's far from the worst thing I've ever played, it just isn't anything special by 2019 standards (10 years ago, it would have been great). I would compare it to something like Vampyr, which I also didn't think was worth the full price (wait for $20 or lower). If you're in the mood for Lovecraftian horror, I thought Call of Cthulhu was a better game. I was also hoping to play Conarium sometime, but there hasn't been a horror sale in fucking forever.

If what it says is true, it looks like Fist of the North Star and Yakuza 6 both got price drops to $20 physically (according to Wario64). Haven’t checked digital but Fist is an insta-buy for me at that price point.

Chasm has a big update out now that adds a bunch of new stuff (Arcade mode, optional chiptune soundtrack, customizable controls, 80 new rooms, new background art, new items, and more).

Edit:

I played the Arcade mode in Chasm, which is like a speedrunning NES Castlevania game. It's linear in that you go right until you reach the room that gives you a random item or buff and when you go back out of that room, it's changed into another set of rooms where you need to go left and you repeat this until you reach a boss room. The default has an eight minute timer that keeps going even in the menus, but you can turn that off if you don't want that to be a part of the difficulty. There's not much exploration to it unless you get one of the bigger rooms that has more to it than a linear set of platforms, but it doesn't feel like the rest of the game and I guess that'll potentially be a draw for some. It shows the seed upfront so you can share that with people for challenge purposes. It's neat, but not really what I'm looking for. I'll have to start up a new game to see how that differs because I'm hoping the dev reworked how the upgrades and drops are handled.
